Hi
When I use pixel tester app change to black screen it is not pure black on the very lowest brightness it is a little pink and I mean a little not sure if it is my eyes tbh. This is the i905 is it expected for a almoed screen never had on before..
The S3 is a very light black in comparison which is sort of white

You either have the reddish black (only visible in near darkness) or the smear problem. I got mine swapped, and now I'm stuck with the smearing problem.......
My firmware is xuamdf

You can fix the smearing problem temporally

My screen has a tarnish yellow tint that is very visible when looking at Web pages but I can only really see the tint when I look straight on at the phone. Is there a way to fix that and to fix the ugly black blotches in the dark?

If very easy to see yellow tint, go to Samsung service center. About blotch in the dark, that's normal

This is an international phone that is have in USA so if there is a way to fix it I would rather not send it in.

So, nothing wrong here, if you can use it normally.

Oh it's definitely usable I'm just picky about that kind of stuff but I assume it's fixable bc some things look whiter so I'm assuming it's software

You mean change color when browsing? When browsing, go to menu button, setting and brightness. Try change from there.

Just the white looks a yellowish in general on the device not just on the browser but I'd like an explanation why I only notice the tint when looking straight on not from the side
I also have very slight banding of darker pixels when the screen is gray...grr more and more I look at screen more problems I see

Anyone else have issue with a little white light shines through on black image?
Like it's not properly sealed between the back light and lcd..

That's called backlight bleed. It's all over this forum.
Didn't know it was a widespread fault with the phone.
Thanks!

I don't know if my nexus is the only one that has this but my led is more noticeable on the bottom? You can see the circle and the dot in the middle which is the led

I can see mine too but only when the screen is completely clean and in bright light, don't worry its not a problem

I was trying to find mine with direct light and I couldn't really see it. The only time I've actually noticed it was today in direct sunlight and the right angle.
can't see mine right now
I'll try later with sun light and correct angle
never noticed!
yes its normal dont worry
I noticed that I not only get the weird pinkish tint with black backgrounds, but also yhat my S4 doesnt display blacks in videos properly. It looks really strange and blocky. Anyone else noticed this?

I have the same problem too, its really annoying while watching movies or youtube.
Can any body confirm that too?
I'm thinking about replacing the handset.
I dont think the handset is issues, but rather the software. Do you also have the pink tint on black?

I think this isnt the same as the smearing problem

I still have this issue. I noticed this on youtube as well and its quite irritating. What to do? Im sure my display isnt defect because everything else is fine. Im wondering if it has to do with the pink tint bug.

If you mean pixelated blocks in the dark areas of video you can alleviate it somewhat by experimenting with colour modes and brightness settings combinations. Overall it is because your screen is too good and reveals the compression video artefacts present in video files more than an LCD does. It's not your phone, it's the file you are watching.

I don't notice this on my computer monitor even though it's the same res..
It's not just blocky.. it shows black pitch black (if things are supposed to be black) around the rest of the video so it looks really weird.
i noticed that in the s4(mine at least) the lights on the capactive buttons(menu, back) seem kind of dim
on my s3 they are superbright compared to those on my s4, i dont know if this is a hardware issue or if the black s4 has dimmer lights by default

This is how all black S4's are. The white ones are much much brighter. Not sure why this is but it is this way for everyone I've seen.
