Default Which ROM should I download?
I am currently running CyanogenMod 5.0.5.3 on my nexus one. However, I am eager to try something new. The reasons for switching are due to some stability issues with the ROM.
My checklist is quite small:
1) built in tethering
2) easy of use
3) very reliable and stable
Optional
2) would prefer support for Persian/Arabic font. however, it' is not essential
Any ideas?
you can try Enomther's latest release (1.9.2) released today; very stable with bunch of features; check out his changelog in the development section
If you want bunch of features, try Cyanogen's...
dont ask.....different ppl....diff opinions.... diff tastes.....try them....there are not many
Why not just wait for Froyo? Tethering out-of-the-box.

+1 agreed...
He's posting this across multiple boards trying to get answers... as I told him on another board:
Run over to XDA and read the posts on the ROM's out there and look at the feature lists.
You really should do the legwork yourself as other have.

The time spent to make an account and spam all these boards with this post could have been used to read the feature lists and decide on a ROM for himself.
As chowdarygm said, there are not many...
HI - well you have a decent amount of choice if you're using the nexus one. I tend to stick with roms from either @cyanogen or @kingklick92 i.e the CM rom or Desire Port respectively.
I made a blog post about it - have a read and maybe it will help with your decision.
Moving on from that there are a few enhancements you can apply to the ROM's, specifically you can 'undervolt' your ROM to save some power by moving across a new kernel.
I've tried loads of them to be honest - as earlier posters have said, the Nexus one development forum here at XDA is a great place to start, there is a stickie with a ROM list - a good start.
thanks, I appreciate it. I am still a newcomer.

Try Kang-o-rama...
New beta is based on CM 5.0.7, includes an OC/UV/21MB kernel, mods, optimisations and some great apps.
The best thing is that it installs in one hit, works together and is nice and quick.

Same here. The only mod I make to it is swapping out HelixLauncher or whatever it is for Launcher Pro, which seems to be much more stable.
I stick to the Cyanogen-based stuff because it's the standard, and also because I had a hell of a time dealing with those KingKx roms for my old G1. I was flashing and wiping so much my ass was raw, and Cyanogen roms are usually wipe-free.

im asking for features from the ROM not the ROM
it would be nice to see "always on" from Moto X
Why not port the full rom instead of individual features?

It will burn through battery since the G doesn't have a dedicated low power chip. Even with its great battery life.

Working on a fix right now not sure if it will work or not maybe two versions of the ROM one with and one without

If we have CWM you can simply make a flashable zip of this "always listening" feature one of the best things on android. The possibilities.
This ROMs will be available for both single and dual SIM versions? I'm afraid that we can't get CyanogenMod for the dual sim version of Moto G.
Honestly, unless you have something to show for it, this sort of thread belongs in general discussion and not development.
Did you read the thread that is stickied to this forum? It clearly says:

I'd like a solid device build profile so that AOSP based roms can be compiled before even thinking about miscellaneous features.

It is going to be based off of the stock rom so hopefully yes it will be able to run on both
I'm not an expert but probably to optimize the always listening feature should be useful modifying the kernel? I mean..it only one of the four cores is used for this function while the other three sleeps, probably the battery drain would be less aggressive? Sorry it I said something wrong. Anyway this device can become GREAT with some developing so happy

We won't see any sort of kernel modifications until Motorola release source.

It isn't aosp it is based off of stick which has already been posted. And I can ask for features I'm not toting a rom I'm asking for ideas that rule is inapplicable
Hi, why there are so few custom roms and kernels for this great device? Compared to n5 for ex which is on the same platform..

We are going for quality here, not quantity ...
(And there are quite different in many things it matters, its not 1:1 to n5...)

The nexus may be similar to the g2 in the hardware departmant but they are completely different when it comes to the software department, we may not have hundreds of thousands of roms but we have quality and in my experience with other devices(mainly samsung which tend to have lots of roms) I don't see myself constantly changing roms/kernels anymore and that is good because there are less chances of bricking my device because of crack flashing

Ok.. I like the stock android, is there any rom with pure android like nexus one?

well that was the only rom that was more pure nexus, your best bet would be to look through the g2 aosp and look for the one that resembles nexus the most or what you would like in the rom, best of luck
I'm seriously thinking of buying one of these with the "1.7GHz octa-core Cortex-A7 CPU; 2 GB of RAM" version.
I'm not real happy and the operating system but I have read that lollipop has been installed and there are instruction for doing so.
However it did not state which version it was installed on?
Will it work on all versions?
Thanks...

The only one I saw was Android 5.0 for Mi 2/2S at the Miui site.
Where did you see one for the Note?

I have that feature but I did not notice it at the top of the page.
I like these roms better better
The obstacle against better ROM's is the lack of the kernel source.
This why developers here don't do much with Miui.
Don't see this changing, so just have to find ROM's elsewhere.

Maybe things will break loose before long because they are selling a lot of these devices.
BTW; Will these roms you pointed me to work on the version I'm interested in?

I have the Redmi Note 1W. It was sent to me by a friend in Malaysia.
Can only get 3G as it lacks the bands for LTE.
There is a newer version out for 4G/LTE.
Not sure if it has the bands necessary for the U.S. since it is sold in Asia
and Europe.

Great stuff, need a little more work but this is exiting.
Looking forward for updates
There's a thread about it in the original development custom ROMs section by the actual author of the P600 ROM here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-cyanogenmod-14-0-unofficial-builds-t3457898/
which has seen a bit of activity, including a newer build.

SM-p605v?
I've got the verizon 2014 tablet, and about half a year ago I spent something like a month solid trying to root, to no avail. Would this rom flash over ODIN? I'm extremely tempted, but I would really like to not kill my tablet, as I use it for school constantly.

Pretty much, the P605(v) versions have completely different internals (Qualcomm) to the P600 (Exynos), it'd be like flashing a ROM for an HTC device on an LG device (substitute any two different devices you like)
