As a noob here and this is my first post... I tried searching for the S3 Alarm widget, downloaded the S3 APK pack that was posted on here, but I cannot find the S3 Alarm 2x1 widget that I can use to install on my S4. I don't know why I am partial to that S3 Alarm widget, but I loved it. It appears to be a stock app because I did a factory reset on my S3 and the Alarm widget is there.
Does anyone know of a way to get that as an APK and install it on the S4?
Sorry if this is indeed a repost in case I didn't go through enough of the search results to find it. Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided.
yeah i got you man

If the install doesn't work, try to put it into /system/app on your phone and reboot.
See if that works better.

Thanks in advance, that will be awesome. I finally got the 4x1 Alarm widget to show up in my apps/widgets list. Apparently you have to create an alarm before the widget will appear on the S4. Also, the 4x1 is not resizable like other widgets on Android 4.2.x
I sent you an email earlier... so thanks again for the offer and being so quick to respond.
Apologies for reviving this one but the s4 alarm widget is sh1te.
I've downloaded the apk and copied it to the phone however when I try to install, I accept the permissions bit and it tries to install. After a couple of seconds just says app not installed.
I have my s3 in front of me and am wondering if there is another way to extract the system files without using the apk.
I couldn't see the system/app folder on my s4 so couldn't put it there.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Cheers,
George
solution s3 alarm widget for s4
I was also looking for alarm widget like on s3 since it was small and lightweight and 2x1.
This is what i have done:
- i had a rom from s3 on 4.3 and took clock package from it since alarm widget from s3 belongs to that package,
- i have moved clock package (and odex file to) from s4/system/app to another folder in case if i wanted to use it later,
- i moved clock package taken from s3 rom into s4/system/app and gave proper permissions (rw-r-r),
- i restarted my phone and there in the widgets was s3 alarm widget 2x1
I'm not responsible for any unusuall things happen on your phone using this tutorial!
Don't forget to back up...

Hi guys, Can someone post the original HTCLockscreen.odex and HTCLockscreen.apk. I was playing with the phone root and HTCLockscreen.odex is no longer there. I rename it to HTCLockscreen.odex.bak, but after the restart is no longer there.
I found that after I took the apk and odex out, I was unable to reinstall them- I'm assuming your phone now has the stock lock but it's transparent. The best solution I could come up with was the Widget Locker app- I'm actually very happy with it- it's alot nicer than the stock unlock and the HTC unlock. The only thing I've noticed but haven't looked into much yet is that the genius button long press will unlock the phone, which is a bummer for when it's in my pocket (even though I have all the button unlocks disabled) Hope that helps! I think your only other solution would be to restore a previous backup that had the lockscreen intact.
I would but idk how to attach a file straight from the phone

Why would you ever want that horrid lock screen? Blocks half of the wallpaper.
Use rooted explorer for this. New app, kinda laggy but you can email, copy/paste the APKs and odex. NOT root explorer, its rooted explorer.

Ive seen some black google internet widgets on some ROMs and was wondering if anybody knew where to find that at?? Like a flashable zip or an apk that makes the google search widget turn all black. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Its in my theme and in the mysterious beast theme. Either flash either one of the themes or delete everything but the apk and flash that.

The one for google voice was the only one that worked for me. Flashing talk and mail made them vanish from the menu. Maybe I did something wrong? Trying to restore with titanium wouldn't fix it either.

Please post questions in General section.
Ever since I flashed froyo on my phone I have had problems with my weather ticker. It hasn't been updating/refreshing like it should. Also when I click the icon on my ticker it no longer opens weather bug anyone know why?
If your running ec07. Try the GPS fix.

Well, It wasn't working when I used EC03, and yesterday I switched to EC07. Still isn't working. I'm hesitant to try the GPS Fix because it's a shot in the dark if it would work and it's going to take a quite a bit of time for me to figure out ADB.
Any other suggestions? :/
Copy and paste GPS. Conf with root explorer in folder that the adb command says in post. Then reboot. Make sure to mount r/w in folder pasting to. (Button on top in root explr)

Ah thank you. I copied the gsp.config over, lets see if it works....
EDIT: Nope, a no go on the weather ticker. I can't even open it.
Are you on a stock ROM or one of the manymodded ROMs? the only reason it wouldn't open would be if someone deleted the app or if your ticker is forever "locked"which I have seen before....
Sent from my SCH-I400 using xda premium
I'm using Nuckins ROM. I don't think the ticker is locked, because I can still open my Text messages via the ticker bar. Just the weather thingymabobber won't come up, and the only way I can refresh it is by manually going into the weather ticker settings and clicking Refresh. It doesn't even seem to refresh automatically every 3 hours, like it is set to do.
I'm not sure if Nuckin's ROM has deleted the app or not, but if it has how can I get it back? ALSO... Before this ROM I was using THIS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1203597 ROM by pastorbennett and the weather ticker OPENED but wasn't updating with it.
I know at one point on an older flash I was using TI and deleted some essential apps for the entire ticker section without knowing it. They're have very vague names. Reflashing would definitely fix the issue, if that's something you're willing to do.
Reflashing what? I've already experimented with 2 different ROMS. First time I had EC03/pastorbennetts ROM and this time I have EC07/Nuckin's ROM.... problems with both and the weather ticker. However, slightly different problems. With EC03 I could open the weatherbug app by clicking on the weather icon, but I couldn't refresh it not even manually. This time, with EC07 I can refresh it manually but that's about it. I can't open the Weatherbug app and I don't think it's refreshing on its own either. (Although it could be, I'm just having a hard time telling since I can't open the APP and see what time it updated.)
Plus, I've reflashed both of those more than once with the same issue.
EDIT: Unless you mean to reflash stock, then flash the ROM?
EDIT2: I think I've already reflashed stop after this anyway....
EDIT3: Well, I tried to manually go into my applications and open Weatherbug and it's giving a Force Close Error. >.< I uninstalled it, and reinstalled it, same issue.
Best advice I could give is to go into <2e> then open CwM (red seems to work nicely) wipe cache wipe data factory reset then reflash the EC07_clean! This ROM fixed most problems for me and its a simple quick flash. Then you can update to whatever ROM you've been wanting to use. The entire ticker-stuffs has worked flawlessly for me on the EC07 clean so I recommend that. It was a problem I was having too since rooting my i400.
Okay so now that my phone is unbricked, haha... I'm having my lovely WB ticker problem again. Except this time, the program opens when I click the ticker BUT I can't refresh it manually with the refresh icon. Any idea why or how it can be fixed? lol
Funny, I just started having the problem where the ticker icon doesn't open the app.

Think I deleted something... -.- I'll reflash later...
I thought I fixed it, but alas, I did not. >.< WB stop haunting meeeeee.
Anyone have any other suggestions? I assume thee is no way to have the ticker use another app either?
I can very easily, (well... Pretty easily, haha.... ) make the ticker use another app, haha...

Well there's plenty of apps available in the play store, and most of them come with widgets. Try a few of them, you'll probably like them!

This happened to me, the weather widget disappeared, i was using new zealands metservice one and was stumpped for days....
So, have you recently moved it to sdcard in the application manager recently as that was what i did and it disappeared, when i moved it back device storage and then the widget was back.
THANK YOU ! you have led me in the right direction , turns out I have disabled the widget in the applications section and have completely forgot about it . Also the weather widget only works with the TouchWiz not the Nova Launcher .

You can try system app remover, you need to be rooted https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jumobile.manager.systemapp&hl=en.
And wrong section, next time you need to post in Q&A http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/help

Thanks, yeah I got it installed. Can I uninstall the Gmail app or does it need it to login to my accounts and everything? It keeps opening itself and I never actually use Gmail so I want to know if I can delete it. And sorry it appears that I post every single post in the wrong thread somehow
