Out today!... - Galaxy Note 10.1 General

On Digitimes "Samsung reportedly to phase out from microSD card market" as you can see it is being reported that Samsung plans to phase out microSD cards http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20130507PD224.html. Also, consider if they go the way of Amazon, Nexus and the rest with no microSD cards--no way for users to warehouse their own data. Therefore requiring an internet connection to access your own data, then there will be few products out there with microSD cards and the storage you buy will be all you have unless you want to store your information on remote servers "cloud" to be accessed only if you have a web connection.
To voice your opinion about microSD cards you can email [email protected] and input. The more people who input on wanting them to continue to use microSD cards/slots in their future products the better chance they will keep the technology. I know this is a matter of choice and everyone feels differently about it, but, if you value having microSD please contact Samsung.
-Thanks
UPDATE
Samsung replied to my email stating they are checking out the source for the article and information. They are taking into consideration the way customers feel about having devices with microSD card slots & cards. So many people have been emailing, thanks to everyone who has. Before we emailed they didn't know how valuable devices having MicroSD slots & cards were to us. Of course, they said they appreciated our input.
On a final note, if you haven't emailed yet please do, the more the better the outcome.
Thanks again!

They are moving away from making microsd cards, not from having an sdcard slot in their phones...

Why put something in you don't plan to make money off of? Not, clear from the way the article was written to make that absolute determination. Why not let it be known you value having a microSD slot & cards?

They would be foolish to remove microsd frome phones and tablets, one of the main reason why I bought Samsung phone and tablet is for the Mico sd, when it comes to the note I would probably keep buying it cause of the pen input but other then that I would move to the nexus lineup

Not saying its a make our break factor but it is a factor and It does help with the decision making, the real question is if you had two identical devices and the one difference was one had an sd slot and one doesn't what would you pick

Last year one that has SD slot . This year not so relevant using a 2TB NAS box .
jje

latest versions of android OS already force people to install all apps to internal memory so i am not surprised if samsung eventually phase out micro sd, i guess i need to buy what i need soon before it's too late, it's a shame because i have a few of their micro sd cards, they are quality built too.

not everyone has access to the internet and cloud data which is what android and samsung need to realize, phasing out a essential feature will only alienate a majority of their customers, maybe it will be their downfall? who knows.

Amazing.
None of you read the original article.
Go read it. They're not phasing out expandable storage on our devices. They're getting out of the consumer market of sd cards.

Samsung Nexus S coming December 16th

But we already have it with a keyboard but no gingerbread

And it's seriously making me consider leaving Sprint already, in spite of the fact that I just signed with Sprint on Epic launch day. I'd take stock gingerbread with no keyboard over this broken GPS, no-froyo-having, bulky keyboard pos a thousand times over. Nexus S seriously has me jealous. Why can't we just have all the phones on all the carriers in the states? Damn you, stupid carriers.
cant wait for this

I would LOVE to have a Nexus S. I understand Google might have difficulty programming every network type but I still think it would be profitable for them to have it on all the networks. I think Android has finally hit the point where they have the power to tell the networks what they want, not the other way around.
It should be easy to port too. All of these phones are galaxy s class phones including the Nexus S. Touchwiz is not like HTC Sense which chews up some memory and performance
I have a Nexus One and I like it. I was about to order one on the 16th until I heard that there is 16GB internal memory but NO microSD slot!?
SD makes things easier, such as keeping ROMs and adding, say 20GB worth of music on a 32GB chip.
Being stuck with a 16GB and needing a cable for data transfer is giving me pause...

Also please give us an idea of how you think it performs...
It is cheap because it is class 4. I wouldn't buy it. Transfer speeds will be terrible.

You think class 4 transfer speeds are terrible? Unless you do nothing but constantly transfer huge files to and from said sd card, there is no need for outrageous classes. My class 4 has been wonderful.

16GB is good enough for me, you can always upgrade it with a 64GB (+/-) SD Card
I know people always say put in an SD card, but internal storage is FAR superior to microSD. MicroSD is a great convenience, but I would take large internal capacity over microSD anyday.

you can buy, i am using this Sd and it is awesome...
$43 for amazon for me
The manual states that 64gb is supported, so it shouldn't be surprising really that it works.
The internal chip is a bi faster writing at about 17mb/sec whereas the Sandisk writes at about 10. Plenty for media storage
Im using mine (sandisk ultra 64g uhsi cl 10) for about 3 days now and its awesome.. fast..i recommend it m8. It was 50 euros for me from ebay
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Please take note that sandisk has a lot of imitation cards out there. Some of the imitation looks more like original than the original in terms of packaging quality.
I anyways buy from shops only and verify its original by going to their website on the spot and checking out the look out signs for fake.
Fyi to date I found 3 shops selling imitation cards at original cards price.

I have a 32 GB sandisk Ultra HC1 and have tried everything but keeps unmounting (gets message that says - sd card removed unexpectedly). Sucks so bad and is major pain in the ass, I have also ran a script to use sd card for internal memory but once it goes to sleep i have to resart phone to access it.

Were they corporate stores or 3rd party multi-carrier locations? Most corporate stores I've run across are pretty chill, I know if I upgrade phones and need a new SIM, they'll give and activate it for me for free, only because the phone comes with one, but the time I did set up with my own phone, just handed me a SIM card, no charge, then activated it.
