[Q] SMS and missed calls notification in dock apps - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Hi there. I am coming from Infuse, and in the dock apps (SMS and Dialer) I used to see the number of missed calls, and sms, so I knew I have to check them. On S4, no matter what launcher I use (GO, Apex, stock) I cannot get the same notification. Is it related to the the 4.2.2, or I am doing something wrong?
Thanks

Need Missed Call widget

Hello! I download the new home ADW and i dissable the notification bar, and now i would like to have widget on my home screen which show me the missed calls, or some notification like when i receive the sms , it is number on the sms widget 1 2 etd.
I need Help finding this widget, if not, i will have to put ugly notification bar back ?
You could try SMS Popup for sms and Missed Call (led or sound notification only) for calls.
Now i see that also when i get messeges, dont show me the number on the messeges, so i cannot see if i get sms :S
Hope to fix this in next version.
If you only want to see your last call/missed call/unread text message, etc, give “Last Call Widget” (on Market) a try.
for 2.x there is adw notifier
or try launcher pro inbuilt notifications
for 1.6 may be some app

[Q] Number notification on icons ?

HI i justed returned a iphone to get driod x. i was wondering if there was a way to get number notification on the message icon on the main screen. lets say it had 2 messages , it would have a little number 2 next to the icon.
I believe Handcent does this.
I have these on my xdandroid (froyo) tp2 with launcherpro, from homescreen press menu, den preferences and dock settings. Then check the boxes under 'dock notifications' heading which enable new email/sms and missd call notifications.
thank you handcent does do it. do u know any app that would do it for email and voicemail.
AnderWebs released an app today called ADWNotifier that does exactly what you're asking for. You have to be using ADWLauncher, and it only supports SMS, Gmail, and Missed Calls at the moment, but more development is planned!

sms notification Apps

Looking for a SMS message notification App for my Telus Samsung Fascinate (SGH-T959D) phone.
Currently, the phone gives only one small sound.
I'm not sure about audio, but for visual you can user Launcher Pro. In settings you can check unread sms count and it will show you the number of unread messages. It allows you to do it for missed calls & gmail messages as well.
Go sms
Sent from my CM7 Monster Vibrant.
noled app, great app

[Q] touchwiz sms hangouts status indicator

So as you all are aware the stock touchwiz SMS app has the online notification indicator for SMS messaging. Since we are all getting forced slowly but surely over to hangouts and this status indicator is deeply tied into g-talk is there any way to keep this once we are al forced onto hangouts. With the online/offline indicator showing up in hangouts now I would like to switch over from talk but this one feature I have grown to love must work.
Is there any possibility or workaround to this? It works if you still have take and all others have hangouts but once you upgrade that functionality is lost
Please help or direct me to he right place
Thanks

Best Texting App?

I've come to realize that my default Messaging App on my Samsung Galaxy S4 seems to be causing a lot of lags lately. (That or my keyboard).
I've tested out a few Messaging Apps (Go Pro, Texter, Google Messenger, etc) but I find they're not as good as the default S4 Messenger.
Tried Texter, which is great! But when you get a text, it shows up in your notifications, but when you swipe the notification to clear the notification bar, it counts the swipe as a read message (wtf??).
Also, unlike the default messenger, it doesn't have an unread messages on the icon. So you actually have to open the app the see if you have any unread messages.
Any fixes or suggestions for better messaging apps? Or a way to update the current default app?
It would probably be easier if you'd enumerate some features you'd want said app to have.
Those unread badges are a feature of the launcher, not the texting app. Or rather, I myself have not seen any messaging app with that feature included.
As to why it doesn't work with other apps, it's probably because the default launcher only supports the default app.
In other words, you need another launcher to have those on other apps, but most launchers offer this as a premium feature only.
Also, I believe that, for some apps, it matters which way you swipe away the notification.
e.g., Swipe right - mark as read; Swipe left - just clear it.
