hey guys ,i have in my hands a brand new galaxy s4 live demo unit ,does anyone knows what can i do to use this device like proper phone ,with gsm network. I read about s3 live demo unit ,it has de gsm module but it seems a "antena" is the problem..Does anyone did this kind of transformation on s2,s3 etc ?

At this point I think this question does indeed belong to the developers section. It would be pretty cool to be able to convert Demo Units to normal phones. I have a lot of friends who own mobile phone shops and would like to make this conversion. Besides it is a shame to have a half-working S4 and not be able to make it work!
Hope that developers can solve this in the future and I would be happy to donate as there is a chance to get my hands on a demo unit, too.

you could just do wipe in recovery and RETAIL MODE app will be deleted
Go into the Samsung retail mode app. The passcode is 5444. Go to demo mode timing or something like that and set it to start at like 4:00am and finish at 4:01am. Thats what I did. Works a treat

please open tis phone and make few pictures of it. I mean mainboard. Then we will know if is possibility to fix it or not.
Because if is radio(modem) on this unit is possible. if not it isn't.
But second think which we need is unlocked bootloader. But first please share a photo.

i have a demo unit of the note 2 and to get rid of it i flashed a custom rom onto it and now its working like a tablet but still without sim related activities eg calling etc and fm radio. does anyone know how to unlock the antenna and use it as a proper phone ?
But if we use that trick (for running live demo video for one minute only) the things we store on the phone will still be deleted? Cheers

Yes, it will. It will even go as far as deleting you r SD card if you insert it.
The wipe in recovery mode won't do the trick either if you have the LDU. The retail mode DCT and retaimedia.zip are integrated in the software and when it reinstalls the apps it will reinstall the RM. Flashing a I9505 firmware on I9505X doesn't work either, it messes up the wifi radio and other things.

I have 2 motherboard one live demo and one of a carrier . The one of a carrier had a problem with connector of lcd I dont know why lcd dosent work just flash white and black if it possible to past the basband ship from the carrier to the demo .

Which GPS application does it not work with ?
i was with the same problem , and i solved it with and rom update , im my case PTR , but today i had to do and ard reset after the phone came crazy , but i works ok again.
but if any 1 know any way to activate it from the registry i think i was better
i think same operators block the internal gps, so thy have the gps option for the same model or if the phone its on an promotion it will not have gps, in my case i think was it , but on the box it say optional i star to look for information and i fond the update for the rom and test it , i was on this forum.

GPS hardware problem
Hi guys. I have the following problem. The GPS is working but is saying always low signal. I sent him to repair the earphone and since then is always saying that. I am thinking that is something covering the GPS which makes him with low sign. Anyone knows any video or any ideia where the GPS is physically. I need to open the phone and visualise if is anything wrong with the GPS hardware.

I purchased this phone on Ebay and didnt realise at the time that it came pre loaded with Telstra software which prevents me form accessing the net etc. I am with "3" and would prefer to keep the phone - can anyone help solve this issue?
your quick fix would be to Flash a new Rom

This is all about getting a phone for my sister who has vey poor reception at her farm in the country but where my HD2 works great. None of her three children who all have different types of phones gets as good as reception has the HD2. She wants to buy a phone doesn't want to get it home and find the reception is poor and having wasted her money. I could sell her mine (as I quite like the look of the Desire) and try to tweek it - or she could get one of her own from ebay (item 300447152858) which has already been done. Question then is, will it have the same reception - what part of the phone tells me that sort of info.

the very first thing that you're gonna have to do is flash an older Telstra ROM after you HSPL it. then you can flash whatever ROM you want. i speak from experience. good luck!
no no no... The Telstra phone doesn't prevent you from connecting to the net, it simply doesn't have the settings to connect to 3...
Ring 3 and get all the settings and create a new connection on your HD2...

Actually, whilst you'll get your 3 sim working, you'll have problems getting any desent net connection
Advise, actually flashing HSPL & then custom rom. It all takes a bit of time reading & understanding how it all works but trust me its the best thing to do.
I had probs getting my 3 sim working properly but eversince I started using custom roms, on 1st boot the device picks up the 3 settings automatically & runs perfect

As far as reception goes, your best bet is to stick to telstra. Or 3 as a second option, which runs on the telstra network when roaming.

that's actually more because the cooked roms generally contain the.global connectionsetup program that includes settings for most carriers than the rom itself. you can find it as a cab, which should work on the stock Telstra rom.
hi i recently bought Nexus 4 i am soo excited to be honest there is hardly enough words to describe .. its awesome .. i wanted to install pandora internet radio app on my N4 but i am unable to install it since i am living outside US .. i have used tunnel bear and still i am not able to install it .. in search option pandora internet radio doesnt show up , if you guys help me out that would be great .. and btw i an new to andriod

i've been searching the entire forum and turned it upside down, but I couldn't find any solution to my problem.
Basically the problem is that my phone (bought in China, it's not the original) doesn't connect to 3G network, therefore the data flow is too slow and I am not able to access to play market, or using whatsapp properly. Any other wcdma phone works great in my neighborhood, so it's not matter or bad coverage area.
Would you just help me if any of you has experienced the same problem?
I rooted it, but now I am stuck

i have visited apkgege.com forum.. and looks like i have confirmed that my unit is actually mt6515.. which explain why im getting GSM only setting thru engineering mode.. and which explains why im having black screen while flkashing mt6575 custom roms..

Hi all, this is my first post or thread, i came here cause i heard from ppl this is best site for asking questions about cell phones, i started reading allot this forum and wow did i enter the other world i really like and wanna participate in.
Srry for little intro and lets get back to topic. So i got my first "normal" android and got trouble with it. I am using Samsung galaxy s5 g900F (european) factory unlocked and T-mobile as carrier with 4.4.2 kitkat. I have a big problem with a data connection that keeps going off every 30sec to 5 min if i use option to search and auttoconnect on LTE/WCDMA/GSM option. I read forum but no1 is mentioning this model as problematic 1 so now i post thread about.
Does any1 know what could be problem and how to solve it. Sometimes my data connection comes back and sometimes it doesnt and i have to switch type of network to get back again online. All other options that don't include LTE auttoconnect work just fine, i tried to get another SIM from carrier but same problem, i tried to get another Phone since i work in hardware firm and still same problem on another device, both were same models.
I still didn't put any ROMs but i really consider doing it maybe l8r on, it is stock version.
Pls be genttle since this is first time i post, maybe i did it on wrong place but i did read rules and everything and i think i did it on right place.

I did have a slightly similar problem years ago - when in roaming my phone could not connect to anything. What helped was a change of simcard for a new model - after that all was good.
Since you did try your SIM on a different phone (same 900F?) I would advise you to try: first on a completely different brand and phone model - if you can.
If this does not solve your problem do shake your service provider a bit - they could have supplied you with two faulty SIM cards in a row - that can happen. Otherwise - maybe there is a stupid limitation in your service plan which is causing this. There is no - to my knowledge - ready answer to the problem you have described.
Best of luck and if you do solve it come back and post - it will be very useful to lots of people for sure

Too many variables. You haven't observed enough of a pattern yet or tried enough things to narrow it down a bit. It could just as easily be carrier side issues as a bug in the firmware not negotiating a new connection if the LTE signal is lost.
A number of people were having data disconnect issues and that was addressed in the 4.4.3 /4.4.4 update. So that is one option to consider. And you could open a support ticket with your carrier. That is hit and miss as to results, but sometimes tickets actually resolve issues.
There are also a number of apps that may mitigate or possibly even solve your issue. Have a look at 4G LTE Switch and LTE Discovery.
