When I try to connect to ODIN, I see 2 yellow cells (2 IDs, 0 and 1).
The flashing process fails on system.img (message in Odin is 1 successful/ 1 failed). The message is that (while trying to flash system.img) it cannot connect to the COM port (of ID:0, while my phone is actually ID:1)
I am trying to flash XXUAMDM Hybrid Firmware by djembley.
After automatic reboot, the system is trying to obtain root by CF-Auto-Root. Both MD5 files ( XXUAMDM and CF-Auto-Root) and are in the same location.
I have tried to search for this (google, xda forums), but did not found anything....
EDIT: Solved, see my last post (#4)
did u try with odin v3.07 ??
Its the same with any Odin version, 2 yellow boxes...

Ensure KIES any KIES processes are killed (check on task manager).
Check drivers are up to date and you are connecting directly to the PC USB port.

That was actually the problem. Somehow, without any restart, etc, Kies Agent started (nothing showed up the the notification area, though).
Killed it in Task Manager and.... voila....
Thanks!

Hey all,
I am attempting to restore Vibrant back to 2.1 in order to try out Samsung's official 2.2. When I go into Download Mode and plug up to the PC, ODIN detects the phone, but it will randomly give the noise where you unplug something from USB, and ODIN will say removed, then almost immediately say my phone is added again. I'm nervous to try flashing at this point because I don't want that to happen while I'm restoring to 2.1.
I'm running Windows 7 x64. Has anyone had this problem?

Tried this as well, no different result.
Windows 7 is saying:
USB device not recognized
Device driver was not successfully installed
Unidentified device: (red x) device unplugged
SAMSUNG Mobile Modem: ready to use
I'm currently using Nero v5 with voodoo lagfix disabled
Sounds like you could have something as simple as a bad or fatigued USB port or cable. I've seen this sort of behavior with USB devices before and it's usually from a port connection making poor or intermittent contact. Whether it's a port on your cable (either end), your phone, or the ports on your PC...hard to say...

Yes that was the next thing I did. Same result. Is there an issue with the drivers I'm using because of the ROM I'm running? Do I need different drivers?

That ROM should have no effect on the drivers. Have you tried installing the drivers by updating the kies program? You might have to install the drivers and software first.

Yes sir, Kies is up to date as well, and says unrecognized device (obviously lol).
As an aside, as I keep trying and trying, now windows is telling me a usb device has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it.

Yes, I just plugged my ipod in and am using it as normal. I am also able to use the phone in mass storage mode as well. The problem only seems to occur when the phone is plugged in during download mode.
I think your driver is corrupt. You should uninstall kies and the usb driver, reboot, and reinstall. Stupid question, have you tried a battery pull on the phone?

Ok, I will try that now. I have entered download mode with and without the battery. I will let you know in a few minutes after uninstalling kies and the drivers, and reinstalling the drivers.

When you try odin are you:
1. Opening odin.
2. Selecting the pit and tar files.
3. Putting the phone into download mode.
4. Plugging the phone into the PC.
In that order?

I was opening Odin, putting phone into DL mode, plugging it in, and then messing with the files. When I started the thread this morning it would remove / add constantly, and then it went to not detecting my phone at all and giving me the error message (only in DL mode) once I installed and updated Kies. Reinstalling Samsung drivers now, just rebooted.
Just reinstalled drivers and attempted in the order you provided, and windows is still saying that there was a malfunction with the device.
Can you try a different usb cable?
Kies is still installed right?
Can you use a different pc?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Yes. My sister has the same phone and cable. I'll borrow hers and see if that helps. I appreciate the quick responses, by the way. Thank you very much.
Would the cable only cause it to act up during DL mode and not regular? I can mount normally, etc.
Edit: Odin detects my phone while it's turned on normally. I don't supposed that helps me any.
If there is a bad connection you can have issues.

:silly: lol
anyway, I had the same problem but WITH the down menu.so not a solution for me.
Just write here for any future needs -- I uninstalled the drivers from the device manager, as it was showing one "Samsung blabla device"
after reinstalling the drivers (google SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.5.9.0.exe)
it detected 2 devices in Odin mode (down+up+power) "Samsung modem" and "Samsung blabla2..."
so now it detected all OK
Possible solution
Hi, I can have found the solution for this, when i conected the galaxy S4 to the computer (already on Download Mode) it pops out a message saying that the driver could not be installed, I went to the advenced and clicked on the option "Yes" and then after a while a looked to Odin 3.09 and it was with the BLUE rectangle.
Hope you understand!! Thank you all!
Lucas
1) Download CF-Auto-Root for the Galaxy Note 2, as well as Odin3 v3.09
2) Put your Galaxy Note 2 in Download Mode by holding the Volume Down, Home and Power buttons. When a warning prompt appears, press Volume Up to enter Download mode.
3) Unzip the CF-Auto-Root archive to retrieve the .tar.md5 file. Unzip Odin. Right click on Odin and run the application as an administrator.
4) Using your USB cable, connect your Galaxy Note 2 to your computer. You should see a yellow box with the message “Added!” If this does not occur, reinstall your computer’s USB drivers.
5) Within Odin, press the AP button and select the tar.md5 file extracted from the CF-Auto-Root archive.
6) Select Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time while leaving all other boxes unchecked.
7) Click start and wait until the installation process completes. Any interruption may result in a bricked device.
8) After a PASS message appears, your phone will reboot automatically and you’ll officially be rooted.
Thanks. Very helpfull.
Please give a video tutorial.how I install.please.

worked for me but:
crazy enough, 15 minutes before rooting my phone, I had installed cyonagen with android 4.4.2 and the USB drivers and the cable worked fine.
Yet, Odin would not recognized the phone.
So I followed the instructions and re-installed the samsung USB drivers again, No need to reboot the computer, I just unplugged the USB cable and plugged it again and Odin immediately recognized the phone.
really strange.
All good now.
thx a lot

Hi everyone,
I tried to root my note 2 following the step in the first post, i get a "PASS" on odin, but the phone says "SuperSu stop working" and close.
Then i downloaded from the market the "root checker" app, and it says that my device is not rooted, how to root it? i'm pretty sure i did everything correct with odin because when i had a galaxy s i usually put custom rom on it, so i have a little amount of experience on this field, btw this time i dont know really what to do, can anyone help?
EDIT:
I Searched for "SuperSu PRO" and installed it, without removing the supersu that installed with the root process, so as i say i downloaded SuperSu, installed it, and when opened, it asked for update, did the update and the phone says that knox has been found, and it asked if they have to disable it or not, i clicked ok, and it says "Knox disabled with success!" then ok, and it ask for a reboot, did it by pressing power button and reboot.
After the reboot, i re-opened the root checker app and it say "Congratulations! this devics has root access!"
Thats how i did it, i'm sorry for my bad english but as i say i'm italian, for any question about it, feel free to send me an mp, or write in this post, happy that i finally rooted my note 2, see you
When I root my phone by cf auto then in odin say RESET.anyone can help me?
also had a problem where super su stopped working and root checker stated i was not rooted, all it needs is super su update, thats all!
Hi.
I´ve already tryed the process twice,
No error on the process.
But after the phone reboots, no Su App appears.
As if the Su is not installed.
Tryed to install on Google play, but is says he cant find any binary...
Any other process to try ?
thanks
