I've finally got data and MMS sending and receiving working on my Nexus 4 on net10. Just wanted to share the APN settings that worked for me to hopefully help someone else out since it took me a bit of time to get working.
APN: tfdata
Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
Port:80
MMSC: http ://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33
MMS Port:80
all other fields I just left as they were.
Please let me know if this works for you! :good:

This has worked for me just fine for a couple of months now. No other settings have ever worked. Try mms2 if you're still having issues.

I tried both versions of this APN , both with the MMS proxy name an IP address. I am still unable to receive a text from a Verizon CDMA iPhone 4.

If you're on Net10 with an AT&T sim card they say upfront that they throttle you at 1.5gb of data in any given month. I have yet to be throttled, but i'll probably hit 1.5gb this month with about a week left so we'll see what throttling is all about. Not sure if they just slow down the connection or completely cut it off, but I should know soon enough!
Be careful!

I hit some arbitrary limit before they had the 1.5gb cap. I was throttled and it stayed that way for months. I got jerked around by the phone support, email support and even their Facebook page staff for hours trying to get it lifted. It finally took a call to their "executive escalation" call center to resolve. I found that number on Howard Forums. The one that worked for me was 8008765753.

Usually extremely slow, ~4KB/s (kilobytes). Sometimes a little better, like ~10KB/s. Pretty useless.
Just posting some information in case it helps other people who might be searching like me...
The settings here from Net10 (scroll to "AT&T Network settings") result in no data:
http://www.net10wirelessphones.com/FAQ.html
The settings here from Net10 (click on "Phone Programming" and then "IF YOUR CARRIER IS AT&T") allow data, sms, and MMS:
http://net10sim.com/support.php
HOWEVER with these settings I still have intermittent data issues. For example:
Open Chrome, go to google.com = fast
Search for something = fast
Click the first result = hang, data connectivity lost (Chrome times out and says I am offline)
The settings here from xda behave the same as above:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40188181&postcount=49
To be clear: sms, mms, and data "work" with the xda settings but I still have problems with data dropping. So I'm actually using the settings from "net10Sim.com" instead because they behave the same and require less editing.
I've put in a request with Net10 support to get real, valid, official APN settings but who knows if I'll really get anything.
Seeing the same thing on straight talk...
Now straight talk and net10 are sharing the tfdata APN settings... (Some straight people have been migrated to this tfdata, some are still on att.mvno)
Its really hit or miss... and seems to get better at night..
I can do a speed test and get 6 Mb down in Tulsa ok area, then not be able to load a web page.. I can tell when its acting up because the plus sign next to the H cycles.. On At&t and Net10 (At&t simm) for me that did not used to happened until just a week or so ago. Tmobile's + sign would cycle all the time. Now when I am having difficulty with a page loading I see it cycling.. When things are going "good" (fast page loads, consistent speedtest.net tests) + sign doesn't cycle at all.
Its frustrating to say the least..

I got this all the time, it means the phone can't connect to Google services... Usually also means internet is broken or to slow, when it happens to me nothing would load for several second. Switched to AT&T GoPhone and haven't had a single issue with that again.

It's only been the past month or so that it's been doing that, before that it was fine. I've seen on another thread that the apn settings have changed after the roll out of LTE or that I might need a new sim card possibly.

To be honest, mine started doing it in early August (although MMS has never worked) and I gave up after 4 hours on the phone with their tech support telling me it was an issue with my phone and not their problem. Switched to GoPhone and haven't had a single issue since.
Not sure if this is it either, but an AT&T wireless tech (I work in telecom, this is an actual tech that works on switches and tower sites), that the towers give priority to certain customers like AT&T post/pre paid accounts over MVNOs and if the equipment gets busy it will actually block "nonessential" services like data to lower grade APNs. He said they have seen traffic increases much more than expected from MVNOs in the last couple months... Take it for what's worth I guess.

I got an international S3 from India and went to AT&T store to get a micro sim.
Got that installed and then the phone calling works fine but data (internet) doesn't work.
They said they would have to register my phone's IMEI but it still doesn't work. They put in a new APN, and still same. They called their tech and they couldn't help. Their last suggestion was to try calling Samsung, but I had to leave to get to work.
I believe there are already people using International version with AT&T for the S3. So any ideas what could be wrong?
Thanks!
Try factory resetting your phone. Other than that, make sure you have the $10/month data plan (unlimited messaging required) or the $15/month data (no messaging required). To do that you'll have to call into customer care and say you have an unlocked non-smartphone. If you go into the store to do this they'll give you the more expensive internet because they'll see you have a smartphone. If you're changing data plans it CAN take 24-48 hours for it to be effective, although it usually doesn't take that long. After that's done go into Settings, More Settings (under Wireless and Network settings), Mobile Networks, and then Access Point Names. Make sure there is an Access Point Name titled "Cingular 410". If there isn't then press Menu, and then "+ New APN". The settings should look like this:
Name: Cingular 410
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not set
User name: [email protected]
My Password field is auto-filled, so I don't have that. Try leaving it blank, but if that doesn't work call customer care and get that information.
Server: cingulargprs.com
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: Not set
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: Not set
APN type: default,supl,mms
APN protocol: IPv4
Enable/disable APN: Checked (this field is grayed out for me, but it is checked)
Bearer: Unspecified
This should fix it. The only thing I'm unclear on is the Password part.
Password is (all caps): CINGULAR1

Well now my SIM is completely unregistered, can't even make calls. Operator asked me to go to the store and get a new SIM Card.
So, this won't work without the switch to the non-smartphone data plan? It is going to be hard to pull off when I am in the store.

It should work just fine on the smartphone data plan, and you should be able to switch to the non smartphone data plan afterwards.

Ok, thanks. What should I tell the AT&T store people today when I go in the evening?
It feels like they did something on the account to screw it up. Would it help to suggest that they get this working on an AT&T HTC OneX and then transfer the SIM to my phone?
It could be that you have a defective SIM card. Take it one step at a time. Replace the SIM card. Make sure you have functionality with other services (such as voice and messaging). Check all the APN settings to make sure those are correct. Make sure you have a data plan for AT&T.
I'm on another carrier but I had the same problem at first, only phone call and sms working. I had to change my APN for the Data to work.

I am on ST using At&t Sim, however I just received my N4 2 days ago and would like to switch to a T-Mobile Sim(which I have from ST). My question is this can I switch in the middle of my monthly plan? I have tried to call them to ask but no luck. I saw am option on their website but don't want to do it of its not the correct procedure. Any one ?

I asked this same question recently:

I haven't attempted yet but it sounds like you can access your account from their website and activate the T-Mobile SIM from there, thereby continuing your current service.
I cannot get Straight with T-Mobile to work, can anyone share their working APN settings, I have tried the ST website and it doesnt work.... I've been on hold with them for over 30 minutes... maybe you guys can help me quicker.

I had a similar issue yesterday although it was with an AT&T sim. I tried every single APN setting imaginable and my data still would not work, whereas calls and texts worked perfectly fine. I tried calling customer service but they did not help -- they wanted to troubleshoot my settings but I was using my ST phone to call them so I couldn't. Instead, I opened a support ticket through Facebook (facebook.com/StraightTalkWireless), click Support -- or e-mail them). They responded by saying "Changes have been made to the account, please turn your phone off and on to update." My data magically worked. It took a few hours for them to respond, but if you try a bunch of APN settings and nothing works, try that.
I had a galaxy nexus on AT&T and i cut the sim into micro sim for my nexus 4. I had to push it in a little hard, but it seems to work fine.
Lately though, I am keeping my nexus 4 on 2g while at work to save battery on this phone because it loses a ton of battery while sitting idle on 3g compared to my galaxy nexus. But I'm noticing that data starts and stops working. The bars are still blue but no up and down arrows when I'm sending a message and then after a minute it stars working again for a few seconds. I thought maybe it was the AT&T tower near my work but it's doing this at home too (forty miles away) on edge. 3g seems to be slightly better but happening in that too. This has been happening since last Wednesday. Anybody have any ideas? I'm wondering if there's something wrong w/ my phone, or if I damaged the sim card slot, but I'm not losing signal or getting a message that sim card isn't detected or anything.

The tower you're connected to may just be busy and you're just stuck waiting.
"Cell phone traffic through a single cell mast is limited by the mast's capacity; there is a finite number of calls or data traffic that a mast can handle at once."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cell_site#Range
No it happens at home as well which is forty miles from work and not a very populated/busy area

I didn't set it because I thought if you're on a postpaid plan it should be set in the nexus 4 automatically:
"If you plan on using your newly unwrapped Nexus 4 on either AT&T or T-Mobile postpaid services, you won't need any extra configuration. The devices come out of the box with the carrier's proper APN settings preloaded in the software."
http://www.androidcentral.com/how-setup-right-apn-your-nexus-4
what is the correct APN for att
I had to set mine to get it right.
Are you missing push notifications, or does it take a second to gear up when you want to use mobile data? If so, it's an issue. If you're just worried about the up and down arrows disappearing, I wouldn't be concerned.

No, in that minute or so where it's not working, it actually doesn't transmit data. It's not just the arrows. People are not getting my messages on time, and I'm not getting theirs. Web pages don't load, the phone isn't even trying. And then all of a sudden it'll start working. I also tested it by messaging myself on my computer by opening another gmail account I have on the computer and trying to talk back and forth. I know relying on the arrows isn't a very scientific method, but each time I see the arrows, the checkmarks appear on whatsapp messages (which show it's been transmitted), and the message shows up on my second gmail account on my computer.
The really difficult part of troubleshooting this is that it doesn't work...for about a minute, then it works for a few seconds...then it stops again.

My Net10 AT&T is getting weird behaviors... Can't access the Internet, if it does, it keep redirecting to 1.2.3.50, and sometimes it tells you to sign into network...
How about straight talk? Anyone notice anything?
No issues on ST At&t for me.
None for me either (ST AT&T).
I'm having the same problem with my net10 at&t on my note II. On the net10 forums there a a few post about it but the mods are pming the people directly. You have to have more than five post to use the pm service. I've been on hold with net 10 for an hour and a half and I contacted them on the website.
Yes, I switched to Net10 last week and I started getting the "Sign into network AT&T" notification yesterday afternoon. I have GT-i9300 so its a BYOP issue, not a Nexus issue. As stated above its posted all over the Net10 forums but their customer service is being less than helpful. MMS has not worked at all since I switched from StraightTalk and now data is not working at all.
UPDATE:
After sitting on the phone for 2 hours with Net10 customer service here is what I know: They told me that since my current location (work) is not the same area as the zip code which I registered my phone (home) that the priority is downgraded on the towers. I asked to change my registered location but I was told that it is locked to the SIM and that I would have to cancel my current SIM plan and have them ship me a new one in 3-5 days. Ridiculous. However the following steps have seemed to work (have not lost data connectivity for ~an hour).
1) If you are not sure your APN settings are correct, double check them
NAME: net10
APN: tfdata
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS PROXY: mms3.tracfone.com
MMS PORT: 80
http://www.net10sim.com/support.php
Once you are confident you APN settings are correct DO NOT TOUCH THEM AGAIN. DO NOT EVEN OPEN APN SETTINGS. If you even open the APN menu it seems to trigger a reset of your network connection, even if you discard any changes. Once the connection resets you have no data ("Sign into network AT&T" message). I assume this has something to do with AT&T network authentication and/or queue priority.
2) Power your phone off and leave it off for at least 60 seconds (and take out the battery - why not, it cant hurt.) I believe this prolonged shutdown is long enough for all your connection info to be dropped from the tower.
3) Boot your phone back up and HOPEFULLY your connection will be properly restored.
Again, once your data connection is restored do not even browse into the APN settings as this appears to de-authenticate your data.
I called Net10 today the guy slipped and told me its a 1.5GB cap and he said they apologize because it suppose to refresh on March 1,2013... he refreshed my network and everything .. sad part im using a samsung galaxy note 2 and the only that works on the network is facebook now aint that a B*tc$... Forgot to say the Internet Doesn't work at all only thing working is Facebook Application and Google Voice other then that Nothing works.. I was on the phone for 1 hour before I got a Reference code to give it 24 hours and call back.. now Net10 really needs to shutdown for sucky customer and network service support... Atleast Tmobile and At&t pretended they cared. This started happening yesturday and I also get the sign into network as a notification.. Net10 really needs to pay their cell phone tower BILLS

I am using a NET10 AT&T microsim from the BYOP kit.
I was getting the same error you are getting, this is how you fix it.
i had to call the tech support number and get them to change me over to these settings.
this is what my net10 settings for APN are...
without it set like this I would get a weird "sign in to network" message every time my phone booted. and I would get no data connection.
name = Net10
APN= att.mvno
mmsc = http//mmsc.cingular.com <---xda says no <:> in the http
mms proxy = 66.209.11.33
mms port = 80
finally works though
mms in and out.
hspa+15 / hspa10 depending on where I am.
I had to call tech support to get those settings. The girl on the phone said she made some change to my account...not sure what she was talking about but when I plugged in the above apn settings it started working.

Nope, I can't get internet. It's gray.
Notice the last part in my post. I had to call in to net10 tech support and they changed something.

No issues on ST At&t for me.

I just had this issue on ST AT&T BYOP iPhone 5 factory unlocked stock 6.1.4.
Using the new tfdata APN that has been provided by ST since 6/15. The legacy att.mvno doesn't work at all any more for me.
Toggling airplane mode resolved the issue.
Like Andromed0 I have received the message twice this week.I am also using the newer APN ST settings. I have tried the "toggle Airplane Mode" and will see what happens.
NEXUS 4 APN Settings
Has anyone seen APN settings like theses and can you explain why they work?
Name: Straight Talk
APN: wap.tracfone
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.32
MMS Port: 80
I live in Columbus,Ga using a T-Mobile sim on straight talk and tried everything I could find even ST customer service and nothing worked well. Then 1 night on straight talk CS chat the rep gave me this and now I get HSPA+ and 4G all over the area. What I don’t understand is the APN: wap.tracfone and the MMSC with cingular in it. All of the other APN’s I found at XDA, the net or straight talk never used those two items. Also I am using a hybrid radio flash but have been using various combinations of APN’s and radios since I got the phone and the APN is what made the difference.
I'm in Tmobile classic plan and my data has been slow the past week or so, not sure why. I am gonna try this APN just to see what happens, it is working, but I'll see how fast it is.

if it's cingular, then you probably actually have or they converted you to, AT&T

Thanks, that explains the cingular and Straight Talk does have, or had ATT, sims I have a T-mobile sim. I still don't see how an ATT APN works with a T-Mobile sim.
MMSC = multimedia messaging service center. Data does not use this unless it is MMS related. How is your MMS working? The other fields could be standard and you would actually be going thru T-Mobile for data.

My data is fine now, where before I was getting no data Again with this new APN I am getting data coverage in my area where until I changed to this APN I could not get coverage. I even asked at the local T-Moile store about coverage and they said that in my specific area coverage for data is not good but w/this change I am a happy customer.
was working. may be my fault i try again

Any status report on whether this new APN configuration improved T-Mobile classic plans Data speed?
