I have noticed an issue after the new update. Has anyone else noticed proximity sensor issues. When you pull the phone from your ear, the screen is not lighting up. I have had it do this at least 3 or 4 times since yesterday. It never did it before the update.
Havent had thst issue but update has caused the lag issue to worsen on mine. Takes 5-7 seconds fir my touches to respond. Ill be flashing back

I do not have lag issues. I have been using Nova launcher since I got the phone.

Yes, Nova Launcher is a lot less laggy than Samsung's UI.
The second mine did the update, my battery is dropping extremely fast and noticed on the battery chart that my android OS is using 23%.

So far, it doesn't feel any differently, although I have to say that I never suffered from many of the issues other mentioned. Device feels just as snappy as before. I will be watching battery life today.

Not noticing any significant differences here either. I didn't have any problems before the update except for the screen color calibration issue where yellows appear brown. That issue does not appear to be addressed in this update.
The update release says the fingerprint recognition has improved. If it has, it still takes a good three swipes on average for mine to unlock, so that is no better than before IMHO.
Haven't tested battery life but using it side by side with my friends atrix without the update mine is a bit smoother. Fingerprint recognition is better and the usb mass storage mode issue I had is resolved apparently.

On fingerprint. I sometimes recalibrate it by doing th whole fingerprint setup again. Works well for a while. Perhaps weather changes the skin?

quick question, were all of you beta testers or were any of you able to update your atrix yourself?

I did it myself...
My screen actually turns off when I plug it into a wall adapter.
I approve of that fix.
I c,how bout the touch screen issue?confirm fix the issue where u touch the screen at same position for 15-16 secs then it start freaks out?Hope they fix this, damn annoying when playing games if they did not fix this
Battery on mine has gotten worse. I was able to get somewhere around 30 hours of use with 5-6 hours of display time but no I can't even get to the 24 hour mark with just a couple hours of screen time.

I have noticed the issue but only when my fingers are in the same position. If I keep moving them I have no issue at all.
Alright I got my grey 16gb yesterday and played with it all night. One thing I noticed was how sometimes the screen would freeze and become unresponsive at certain places. Like when I was trying to setup my settings, it just froze. I could press the home button and it will work, but continue to be unresponsive on the home screen. It happened about 5 times last night. Anyone else noticing something similar? Thanks.

I haven't noticed that yet, but I am on my second tan because of light bleeding.
Edit: I did have a soft reboot randomly. Hopefully Samsung will push an update to fix some of these issues (like slow browser typing).

Is it possible an app could have caused freezing like that? After restoring it, i had my gf use it all day while i was at work and she said no freezing or lag what so ever.

Yep, stuff like that happens sometimes. I wouldn't think anything of it, unless it happens it all the time.

ever since i upgraded to 4.2 my nexus 7 has been rebooting randomly, dosent matter how much charge i have or if im using it or not,it just happened 5 mins ago while laying there on standby. it never did it while it was on 4.1,since i got it i have rooted it and unlocked the bootloader and then when i upgraded it unrooted. bootloader is still unlocked (i still have the padlock on startup). has anyone else been experiencing this since their upgrade or is mine just faulty? ive read that some have had similar issues since the update but nothing thats only random. ive also noticed decreased battery life and sometimes not as buttery smooth as google promised.
Many people have problems because of the 4.2 update, I recommend you to back up your apps and reflash stock, and do all the ota updates right after that. I did this and my N7 got smoother and it has a better battery life now
Hope this helps.

I'm also having this random reboot issue since 4.2 update. So far it has rebooted only once when I was using it, while all other times it's just sitting there idle on my desk and it reboots. I also agree with batter life, it hasn't been great compare to 4.1.2.
Had the reboot issue at first also, but after updating all my apps ( as they became available) it seems to have stopped. No reboots for a few days now!

I know that since 4.2 my N7 lags like no tomorrow. Pulse doesn't even want to work most of the time. Listening to music while browsing is annoying. I might go back to the previous version.
There is a whole thread on this topic. Better to keep the discussion of reboots on one place.

Well I don't know what is the problem inside the update but when I installed the ROM as rooted one in the development forum it was unresponsive and lagged... Then I returned it to the last version of 4.1.2 and then applied the properly ota and now it runs battery smooth and no more problems here, well except for the flicker that is still here
Sent from my Nexus 7 with 4.2 and I love it....so **** logic its great
+1 for battery life being crappy. I haven't had any of the other issues you described; 4.2 is a lot smoother imo I just assumed that is why the battery drains a bit faster. But the battery life convinced me to go back to 4.1.2.

its happened maybe 5 times since ive owned it now. once on a call , other times randomly as im using apps . its weird cause im using an app then it shows the nexus X logo for a bit then its back to the homescreen. but it didnt show the google logo as it normally does when it boots up. anyone else experiencing this?
Yes, I am too. There seems to be no pattern either. It reboots when watching movies, playing ingress, on the homescreen. It is completely random.
I am running a stock rooted rom with franco kernel.
Not yet

I am as well, facing the same issue. Any memory intensive apps like chrome browser usage for more than couple of hours or watching HD movies, the phone simply restarts. shows the nexus logo and brings back to the homepage... pathetic.
No problems here, using stock rom and franco r15.
My first nexus 4 (which I lost) didn't reboot at all. My new one gets into reboots cycles and it happens on most day. This is where it won't just reboot but will continually dod so. I have investigated with a number apps to try to identify a rogue app. I suspect hardware so am going to exchnge the phone (It also has some LED bleed)
stock phone, not rooted... no reboots here - uptime is 338 hours.

Running PA Rom...Franco Kernel...havent had no issues...Phone been perfect since I got it...
I'm not sure if this is related but after upgrading to 4.2 (and 4.2.1) on my Nexus 7, the stock launcher became sluggish with occasional random reboots happening (many others have reported the same behaviour). After switching to Nova Launcher, all was well again and I haven't seen a random reboot since. On my Nexus 4, I've used Nova Launcher from day one and am yet to experience a random reboot (4 days in).
So, I manually flashed the recent OTA. Felt like sharing what I have noticed.
For one thing, EVERYTHING is snappier. Going into recent apps is fast, home screen and apps don't take forever to load. That's a definite improvement. If it changes after running for awhile, I'll update.
Google Now's Always On voice recognition now works. I couldn't get it to work while away from the Google Now launcher before the update.
Uncertain about battery consumption with browsers yet. I'm hopeful, and the back of my tablet not being a toaster oven all the time while browsing on Xda gives me hope, but again, this is me just being hopeful.
Nothing for enabling the notification LED yet. Weird.

Thanks for the impressions. Hopefully the excessive power usage while using browser is fixed or will be soon.
I will note though that even though it shouldn't need to be used to avoid using Chrome, I think that using Tapatalk to browse XDA is a better experience. IMO, of course.

I noticed this too and im glad it wasnt only me. Certain websites cause the tablet to heat up, sometimes taking up as much as 40-50% CPU in the background until i force stop it.
Just flashed and rerooted. I hope its smooth now

That heat is coming from the processor, that just means it's just under heavy load.
Sadly, WiFi 802.1x auth still doesn't work (PEAP) and the "Sign-in to Wifi network" screen is still blank for me. (Tested with Cisco Wireless LAN Controller at work.)

I've noticed the same thing. Basically the stutter and lags have pretty much been fixed. For those wondering the home screen refresh has also been fixed.
I've been testing battery life today in combination with the chrome beta browser. Where I used to get 4/5 hours of sot with a single charge I'm now at 4.15 minutes of sot with 52% of battery left.
The new update has done wonders for the n9 and it just shows how much lollipop is still in it's infancy and still needs some updates to get everything sorted out. I'm sure it's the same for the Nexus 6.

IS this refresh the re-draw of the launcher when turning the device orientation in an app and then exiting?

I think he is referring to the re-draw that seems to occur randomly when returning back to the home screen. Based on the impressions I may just flash the factory image to LRX21Q if these improvements are widespread. I still haven't received the OTA and can't sideload it because my tablet is still on the pre-release BL for some reason.

Was never a problem with my nexus 9. Working flawless.
It feels faster for sure, doesn't seem to get as hot either but maybe it does.
Yes I definitely see the improvement. I was one of the first buyers on the first day. But the unit I got has defected NFC chip. I returned it and got a replacement. Latest update definitely fixed the stutters and lags. I can vow for this.

Is this under heavy usage?
Overheating and Screen Flickering
Do you think that the overheating issue near the camera and the issue where the screen is flickering when the device is not at full brightness, can be fixed by a software update or a firmware update?

Just a heads-up, this OTA provides a VERY significant performance improvement - there was a Kernel regression that they fixed on this build regarding memory cgroups. Its very noticeable while using the tablet with this new patch.
I haven't noticed a difference yet but I didn't do s full wipe when I flashed.
