I sold my GS3 and bought this phone. I am definitely happy with the switch.
I'm using my XT925 on Long Island, NY. I'm constantly getting H+ or LTE (in some areas that have LTE).
Phone is great. Battery life is f***ing awesome.

I am coming from the GneX which I had a little over a year your correct on the battery life it doubles what I was getting my reception isn't quite as strong as your getting, I'm on T-Mobile lte is limited here but I am a happy camper thanks for the reply

Yeah this is how I feel, it's a good phone to use as a replacement or if you're on contract and have ages to go until your upgrade.
However due to the minimal storage space I don't think I'd get one as my main phone.

Heck no, no USB audio and no card slot=device is dead to me. I will get one for review purposes, but it cannot ever be my daily driver.
It's a good nexus, but it's not a good consumer device. At least in my eyes!
I need a LED Notification Light,
Expandable Memory
5"+ screen!
Those are my requisites! Not for everyone
After a month with the note 2 it will take alot more than stock android and 350€ to make me change my phone. However I convinced a friend to ditch his laggy SE Xperia Neo for a Nexus 4 so I'll get to play with it for a while

This is a scenario where I'm glad I don't have an LTE plan. I have an international Note 2 (AT&T) and will be getting a Nexus 4 for portability. They both use a micro-SIM and both are HSPA+, so I can swap the SIM and go without hassle. If you have an LTE phone and plan, HSPA+ speeds are terrible.
Best of both worlds. Selling my GNEX (which I kept for portability) to finance the Nexus 4. No more SIM tray adapters!
I'm getting ~6mbps on HSPA+ and have exactly zero NEED for LTE. My data is plenty fast, thank you very much!

Not sure that is accurate as i have AT&T also with LTE service and im seeing 6-12 mbps on my international Note 2 and 21-25 mbps on my HTC One XL.

Ok well I was basing it off of my short stint with a Lumia 900. They changed my plan to LTE and when I put the SIM in my Galaxy Nexus, the speeds were very poor. Ended up having to give them an Atrix IMEI to get speeds over 300kbps. After the LTE was removed and my data was re-provisioned to HSPA+ (on the Atrix IMEI, a recognized "4g" ATT phone) my speeds went back to 5mbps.
Maybe it's been fixed (LTE vs. HSPA+ speeds) but I didn't have a good experience with an LTE plan and a non-LTE phone.

The N4 in the United States will be recognize as the world's greatest prepaid phone. But still no match for the Note 2.

I have Galaxy Nexus and been waiting for N4 but after seeing N4 specs. I got Note 2 yesterday

The Nexus 4 can be a great compliment device to the Note 2 but it can't ever replace it. EVER. The price difference is a good indicator of this.
Great for if you have a spare sim around.

Reception?

i am not seeing any threads or complaints about reception. so how is compared to the galaxy nexus and in general? anybody switch to t-moblile from at&t or vice versa? i am with and will be staying with at&t when i get mine. the gnex isn't great with reception so one of the biggest reasons i am sitting on the sidelines waiting for google to pull their heads out of their ass and hoping i get a bump in reception. i wish motorola made more unlocked gsm phones. thoughts or complaints?
No complains here.
Reception is a bit better than the galaxy nexus.
I'll be out in the city today so I'll chime in later with more results.

Never owned a GN and can only comment on UK GSM stuff, but bar wise my N4 has a stronger signal than my HOX.
Seems much better than my s3. Unfair comparison maybe though as my network has just merged with EE in the UK.

Does seem a bit better than my gnex. Not greatly but a bit.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
anybody think the reception is affecting the battery life greatly or still think it is more chipset or kernel related?
I'm getting full bars where I used to get one or two, way better than my other phones.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
People bars don't mean anything. Go into settings and look at the actual dBm signal strength.

Verizon anyone?

I have DNA, and am thinking of buying this phone. Can anyone tell me if it can be used on Verizon? I think it can but I can only get 3g, is that right? I switched to Verizon from Att because in my area att 4g is a joke. I averaged like 3mb speeds, while my Verizon 4g averages like 25 to 28. So I'm thinking 3g on Verizon is probably faster than att 4g HERE that is. Would there be any other disadvantages?

nope sorry. N4 is gsm only
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
You're out of luck buddy. Google didn't make this phone for Verizon and Sprint.
Besides, the droid DNA has very similar or the same specs as the nexus 4. They're almost blood brothers.

To bad DNA doesn't have dev support nexus does.

Nothing has the Dev support a Nexus does, especially not in the short time these phones have been out. That's why we're here.

Toronto with an Oppo Find 5

Does anyone have one in the GTA? I love this phone but not sure what the data speeds would be. I'm with bell. Was reading ghat in some US markets the hspa+ was faster than the LTE.

In places where LTE is prominent, it is faster than any alternative. I think Bell and Rogers have pretty good LTE, especially in Toronto. So I don't see why it would be a problem (assuming the Find 5 is LTE capable).
It doesn't have LTE.
Speed on lte cant be beat by hspa... at least not in toronto...

Thanks for the replies. I decided against because no LTE and went with the HTC One Dev.

Strong reception on this phone

I've noticed I'm getting LTE signals where I wasn't getting with my S2/S3/NOTE2.
does this phone have stronger radios?

Yes. Motorola has always been known for having the best radios and antenna arrays. Obviously there are some exceptions but as a whole this would be true.

It sure seems that way. Getting better signal/speed pretty much everywhere compared to my HTC One.
It has dual LTE antennae, whereas most phones only have one. The not only help get a better signal, but should help the battery life since it won't have to search as much to keep a good signal.

I see 2 bars of 4G at my house where I've never seen it before. Of course my SGN was always a bit wimpy on the signal. I still live in a fringe area, I can also see 1 bar of 1x if I'm standing in the wrong spot.
My wife just got an iPhone 5s (replaced her 4s) and sitting next to each other in the kitchen they both shows 2 bars of 4g and can pull ~13MB down on the speedtest app. Pretty impressive considering how spotty the signal is around here.

Agreed.
X > HTC ONE >> N4.
Forgot where the n5 fell in the spectrum.
On my S2 I had to go outside to make a call... Even to send a text sometimes.... In the boonies and have really bad reception here in general. Part of my decision between the G2, HTC one and the moto x was motorolas reputation of having the best radio hardware and signal strength. And I want disappointed. I can make calls and text in the house now with one to 2 bars on average... Where my S2 often had no signal at all. Very happy!
Especially cause winter is here... No more freezing my tail off to make a call.
