[Q] Pattern lock, code lock, etc do not enabled on lockscreen - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

So basically when i try to set a password or pattern lock and i go to the lockscreen it doesnt even pop up, it just unlocks and goes straight to the homescreen. I have Nova launcher installed if that matters, everything else is stock. I've been having this problem for a while now

Does any Rom have properly working lockscreen?

If you set a security pattern, then the custom rom's show that, instead of showing the lockscreen with data, and show the pattern only when you slide to unlock. That's how Sense does it.
Without that, what's the point of the lockscreen? You have to turn off security to make it useful.
Or does any Rom do it right?
The point of a lockscreen is exactly that. To lock the screen. If you set a pattern lock that becomes the lockscreen. Having to slide to unlock and then pattern unlock is redundant.

In cm7 you can adjust 2 layers of lockscreen settings... for example my Evo is a blank screen when locked.. you can draw on it any way you want but unless you draw the correct shape it does nothing... but that still doesn't unlock it.. I have it set so the gestures only turn on flashlight and sound.. etc... to actually unlock you have to press menu and then your greeted with a full keypad not just numbers...

[q] Gingerbread lockscreen

sorry if its been discussed before but I can't find it anywhere via search.
here goes, during sgs' time with eclair, I recalled having set a pattern lock and when i turn the screen on, it would require me to slide to unlock first then proceed to pattern (similar to iphone set up)
nowadays on stock gingerbread rom, it no longer shows the main slide to unlock screen, instead it jumps straight to pattern/pin unlock screen. Reason I brought this up is that I did prefer the previous setup to see date, time and charge % left (also setting up a lockscreen wallpaper only works in the slide to unlock screen only)
does anyone know how to return it back to normal?
thanks

I'm pretty sure that it shows all that /(time, battery, date) and you could change the lockscreen wallpaper by going to : Settings > Display > Wallpapers and then Lockscreen Wallpapers....
Are you running stock ROM/kernel no EDT tweaks etc?
On my Juwe ROM the only problem I could find was that the lockscreen was transparent, thus showing the wallpaper you have on the homescreen instead of the one you have chosen in the settings.

Thanks for the quick reply, this came about on jvk then jvp rom, no tweaks etc
What happens is if i select no password required it shows the default lockscreen.
The moment i set up a pin or pattern lock, the lockscreen doesnt appear anymore, itvjumps straight to enterin pin or pattern screen, im pretty sure this happens to everyone else on stock gingerbread...

How to get widgets on pattern lock screen?

I know if you disable any security on the lock screen, you can put widgets on it by swiping left and right. The only problem is, when you enable pattern lock or pin or whatever, you cant get widget on the lock screen anymore.. WTF? I know the stock 4.2.2 can get it because my Nexus 7 is able to do it no problem.
Anyone know any tricks around this?
Thanks!

Go straight to the pattern unlock on lockscreen without swiping LG G4 H815 MM v20d

With pattern lock enabled. You have to first swipe to show the dot grid and then enter your pattern. The pattern grid is also smaller and I found this annoying.
To fix this, I noticed that if you set a pattern and then enable face unlock under Smart lock, it will show the big pattern grid directly.
It stays like this even if you then disable the face unlock.

Unlock only with fingerprint scanner NO pin/pattern

Hello readers,
I want to use NEXT lockscreen by microsoft instead of the default android lockscreen, but the only problem is i cant get fingerprint scanner to work with it.
In the setting of NEXT lockscreen it says to go to system and enable the fingerprint but that requires a pin as well and now when i swype down the NEXT lockscreen
the android lock screen pops up with the pin, so basically two lockscreen and 1 pin. However, finger print bypasses both lockscreens.
So my main point is can i set up a Finger print scanner without a pin or patten and then i will set a PIN in the NEXT lockscreen settings, so basically the android default
lockscreen would be set as none with a finger print scanner and a pin with NEXT lockscreen.
I've read an old post from 2015 about deleting the lockscreen.db from data/system/ using root.
While i am rooted, i tried to move all the lockscreen files from that folder to another part of the storage, no luck.
Paranoid if i delete everything will crash.
