[Q] Need a newbie guide for installing CM10 - Thinkpad Tablet General

greetings,
i recently got my thinkpad tablet and find it quite laggy to use, so i want to install the CM10 mod here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32744561
i had successfully installed CM9 on my HP touchpad and my samsung galaxy exhibit phone using step by step guide, but i am still a newbie when comes to tech stuff like this.
so to install this rom, i believe i need to root my device first, and install the CM10 with CWM in recovery mode?
please correct me if i am wrong.
i am running stock 4.0.3 on the TPT, and i was trying to follow this thread to root my device:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1925025
however, when i plug in my device to my computer it only charge itself, and a brief message of "USB device not recognize" pop up.
and sometimes i can't even find the "unknown device" from my device manager.
i tried many method and still no luck, and yes i already have usb debugging mode checked.
any advice would be appreciated.
thanks.

Hi telly0050
I haven't installed any custom ROM on this tablet, since I got mine bricked and Lenovo does not provide a way to recover it, since the bootloader is locked.
But I think that the order that you ask is the correct one. 1) Root the device 2) Install CWM recovery Menu 3)Install custom ROM.
I had tried to document as much of the Thinkpad Tablet on this wiki:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Lenovo_ThinkPad
It is not a step by step guide, it only has some links, but everybody is welcome to create an step by step guide and add it to the XDA Wiki.
Regards
Martin

I'm curious to know if you managed to find a fix for this. I'm having the same issue with this device and I can't get any microUSB cable (including the factory cable) to be recognized.
I have the Thinkpad dock and even when i plug into the back of the dock with the tablet inserted I still get the "Connected to Charge Only" message.
Is there something I can do about this? Because obviously without taking it out of Charge Only I can't adb to the device.

Please Help! TF101 bricked; USB dead

Please help me with my TF101.
My TF now is bricked and the USB does not get recognize on any computer (1 PC, 2 laptops, 12 different ports). Only if I can have a USB connection, i can try to flash the TF. I installed CWM 5.8.3.4 and it killed my tablet. I was trying to make backup before installing CM9. Now, it is stuck on CWM recovery loop, freezes on cold boot, and I dont even know if APX mode is working for my tablet. Before I rooted the tablet, I was running ICS and was already having hard time getting the tablet get detected by my PC. After trying different ports, i was able to root with 1-Click Transformer Root. Installed OTA Root Keeper, SuperUser, then CWM. And now it is dead.
I have try drivers but there's no point, it does not get detected Nothing under device manager says APX device or TF101. Try Android SDK, ADB, NvFlash (tried to get in APX mode no sign of detection), but no point, computer can't detect it.
I am really clueless what to try anymore....Please any suggestions is greatly appreciated.
What happens exactly when you boot with power + vol down, and with power + vol up ?
(your tablet fully charged)
Bricked tf101
I have been scoping, reading many topics about bricked tf's couldn't find the answer yet.
Looks like it's all skattered all over this forum, mayby a bricked section would be wise.
So i bricked mine to and i have been at it for 2 weeks now, trying everything i could read here, wondering weither i should start (yet again) a topic, my own topic, concerning the bricked status of my tf....

Issues

I'm trying to flash this device with the NVFlash method, but every time I try to install the drivers, I get:
NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for Mobile devices
Any ideas why my tablet keeps doing this while in the APX mode?
Really would like to get this device upgraded to at least ISC. Is there any other, easier method?
EDIT: Also, I am trying to come from stock.
most tablet has locked bootloader, so nvflash isn't working anyway

So then how do I get a updated OS onto the device?
I've read through all the forums I could find, and I think my problem with doing the nvflash method is that I can't do this part:
1. The USB cable to connect your tablet to a PC (Yes, you will need a PC)
2. Your battery should be charged to 100%
3. You must have these drivers installed on your PC.

because I can't find the drivers I need to install, does anyone know where I can find these files?
(Trying to use the method found at the Lenovo forums, would post link if I could)

[Q] Problem...Recovery with no ROM to flash or USB recognition

Hi XDA. I have a problem and could use your help.
In order to make flashing ROM’s easier for myself I thought it would be a good idea to place them in the first folder listed on the internal sd card. In order to do this I placed a “.” befor the name of the folder. After wiping everything I learned CWM 5.8.1.8 (touch) does not see folders with dots(“.”) at the beginning. So I now am in recovery with no ROM to flash
I then proceeded to dig an even deeper hole for myself. In my attempts to install drivers for my device I have done something; now my computer fails to recognize that the device is plugged into the USB at all. Prior to my messing with it I would hear the USB input chime and Device Manager would show an “unknown device”. Now when I plug in my device nothing happens. I have tried two computers and both Win7 and Ubuntu.
I read that Linux might be able to see my device so I installed Ubuntu then the Android SDK as per this thread. It did not work for me. I still cannot see my tf101 but I can see my Nexus s with the “adb devices” command.
I bought my tf101 refurbished and can’t find the “B” version written on the device. I think I initially rooted with razorclaw...not %100 sure. I am not sure adb debugging was checked when I wiped...not sure it makes a difference at this point.
I am now looking at these NvFlash instructions but I can’t get past the 2nd step (I am a noob...obviously)
- run “./blobunpack recovery-clockwork-5.8.2.1-tf101.img” (Replace “recovery-clockwork-5.8.2.1-tf101.img” with the name of your downloaded file”)
Will this NvFlash tutorial work if the computer can’t see the device?
Any ideas?
Thanks for your time!
Try those steps from this website Reverting to Stock ROM (unroot and remove CWM recovery)
this is easier for you when u try to nvFlash your tf101. remember update driver, run as administrator on program
Thanks for the info!
I am away until tomorrow evening. I will try it then.
Hi,
I am still having problems.
Can I install drivers if the device is not listed in device manager? How?
Thanks again!
it will be reinstall or request when you unplug and plugin back your connect from tablet to PC
if your driver had been load or connected just go to Devices and Printers to check your connection, after that update your driver
Hi. Thanks for trying to help.
My problem is my computer is not seeing the device at all. No USB input chime. Nothing showing up in device manager. No nothing!
Could be the chord I guess but I don't think so. I was getting "unknown device" in device manager initially after I wiped the ROM. After attempts to install drivers I stopped getting any sign of the tf101 in device manager.

[Q] Nexus 7 (2012) Bootloop NO USB DEBUG

I have searched high and low for a forum where the same problems are presented. I have had no luck at all. So, I hope that I'm not driving anyone nuts here, but here goes
I have a 2012 Nexus 7. I am using this tablet to learn all about how to work with android software, ROMS, kernals, etc. It is unlocked and rooted. I have TWRP. It is currently stuck in a bootloop (I tried to install a custom ROM) and I have no idea if USB debug is on or not. When I connect the tablet to my PC, it will charge and the computer acknowledges that SOMETHING is connected but will not find the tablet itself. (ie: I cannot find the tablet icon to click on). I have been to dev manager and I cannot find it there either.
I have no idea what anyone is talking about with this abd sideload. Most of what is said is greek to me. If someone would be willing to explain that to me (in english) I would love to learn.
Obviously, I am in above my head and I really could use some genuine help here.
I just want to flash this thing back to stock. Could someone please explain to me how to accomplish this?

You need to read first. Then flash. If you kill your device then you won't learn too much. Start with this thread --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1907796.
You will probably need to install the naked Android fastboot drivers (search!) to proceed through the thread, since you can't put the device into USB debugging.
Anyway, to answer your questions:
adb (Android Debug Bridge) is a tool that allows a computer to control low-level features of an Android device. adb sideload allows you to send an app or ROM from your computer to your device (usually in a custom recovery) and install it, which helps if you've accidentally killed everything on your internal memory. However, you need a custom recovery (CWM/TWRP) to use adb sideloads.
You're better off learning how to use fastboot, which is a bootloader-based tool that helps a lot with disaster recovery.
Okay, I guess I need more help. I don't understand how I am supposed to be able to use fastboot to bypass the "enable USB Debugging". If I could get this to happen, I believe I can get my device back to stock. Can you explain this to me? NONE of the descriptions online are of any use at all.
Just reboot your device using power boutton and volume+ and volume- buttons to access to bootloader mode I suggest you to use nexus root toolkit it's very simple and usefull

Nexus CANNOT ENABLE USB DEBUGGING
Can I ask for your help guys? My Nexus 7 v1 is stuck on boot loop (either stuck on google screen or sometimes would proceed up to the nexus animation screen) and I've been trying to fix it with the Nexus Root Toolkit (NRT). I just have problem proceeding with the steps since the toolkit advices me to enable my device's USB DEBUGGING (open device , go to settings, then developer options etc) which I CANNOT POSSIBLY DO COS AGAIN, NEXUS IS JUST STUCKED ON BOOT LOOP.
Can you suggest OTHER ways I can enable USB Debugging in Nexus 7? I would greatly appreciate your help.
You don't need to get into USB debugging mode, as your goal is to reflash a stable ROM onto your device. You can do that with Fastboot commands when your N7 is in the (unlocked) bootloader. You can follow the instructions in the second thread in this forum, or tell NRT you're soft bricked, to install a factory ROM.

[Q] Can't Connect to any PC/Possibility to go to stock without USB

Hi guys,
I have a massive problem.
I recently updated to 4.3 rooted etc, after a few days of not using my nexus 7 on the pc I wanted to flash a new rom.
Now my N7 is only shown as an "Unknown Device" in my Device Manager.
I tried to deinstall Drivers, install, everything, I tried every possibilty in Wug's toolkit, nothing worked. I also tried it on another Notebook where i have never connected any mobile device, same message and i'm not able to install the drivers.
I also tried several ports and cables(the original one included)
Here is the message:http://i.imgur.com/tgxOeZQ.jpg
Translation: The optimal driver software for your device is already installed.
After this I flashed back to 4.2.2 (downloaded the rom on my N7) while performing a normal factory reset, I can't wipe everything because then I am not able to flash anything.
So after flashing to 4.2.2 my N7 was shown as a portable device in my device-manager. I then turned on USB-Debugging to stock+unroot, it was then shown again as a Unknown device, in both modes, USB-Debugging turned Off and On.
So now my question, is there a solution to this? I searched for possibilites to get back to stock without USB but most of them were a bit sketchy or had dead links. Please help me (sorry for my bad english)
Edit:
I just the cable of my old Motorola Defy, and it randomly connects and disconnects(still shown as unknown), so basically I think it is possible that my USB plug is broken(it takes about 6 hours to load the battery which I think might be as well a reason for a broken USB plug).
But to send it back to Google I need to Stock Unroot first so here my problem is again!
greetings
