I have win 7 x64. htc sync + official android sdk for win x64 made it right for me.
It is possible that my system downloaded drivers from the Internet also.
Did you try that (htc sync + official android sdk for win x64) ? You can do a online search for drivers (from the device manager).

Hy guys I've got a bit of a problem over here. I want to use my wildfire for testing apps as a emulator in eclipse. Problem is that in SDK manager cant ''find'' my phone. So far i download the USB driver package, revision 3. But when i connect to the computer the windows cant find the drivers in directory "....\android-sdk-windows\usb_driver". Then i installed HTC sync since it has usb drivers, but still i couldnt see it in SDK manager. I runned ddms where i'm able to see my phone. At the end i deleted the drivers and installed PdaNet, the result was the same.
I wonder what i'm i missing ?
Btw what option should i choise when i connect phone to the computer ? ( Charge only, HTC sync etc. )
And yes i set my phone to USB Debug mode
I'm using Windows XP SP3 & Wildfire is not rooted ( 2.1 android )
I hope my english is fine and thank you for your answers
Anyone ?
You windows xp is 64bit ? If yes, you can't install this. And if no, try install drivers from sd card.
No i use 32 bit system , but i'll try to install them for SD
I have a folder for android stuff like fastboot and adb that I keep for fixing my phone. I keep the minimum files required for fastboot to work... adb.exe, adbwinapi.dll, fastboot.exe and the 64bit usb drivers.
I used to be able to use fastboot even after formatting my computer (and reinstalling the drivers), but it's been a long time and when I tried to do the same again, it no longer works.
Windows says the driver is not compatible with the device. I download Android SDK Tools to download the usb drivers there. They install, but fastboot still doesn't detect the phone.
I tried following tutorials out there to get fastboot to work, but I tried on 2 HTC Dreams and they don't get detected. What am I missing?
Only thing I remember being different is that I'm using Windows 7 x64 SP1 now and before I was using plain Windows 7 x64.
You need to use the usb driver removal tool and install the usb driver from SDK.
yes you've got my same trouble.
this is my thread.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032249

The old drivers I had were never installed. For some reason, Windows did not recognize a compatible driver. I did download a fresh set of drivers from SDK and windows did install them, but fastboot devices is not listing anything.

I see no reason why I can't use fastboot on Windows if it worked before. Perhaps if there is no other way, I'll try Linux distros.
It sound like there is no compatible driver for Windows 7 x64 SP1. Check google to see may be they might have an updates.

So there is an actual difference between win7 and sp1 in regards to the drivers and not that I set it up wrong?
From my experience on working with Windows. Every version always different. As far as how much different, I can't tell.
If you had it working with W7 before SP1, then there is a change in driver that causing it not to work correctly. Do you required to upgrade to W7 SP1? Or is that your preference?

Looks like your list of drivers for the phone
- Drivers (necessary/required) dont know what you meant, but I count that there is something
- HTC drivers
- Windows drivers
- Android drivers
First, uninstall all drivers for the phone, of course reboot is needed after that and then install these two: Windows Mobile Device Center and android drivers
Windows Update
After run HARET_PHOTON7227 and have fastboot screen, plug phone on usb and configure windows 7 to find drivers on Windows Update and install.
My EU HD2 is running MAGLDR 1.13 which I installed from my Windows 7 PC, but I threw it away because it was too slow. I installed Windows for Parallels on my MacBook running Lion. I put my HD2 in USB Flasher mode, and it says "wait USB" but it doesn't say "USB" after that. On my computer it says "the device driver was not successfully installed". I tried installing the Google USB driver but it didn't install properly. I also tried following this thread, but I didn't understand it much. Can someone help me out? Thanks.
Problem Solved
Dear All,
I was facing the same Issue. And I know this thread is very old and Issue may be resolved. Just in case somebody like me searching for resolution can do the following :
1. for XP => Install Active Sync
2. for Win Vista / Win 7 => Install Windows Mobile Device Center

@me_malik: Are you sure this way it will help?
As far as I remember, Active sync/WMDC is for devices running on windows mobile up to version 6.5.5 and are discontinued afterward. The USB drivers installed for MAGDLR or CLK are different and can be found in the AndroidSDK folders.
I am responding because I am also facing the same issue and WMDC is already installed on my computer for the other HTC phone still running on Windows Mobile 6.5.5.
Thanks for the response though.

Might be a little late, but which drivers are failing to install? I had a couple of issues getting everything configured on Windows 8 64-bit. For the Samsung USB drivers I had to use Compatibility mode for Windows 7 to get them to install. When I installed Windows Mobile Device Center drivers for the DFT image installer, I had to use compatibility mode for Windows Vista. Might want to try using the compatibility mode and see if it helps. You can right-click on the .exe for the driver install and go to the compatibility tab to set the version.
See here for much more detail: sevenforums.com/tutorials/316-compatibility-mode.html
I had the same issue on Windows 8. I then tried it in Windows 7, even then it failed. Then I restarted the system and soon the driver got installed.
