I recently looked at another account on my nex7 and it has a magnifying glass in the status bar all the time. Plus it has "search by Google" in the pull down notification area. Wtf is that from? Is there a setting somewhere to get rid of that?

That's not part of Android. It must be a 3rd party app.

Are you using a non-stock launcher. Many of them have additional options for notification area icons.
I think I know what happened. My son installed some sort of game add on that came with a search feature. I realized when using that search by Google tab in the dropdown it went to some free game search site. But what was weird is I uninstalled everything on that account and it was still there. Nuking the entire account made it go away though

Ok so I got a replacement N7 today and I wanted to reinstall my previous apps.
I didn't want to go through the tedious job of going through the N7's Play store and selecting each app to install again.
So I went online on my laptop to the play store. It changed some, now it shows pictures of my devices and what's installed on them
There is my N7, but it looks like it's my previous unit. I see the apps i had installed in the list as installed apps. So I go into each and try to reinstall them on my new N7. It won't says I already have them installed..
I removed them, go to my phone's image and proceed to reinstall the apps in that list to my N7, again can't they are already installed.
Ok, how do I reset that?
I went to the play store on my computer, selected my Android apps, then clicked all the apps that were on my old nexus 7. Then I went through and selected to install them on my new one.

Did the sad thing but when I would select my nexus 7 it said it was already installed and wouldn't let me. I had to change the name of My previous unit. Reset my new unit and set it up again. It then showed up as another nexus 7 on my account and it allowed me to reinstall.

I'm in the process of getting a replacement due to the screen creaking and slow to respond to screen taps issues.
Not sure if this will work but I'm planning to archive my Apps with a Back Up program and temporarily copy teh back up file to Dropbox until I get my new one. I'll then install the back up programe and, move the file back and then restore
May be (i) a sledgehammer to crack a nut or (b) doomed to failure but it works in my head
Google sucks with their app management. On the play site, you can't get to page 21 (really, a search company can't code it to display more than 20 pages...) of your apps and it lists every app you've ever installed on any device. The best way I found when I was first installing everything was to flip the nexus 7 landscape and it had the tablet interface. That way I could pick the apps to install and not have to re-scroll through the entire list of apps from the top every time I chose one to install.

True that... what's with shopping being on a drop down menu? I use google to price stuff, you'd think they'd want to make using them for that type of revenue searching easier.

After rooting my Nexus 7, the device is now missing from the "My Apps" section of the Play Store.
Has anyone else had this problem and know what to do?
Possibly not the right answer, but;
Hit the arrow that is sitting next to the search icon at the top of the market home page. That takes you to your downloaded/installed apps, and you can scroll across to see all apps from there as well.
Umm when you root, you lose all your apps, you gotta restore them
The biggest issue is that Google doesn't think he has a nexus. I give it a day or so, in the meanwhile install off of the nexus.

Umm OP is not referring to missing apps. He/she is referring to his/her device not appearing anymore in Google Play. this means he/she cannot use the Play website to install apps on his/her Nexus 7.
As someone else mentioned, just give Google a little while to update itself. another thing to check is to login at play.google.com, click the settings icon (looks like a little gear) at the top right of page and goto 'My orders and Settings' then click the Settings tab, and check if your device is listed but not selected as 'Shown in Menus'
So, over the year(s), I have installed, tried, uninstalled, hundreds of android apps on multiple devices.
So I got my new Nexus 7 and wanted to browse through my list of apps in Google Play. Problem is that there are too many listed there. If you scroll through (I guess it's most recent first) it takes dozens of scrolls to get to the end.
And if I find a few things I want down near the end of the list, once you install one, the list goes back to the begginning!
I'd like to be able to remove from the Play Store listing, those 100 or so apps that I know I will never be reinstalling.
Also, the web version of the play store, only shows the first 180 or so, I can't even get to those labled P through Z!
Search yielded little so I turn to you for help.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
I'd like to know exactly the same thing. So far not found anything.

I would also be very interested to find out how to do this.

Not at the moment. It does need to be addressed, and one would assume it will be. It's a complete mess.

Permanently removing uninstalled apps
At this time, there is no way to permanently delete or remove apps from the Google Play website (My Orders/My Android Apps) or from the Google Play Store app (My Apps) that you’ve previously downloaded but have since uninstalled.
Too lazy to type lol...that was too easy but u sure knocked it out the park
Browse the play store in landscape so you don't have the list reset every time.
I wish they would at least let you filter your old apps... I'm much more interested in seeing the apps that I actually paid for lol.

Anyone wanting to see paid apps only, you need to install this modified play store APK from Modaco.

Just in case anyone is interested...
I've been a Springpad user for a while, and use the 'spring it' feature from the Play store app to create lists - purchased apps, essential apps, etc. It's really helped with organisation. I just click the saved link from Springpad, and I'm sent straight to the relevant Play store entry.
Yeah, so it's a bit of a dirty fix, but it suits me until Google get the Play store niggles sorted. Guessing it will work with other task/organisation apps, but haven't tried...
Hi guys,
I noticed last week that the search with camera option just went missing from goggle now. Since I don't use any 3rd party apps for barcode scanning, can anyone help reason on why and how has the option disappeared.
Sent from my Nexus 4
First time when u installed Google Goggles. Did u check Search with Camera option?
I started using the option from the start through Google Now... Now I find that it suddenly disappeared. Just wanted to know if anyone has bought this up and found out the reason.

Yeah, that feature's been removed in the latest update. Goggles essentially replaces it, but if you really want it, uninstall the most recent update for Search.

Alright thanks guys. I guess I'll have to just install goggles till Google integrates it back into Now.

Worst part is that ios still has that option. What's up with that?
Hi,
I'm running stock 4.3 on my Nexus 4 (unrooted). Recently I've been getting this "No Client" notification popup at the bottom of my screen, it's independent of the app or window I'm on. It's driving me mad, I really don't know what it is.
Can anyone help?
Anybody with any clues? Ideas about suspect Apps or settings?
its one of your apps, 100%.
How do I find out which app?
you can uninstall your apps, then install them one by one until you find the guilty app. or you can go through all your apps settings until you find it.

I'm thinking I should look for an app running in the background? Or can the popup/alert show up from any app? Oh boy, I have a lot of apps, it's gonna take a while!
This is driving me nuts..ive uninstalled/reinstalled most of my apps..and i still get this nagging popup!!
Do you use "Android Widget Pro" ?
Happens on my stock Nexus 5 as well.
Happening on my stock Nexus 7 2013 more and more frequently. Hopefully someone can identify the guilt app so I don't have to rebuild.
And no I don't use Android Widget Pro.
This has been bothering me for months. It has to be an app but I have no idea which one. I have over 200 apps installed so although the uninstall/reinstall idea would be effective, it is not practical for me. If the message was consistent maybe, but its not. Anyone with less apps installed want to try?
Same for me on my Nexus 4. Getting insane!!!

how about a screen shot of what you are seeing? I'm not getting the popup on my N4 or N7.

I am getting this with my Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet. I wonder what causes this. It makes Android feel unpolished.
I have this on my XDA 1. As i don't have many apps I'll list them below and see if you notice any the same. hope this helps/works.

I unlocked my bootloader, rooted and installed CM. Installing my apps day by day and the stupid toast started appearing last night. I'll try to narrow down the app based on the time of install.
Right now I'm suspecting Pocket Casts.

Got the issue on my 2013 Nexus 7, unrooted. I'm not using Pocket Casts, using BeyondPod as a podcast client.
How about greader pro? I've been reading on another thread that turning location options off then on again in Google Settings sorts the problem.

No not using that app either. Mine is becoming more frequent, its annoying but not annoying enough to do a factory wipe. Hopefully someone will narrow down the issue to an app or setting soon!
