[Q] How do I get full root - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, my i9505 is rooted ok but it doesn't seem to be fully rooted (don't know a better wording).
I can't "adb remount" to get system mounted rw and
"adb shell" doesn't default into an su prompt (su command in shell works though)
What needs to be done to fix this?

[SOLVED]Just flashed latest 0.3 ROM - no root?

EDIT: SOLVED
I just flashed the latest ROM but when I enable debugging and type "adb shell" im getting "$" instead of "#"...? I'm trying to remount the filesystem "mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system" but am getting access denied because of this.
Do I need to try reflashing?
you need to adb shell then type "su" to get to a root shell i believe
EDIT: SOLVED! I was too blind to notice i had to allow the root request on my phone. thanks!
after i type 'adb shell' and get "$" everything i type next just gets echoed
ex:
Code:
$ su
su
test
test
etc

Usually if you have root, adb shell will automatically grant root access...the notification on the phone is a new one to me...

It seems to be caused by the "Superuser Permissions" app, included with the ROM

[Q] ADB remount issue

First off, I'm fairly new to the Droid X and this is my second android phone(the first was an Eris which should be kinda obvious). I am rooted but, for whatever reason, I cannot run the adb remount command from the prompt. I can run other commands like adb shell bootanimation which runs my boot animation and when i enter in adb shell it returns a $. $ does mean rooted, correct?
Also, when i try to run the sdk manager i get the "java not found in your your path" The weird thing is that it is in the path. So i'm getting frustrated now and I know it is probably something simple that i am overlooking.
If anyone can help out, I would greatly appreciate the help.

$ does not mean rooted. from that prompt you can enter 'su' and you should get an '#' and then you are using root.
However, by default, the ADB daemon is not running with root privileges. Thus when you try to ADB remount it gets denied.
You need to run a 'Root Elevated' adb daemon. Or you can manually remount the /system partition from adb shell.
Why does the Droid X Recovery Bootstrap start on boot?
As mentioned above, it needs to log that your phone booted successfully and recovery mode is not necessary. It also replaces your "adb daemon" with one that has root permissions, allowing for easier usage of the adb command.

I know that if you install/run DroidX Bootstrapper (which installs the ClockworkMod Recovery) it also sets up a root elevated ADB daemon. You will need to reboot after installing before this takes effect.

[Q] Shell, terminal emulator, how to...?!

Greetings to all!
Can You tell me how can i use shell in WF, what can i do in/with shell, is shell useful for working with, where can i find commands for android shell...?!
I'v installed it but when i type "Su" there is no action only "command not found" also when i type some other commands...
You must be rooted and have Superuser installed to allow terminal emulator to access SU.
Im rooted!
Have you got the Superuser App? Because, at the very least, atleast the "su" command should work on the terminal emulator, irrespective of others.
Anyway, some read through threads for shell and it's commands:

Yes, i have...Thats why is strange for me...
I rooted WF on my Linux Ubuntu 10.10...
You'll need the android development kit from google. Extra the tools to your personal user bin folder. (~/bin) add into your path statement. Open interval in you should not have adb working. In the terminal using adb issue adb shell. You will now be in a shell on your phone through your computer

I know about Adb using phone shell with my Pc but i dont want that, i thought that shell can use only with phone without Pc...To bad...
Or i didnt understand you...!?

[Q] After entering "adb shell", it returns "sh-4.1$" instead only "$"

[Q] After entering "adb shell", it returns "sh-4.1$" instead only "$"
After entering "adb shell", it returns "sh-4.1$" instead only "$".
What does this mean?
And when I type "mount -o rw, remount /system", it returns "sh: mount: command not found".
When I type "su", it returns "sh: su: command not found"
I am running on ...0089_ROW and I lose root after update
What does this **** means?
I could be wrong, but pretty sure it's a strong reminder you don't have root. I'm not well-versed, but I thought you needed root to use adb.
Yes, I don't have root.
I've tried to update with temp unroot via Rootkeeper and now i cannot take my root back.
I have su-backup in /system, but OTA Rootkeeper just say "su backup restored".
But root isn't restored.
That's while I try to take my root back via adb.
Đžbviously I must wait for ICS, I don't know.
Addition, my DHCP server doesn't work and when I what to connect to WiFi I must enter manually everythink (IP,DNS etc)
I cannot find any solution to my problems in the most popular forums.
Sorry I can't help. I'm lucky to have root through the efforts of others.
Which Rom are you on now?
I'm now on A400_03_0069_0121_ROW
Sorry for the late answer!
There's no hope for me

help rooting my phone

help rooting my phone
I'm new to android and try to rooted my phone (Samsung galaxy s5 sm-g900f)
i used all the different manuals and rooted my phone with "CF-Auto-Root-klte-kltexx-smg900f".
so now i can open shell and enter su command.
however that wasn't enough i needed to run "adb root" command,
but that gave me the error "adbd cannot run as root in production builds"
so i used another manual and changed default.prop file in boot.img.
i changed ro.secure = 0
and ro.debuggable = 1
now when i run "adb root" it returns "restarting adbd as root" but nothing happens!
after i open the shell im not rooted until i enter the su command.
so i'm assume that "adb root" is not working properly.
does anyone have any advise?
Thanks very much for the helpers
..
Thanks for your reply
I will try to be more clear because my English is not the best.
what i need is the adb to run as root. because i need to use "adb remount".
when i send "adb root" i get the reply "restarting adbd as root"
when i send "adb remount" i get "remount failed: Permission denied"
when i'm using the adb with the "su" command i have root access and everything is working properly.
I cant use a work around with the "su" command because im using a pc program that sends "adb root" and "adb remount" and it fails because "adb remount" failed on permissions
