HD2 with Android (General characteristics) - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hello, I open this thread because I have some questions and I guess other beginners (who want to have too. Want here to do a full assessment of the Android operating system installed on our beloved HD2
As the initiator of this thread, I will first ask questions
Since I have never installed Android, and I worked with WP 7/7.5/7.8 want to know how to keep the new versions of Android? Stable and fast are they? My questions are dictated mainly by the fact that I want to continue to use my HD2 as the primary phone in everyday life I personally switch to a clean version of Android, the opinion of people who use it I would be a great help.
I hope the topic is interesting to you and more people to ask their questions.
Thank you!

There are already lots of post on such topics. So search before you post a topic or create thread.
Almost all the android Roms are very fast, stable and suitable for daily use. Thanks to our great devs.
You will need to try ROM yourself and select which suits you the best.
I personally prefer Tytung Roms because they are most stable, fast and reliable in my case.

Hi Developers

Hi,
I am newbie on HTC HD2. It seems really good phone. I am happy to have it but I want to add some interesting apps on it to make it mine. I am not talking about wallpapers or screens. I mean other usefull apps . When I search apps section I can not see much. I belive it is new phone so not have much apps. When I read boards peoples says if I make my phone ANDROID ( I do not even know what it means) i will be able to have lots more apps. I am not good on systems so I scare I broke my phone and will not be able to fix it. For windows it is easy . I can go on market and pick what I like and phone automatic install it or I can get cab file from here and instal it. Please tell me if can run android and windows together? Or I better stay away from it? I read on board android is not developed yet and even good htc users having problems. Maybe someone assist me about it?
Regards
Okan

Ok...take a deep breath and think zen. ;-)
First of all, this is not a question you should bother developers with. They are, suprise suprise, busy developing.
Considering your experience with the hd2, my personal advice is to keep WinMo and search the forums for your cabs. You can customize about everything on your WinMo. You just need to invest some time and energy in it.
If you are stubborn like me...read further:
Yes it's possible to run Android and WinMo on your hd2. If you're new to linux/android/hd2 it'll cost you more time and energy to understand it all.
Very Important:
To install Android besides WinMo, please make sure you have read and understood this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732380
Also, make sure you read and understand this thread:

Please make sure you know what you're doing before you start using Android. It's not that you'll brick your phone, but you'll risk being flamed for asking questions which already have been asked 100 times before.
Good luck and be careful!
Ok I will read more. thanks.

Wich OS its better for my smartphone

Wich OS its better for my smartphone android or Windows mobile and let me know for tune up it like themes cool apps
You´ll have to ty yourself and find out what fits best your needs.
WinMo and Sense are offering great ways to tweak and mod your interface, but app development has virtually stopped as WinMo is a legacy product.
If you´re after tons of apps, maybe Android will be your choice (even if 80% of all the apps are just... kind of crappy). Nice mods here, too, of course.

Could you send me a guide to put android in my device im a totally noob on this xD
Please check the stickies in each sub-forum.
They usually come with links to great tutorials, hints and tipps.
For Android NAND installation, go here: Click!
for me definitely android.
best android
for me is android 2.3 ! i wait for 2.4 ! :X
as the chaps mentioned above, try to play with windows first before jumping to android. i myself use android and it's a big leap from i was used to from wm6.5. but to fully appreciate android, perhaps you can have a go with wm. you'll see the big difference and from there be able to decide as to which os is really for you.
If you're trying WM, install the free trial version of SPB Mobile Shell 3.5
Well that's stupid. A phone doesn't have feelings nor preference, so what is "best" or "better" for your smartphone is dumb. I mean it can't tell, hence the, "it".
Well enough of my trolling and onto more trolling.
How the hell are we supposed to know what is best for you? Are we you? Do we know you? Do I even have the hintest idea of you? No, so stop with these ridiculous questions. It's like asking me "what do i like about you?" Heck I don't even know you.
And now to the end of my trolling. This is to prevent you from asking more stupid questions like this.
In terms of customizing, android and winmo are prolly the best you can get.
If you can't even go around and search up a guide, you don't deserve to customize your device with your poor enthusiasm, which will prolly end with you bricking your device since you can't even go out and read.
No hard feelings, I say this to stress the need to read.

[Q] Best ROM so far?

I have rooted my HD2 acouple of times now I just want your opinnion on what is the best ROM that has worked for you. Also the first time I rooted it I got a 4g or H signal, so please let me know if that ROM will be 4g or H.
Thank you.
I've been using this rom for many awhile now...no problems!

What's the best car in the world?
Whats the best movie in the world?
And best of all, .. whats the "best" color in the world?
Answer: NONE because its subjective, What is "best" for you is not necessarily "best" for me. Please stop asking silly questions. If this is your kind of topic go read one of the other eleventy million topics by people who have asked this question.
Btw, you havent "rooted" your HD2, You have simply installed a different rom. The roms already come with root access.
Like the other poster said, the best ROM will be based on what you want. I have seen people on this forum rave about their ROM but unfortunately wouldn't work on my phone. I have my Froyo and Gingerbread favorites that work really well on my phone but may or may not work for you. By the way, our HD2 phones do not support 4G but H that you see on your phone which is equivalent to 3.5G.
as mentioned above, what works for one user may not necessarily work for you. i was previously using mdj's froyo rom. i just recently started using americandroid and it works fantastic for me. so what's the best rom around? i reckon you should try out the roms and from there you can decide which one suits you best. cheers
I am sticking with official Miui for now

I think this is a VERY valid question! The Android development for HD2 is really fascinating and all developers work is very very productive! So a BIG thanks to all the developers here!!!
Unfortunately this productivity has so many threads that it is almost impossible to follow all and the streams inside are definitely confusing! Nobody can follow them all or foresee the impact of a installation of a single ROM compared to an other ROM! Installing many ROMs and trying them takes ages and when you're through, almost each version has new major or minor version developments and could start from the beginning again!
So if you ask me: We in the forum should take such request serious because they show orientation is hard here! And we really should share experiences with ROMs exactly here since this is a sticky.
My opinion on the best ROM: You first have to decide whether you
a) need operational business strength Sync: If so you should go for a Sense ROM. You Sync with HTC Sync and it is great. I like LeoRCMix Rom is here best.
If you like speed : use 1.6 - if you like 3D effect but accept it to be a little bit slower - use 1.9
But: So far all Sense-like ROMs have issues with graphical errors (glitches) - they show horizontal black lines ...
b) you need/like full android reaction speed: CyanogenMod or CoreDroid are great. But you have to sync outlook with MyPhoneExplorer which causes sometimes problems!
c) you want speed and Sense-like GUI (but need no HTC Sync): Then use a MIUI ROM - i have no experience here ...
Cheers!

Ask any of the experienced developers and people here and they will you the same thing.. TRY IT OUT YOUR SELF!
Simple as that. Roms that run smooth for me or someone else might not run smooth for you.
1.7.1 JW MIUI is the best
I vote for cmylxgo's Stock DHD 1.1.18

Also WE DO share, There is a billion of these topics already we dont need to have a new one every day, just go read teh others instead of making your own and getting same answers, All it does is piss people off as it clogs up the forum.
The only reason why these topics get created is because the posters are too lazy to spend some time researching, trying or simply reading. Also if they really wanted to discuss a topic like this they could just go and read one of the other ones that discuss this EXACT subject instead of creating a clone and making browsing such a annoyance for those who actually go and read.
As I have looked through this thread I have noticed that everyone has had there own preference on Roms. I personally am a fan of sense 3.0 Roms even though they are buggy. My current Rom is AD Kingdom Sense 3.0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112810
HyperDroid CM7 2.1 everything works flawlessly
instead of wasting your time explaining on each thread that gets made "BEST ROM" ignore the thread as they will never stop asking the same questions, yes you lot are correct with the "WHAT WORKS FOR ME, MAY NOT FOR YOU" but don't use get tired of messaging them the same answers, just ignore the thread and let them enjoy telling each other what rom is best. NO HARM DONE
For me BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA GINGER 2.3.4 CM7 Sense.s is the ROM I've been using for sevral weeks. Runs really smooth and very very fast without any bugs!!!

HD2 Lossing the Great Developers

Hi All this is for all of us and our wonder full HD2

With full respect to all the past developer's I had given name of only very recent Developers please don't misunderstand My post Thanks
You are 100% rigt.

Dunno about Dorimanx but Xylo is definitely still active on the HD2 forums, so I don't know what you're on about there. Yes, development for the HD2 is decreasing but it's because the phone's three years old, not because of the community. I'm not quite sure but I reckon you won't be able to find any other phone which is this old and still has this much activity. Even so, the HD2 probably has another half a year of life at the most before development completely ceases, so we may as well enjoy it whilst it lasts and face the truth that sooner or later this phone will die.
+1 as well dorimanx is in my opinion the best dev on here no disrespect to other devs but he is hands above the others in relatiin to his kernel work with zram and swap and the frequency with which he used to update his rom us unsurpassed making my hd2 faster than then my friends stock sensation. we all miss him here his dev status in my opinion and the opunion of others should never have been revoked. i was told by a moderator that they answer questions within 24hours but am still awaiting answers to questions in my thread reinstatement of developer status which i posted for dori to be given his dev status back in questions and answers.
so hail the MAESTRO DORIMANX and please return we need you. if u are nit going to return please open your rom and kernel in some other forum and we will leave xda and follow you once again.
I believe that all the developers are worthy of respect. all have made the development of hd2 possible, every one for own characteristics and knowledge.
perhaps they are of part but dorimanx for me it is the number one for when it concerns the innovations brought on our telephone, I speak of the data2ext, of the swap, of the zram. Is Tytung one of fathers founders of the rom android on hd2, which rom android has not had one kernel of his? I believe anybody (the dorimanx has not perhaps had never it).
I believe to speak for the good of everybody, because they don't put on all together with to work for a rom android that perhaps that official are even able of eguagliare.
you think only to imagining xylo + tytung + rick_1995 + dormanx, and many I have forgotten of it, that work for a rom that could remain for a long time perhaps on our telephones.
you excuse for the English
Isn't this the same thing people posted about a few months ago

i disagree tbh it still as a 4" screen thats the main reason its still up there ,back in the day apple said there screen was big enough now the min screen is what the hd2 has got so id say long as the devs still want to they will as it still outsrtips a lot off phones out there on spec ,off topic but shame the devs never got in to the hd7
I'm delighted to have found this website! I got my HD2 and at first I quite liked the W6.5 on it, slowly getting used to it and them BAM! I can't use the Windows Marketplace, that was the only/final straw for me, what the hell is the point in having a marketplace on the phone when you can't even use it! I started looking into getting android on it and managed to stumble across this site and thanks to the helpful guides on how to flash my phone I've managed to get it how I like it! Keep up the good work guys as I am here for a while now, can't see me getting rid of my HD2 for a long time and will always be checking here for updates!
you want developers? spare hd2's for new ones(not noobs, ones without hd2, i mean).
simple.
many thanks for all their great works
I'm very happy Tytung is making HD2 roms again. Thanks to him, my HD2 now runs ICS perfectly. He released his last ROM yesterday, his previous ROM last week. He always was my favorite developer.
We salute you, Tytung!

can u suggest me a android rom for my htc leo:hd2

Hello, I m using htc leo:hd2, and its now converted to android, but the problem is about phone is showing my phone is htc bravo android v.2.2.1. Please guide me to find a suitable ROM for my phone... and how can i get it?
There is a Android HD2 NAND development section you know.
try LOOKING there

I think by now, we are tired of seeing the exact same thread pop up over and over again.. A simple google search of "best android rom" would result in a plethora of hits that would have solved your problem faster than making a new, but redundant thread.. One size does not fit all, and you will have to try out various roms before you find one that you like..
Thanks a lot

This one has been really good for me.
look for one of the miui roms
Welcome to forums. I'll give you a few brief tips on what I've learned over the last six months about android, hd2, and android.
With a typical nand install, the bootable system is installed on your internal nand, irrespective of your sd-card being present. Some may relate to the following comparison to a microsoft windows based system: your nand is like your internal hard drive "master" that contains your "C:" drive.
Your system folder on your nand has files specific to your device as required for it to boot and run properly. To access the market (google play) as well as have various hardware functionality, there is a file "build.prop" that is a small file with a text list of various descriptors. Being that the hd2 was not shipped with android, some of these descriptors name other devices as opposed to the actual device. In this case the "leo" or hd2 is using a ported version of android from a "bravo" or desire HD. So your system isn't malfunctioning describing another device name, rather, it could be looked at as "masquerading" as another device. I'm certain that is a severe dumbing-down of the technical details, but it's been helpful for some to look at it that way.
As for xda, I hope you spend an enormous time reading and not posting, as I have done all year. I have not posted at all and have literally read damn near every single post in the hd2 section and many more useful posts in other sections. After over six months and countless hours experimenting/flashing/customizing/etc on my own I am beginning to post now, attempting to contribute a bit in the forums that aren't still restricted for me because I feel comfortable enough to begin working towards contributing my input in the developer forums.
Most forums online have a similar attitude towards the plethora of posts like this, which bluntly request a quick answer for what is best determined through spending time reading and researching.
Hopefully you read the above and didn't skip to the end here where I wholeheartedly recommend the xylograph paranoid android ics rom. Cheers, and best of luck getting this amazing phone to fight well.
Amen to that. Nonetheless for starters go soft on your first rom get the CM7 of tyween. It's light and works well. But it's your choice. Indeed, look at me, just joined yesterday spent also almost six months reading the posts and relevant dev threads. Why am I posting, need it now to be able to complete my ten......
I can say for myself only. By my opinion, AOKP has best combination of settings and tweaks which really make life easier. Battery life and speed of this rom are very very good. But unfortunately this rom was not very stable for me, I experienced hot reboots regularly.
So I switched back to NexusHD2. It has comparable battery life and speed, but less tweaking possibilities. Stability of this rom has always been out of question for me. It is solid rock.
TyphooN CyanogenMod ROM was my first rom on HD2 and I have only positive impressions of it. Switched to ICS just because this phone let me do that. Prefer newer versions when possible.
