Hi Guys,
I really need your help.
Issue is in one of the five calls I get no sound in in-ear speaker or loudspaeaker earlier I thought It was an network issue but apparently it's not.
If I open keypad while calling and press some numbers then I get the sound.
I am on the latest radio .48 that came pre-installed.
So till now what I have tried, changing kernels going back to stock kernels: none worked.
Also, Flashed PA still faced the same issue.
I also has nexus louder flashed, so I flashed the revert zip, still facing the issue.
Now I am downloading the latest radio zip again but I don't think that it will work.
Please suggest me guys what could be the cause of this issue and solution.

Try enabling lock screen sounds... this was a known issue with 4.2.2 roms.

Hi All,
I have Samsung Galaxy 3(I5801). I have upgraded to custom rom froyo JPF . Most of the times my voice does not reach the other end of the call (either I make a call or I receive a call). My voice is heard if a put a headphone. Even I am able to record my voice with the voice recorder. So I think there is no hardware problem.
If I shutdown the phone and start it, the problem is resolved. But I get the same problem after some time.
I started seeing this issue, when I first rooted my device with the factory eclair rom (DDJ6).
My phone is rooted. I have seen this problem in froyo custom roms - JP9 till JPF. I tried all the roms, but I have faced this issue.
Can any one have faced this problem. Can any one please help me in this.
Thanks
numan
Have you tried a hard reset?
Hi,
Yes I have tried that, but in vain. I will give it a try once again and use it without rooting for some time.
What I have observed is, I see this problem when i root the device.
Does any one think, rooting might be causing this issue.
Thanks

Are you using some call recording app? if so disable it doesn't work well ok g3 (had the same problem once )

Hi Pinak.ahuja,
I have not installed any call recording app.
I'm pretty sure flashing another rom\ reflashing that rom would fix it.

Hi Thom47,
After taking your advice, its working fine as of now.
Just out of curiosity, do you know how it solved the problem, and what caused this problem at the first place.
Thanks

Same problem here. I'm rooted and have an unlocked bootloader, on Paranoid Android 3.10 with Motley Kernel and Radio : radio-mako-m9615a-cefwmazm-2.0.1700.48 .
I'm getting very frequent call drops and it's very annoying. Can someone recommend a stable radio that I could use?

I'm in India on Vodafone. I'm considering flashing another radio.
Strange.. Try a 4.2.2 factory reset and then re install recovery, and re flash the Parandroid rom..
A friend of mine has a brand new nexus4 but when phone calls are made there is no sound. It has 4.2.2 with .48 radio and new bootloader. I tried a couple things: rooted it and flashed the bootloader and radio again with stock rom. Then install cm 10.1 with the new and old radios with the same results.
Any suggestions?

Is their no sound at all or is the volume just really low, almost to the point where you cant hear anything? If so, I had this same problem and all i did was restart my phone and it seemed to fix itself.

I had the same issue after the latest PIE rom update. Flashing the radio solved my problem, try this radio: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2087227
Real quick: did your friend test the phone for sound at the store before paying for it? Or did the no-sound issue kick in only after a little tinkering?
So I convinced my aunt to get the nexus 4 a while back. Unfortunatly its now not able to make calls correctly. Everything works on the phone without an issue just that There is no sound incoming or outgoing without having to put it on speaker mode (while in a call). This is a already know issue but there is not true way to fix it. We got around it by install the aplication called soundabout and unchecking something about the headphones. That got It to work... for a while. Now it is not working and am going to have to have to downgrade it back to 4.2.1? I read that was the only way. But I wanted to find a real solution. Or at least a reason as to why it happens to maybe figure out a solution?
Are you on 4.2.2? If so, you need your radio baseband upgraded to .48.
If that's not the case, then it could be a hardware issue.

there are a few ways to fix this. technically its not broken, they want you to use the newest baseband/radio, since it disables lte. easiest way is to flash the .48 radio, which was already stated. there is also a method that involves editing a certain file(found in the original dev threads).

When she brings me the phone ill have a look at it. Thank you for the replies. Ill probably upgrade her baseband seeing as how she doesnt need lte. I flashed the 4.2.2 images available on the google developers website. All of them. Do those images comes with the baseband that is needed? It came with the radio, recovery, and a few other things... I forgot.

Have you considered if it's a hardware issue? Intermittent issues can be hardware. It might explain why no matter the ROM you have this common audio cutout problem. I just had my phone warranty serviced because whenever I would record audio or audio and video upon playback I would get these weird audio artifacts like popping and static sounds. The tech told me they resoldered the audio pins to try and correct the problem. It is now fixed btw. (The same repair had them replace the proximity sensor too but it seems to me they actually replaced the entire main board b/c my board serial number is different. To my understanding the proximity sensor is a module and the audio chip is soldered onto the main board.) Would warranty service be an option for you? If not, there is a good tear down guide on iFixit.com and others on Youtube.
As for making a flashable zip I found this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1207467

yes i have took into consideration it might be hardware issue. but it makes no sense because i also repair cell phones that there is 3 different speakers in a cell phone how is it that all of them would cut out at the same time when they all have different hookup spots and y would it come back with a reboot every time.. and then randomly shut off sound again..
anyway thanks for your time reading and replying to me greatly appreciated if u find anything else out be sure to like me know thanks again

Flash the stock firmware and if you still have the problem it's most likely hardware.
