You just started programming?
This app is way too complicated for a beginner. Do easier things first.

Thanks for the reaction.
Yeahh its a way too complicated as you just said.
I'll start with some simple apps first.
When I've finally get the knowledge about it ,ill just begin with this app.
The final thing I must learn is how to program(That's a must)
I though that Eclipse is just as easy as VB.Net :banghead:

I am trying to learn how to write android applications so that I can make my own for classes and such. Do any of you bright minds have any suggestions on where to go to get some really good tutorials/reading material? I really appreciate it.
I've already gone through a few of the tutorials on the official android website, but I don't fully understand some of it.

No, I haven't. I'll check that out. It looks quite promising. Thank you very much!
a book I bought, android application development. pretty helpful thus far.
I kinda want to get into developing, but I don't know where to start or how to start. I want to make a personal one until I get some knowledge in case something makes a booboo. Also kinda looking to make a kernal.

Ok man, if I were you I would play around with a linux box to get to know linux commands, then I would play with modding the kernel on that linux computer. I recommend this so you don't build a rom with a how to and. Then put it on your phone and end up with a brick.

In the near future I'm going to buy a new hard drive for my desktop computer and will install windows 7 and linux(Ubuntu the newest version) so I can duel boot. Is there a suggested linux OS?
Now before you ask "why do you need a new hard drive?" Well that is because somehow I lost it, dont ask me how ha.
I shall try my best to learn!
Can't start until I replace my mobo; but should be done within the next week and a half

What all goes into porting a ui from one device to another? I was interested a while back in having sense on my epic, I know there was a team working on it, but I would like to know for myself ho something like that is done.
I don't know much about coding, or linux, but I would like to get more into how it all works.

Insanely hard. Its not just like a simple skin. I will let someone more knowledgeable than me answer correctly, but It has hooks deep into the OS that all need to be translated to our hardware.
I didn't figure it would be easy at all, I'm just interested in learning all of that kind of stuff. Maybe I can learn and start helping to port that kind of stuff.

I dont know about other UI's, but I remember reading from the people that were porting the Sense UI how ridiculously hard it is. A good place to start would be to find that thread. Been a while since I have seen it, probably could use a bump to the top anyways.
If you just like the look of the sense dock/widgets there is a zip somewhere around here with icons for launcher pro and beautiful widgets from the market will take care of your widgets...I can post the zip if that's all you are looking for

I would like that but to be honest I really want the actual ui itself

There are plenty of Java Tutorials in the Internet. I guess you should read them first. Im also pretty sure that there are some tutorials about roms on XDA. You can find all of it just by using the search tool.

If you get going on and start baking stuff, always remember to respect other people's work. Don't kang from others without giving the author well earned credit.
if you want to make best rom, then start using google to find tutorials for cooking roms...
Im sure u at least need a basic java programming or c++ program..if not, its going to be difficult. Im my self hav no basic

If you don't even know how to search for the needed info yourself without asking, you've got ZERO chance of making the "best ROM".
Most "developers" are just "modding" or replacing stuff with winzip. If you like stock but with some other theme and couple of mods this is your way togo. I myself am not very fond of this method an skip these roms. Personally im keeping my note stock till an official MIUI or CM rom arrives.

Go to http://lmgtfy.com/ and enter your keywords. Then click on search and it will create your link.
Well, I never read Head First Android Development, I read Head First Java. So I have always recommended the Java book, not the Android one. (That doesn't mean that it is bad. The concept should be the same. )
Do you like it?
