So my soft buttons have left some burn in on my screen. My idea was to take a pic of that area, invert it, make the top a solid color, and let it set for a while to even out the burn.
However, I cannot seem to find a way to just display a picture pixel for pixel full screen. Any ideas?

This is a terrible idea lol. You want to destroy a perfectly good screen so it'll match during the 1% of the time you're watching a video in full screen.
Why would this destroy the screen? It would be no pixel decay more than using it for a few hours.

Just a test
1. Download deadpixel app
2. Set screen brightness to manual full.
3. Go In deadpixel app to black screen

Mother of GOD ! there are other icon imprints as well if I look closely !!
Hope it doesn't get darker than this ...
You won't find away around it unfortunately.
These screens are both fantastic and both sh*t at the same time. It's good technology but it isn't perfected. My original SGS went terrible. After nearly 2 years on it I could see perfectly the alarm icon and almost every icon I had on my home screen on light and dark backgrounds - It's a nice screen but it will only get worse within time.
As others have said only real solution is to keep altering your backgrounds and home screens but tbh I wouldn't bother, you'll still get burn from the time and other icons in the status bar.
Until Samsung sort them out and improve how they work it's just the way it's going to be
Whoa!! That is scary!
I have heard that there is no solution for a burn-in..? Thanks for the advice though. I'll keep changing the layout constantly.
Today I noticed that there is a lighted grid within the display which can only be seen when in sunlight, even when phone is sleeping (screen off) is this normal, has anyone else seen it?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
This is indeed normal: I have it and others too. I don't know the exact cause, but I thought it had to do with the "touch layer" which is placed in the glass.
It's just weird that it is visible when screen is off

The capacative layer needs metal to know where your finger is. Metal reflects sunlight.
I saw someone ask this in a nexus circle on G+ and though maybe it was just his device but a few people posted also claiming the same so tried it myself and noticed it also.
If you put your phone on max brightness and go to an app that leaves the logo on the screen like G+ in the upper left hand corner, imagine FB or whatever else will work the same, and stay there for about 2 minutes then switch to a dark screen(clock) the image is still visible in the corner. It stays there for a few minutes too, then its gone. Is this normal of IPS displays or even LCD for that matter? I mean its very circumstantial, you would have to at max bright and on that type of app for a long time and then to a dark screen to ever notice it but if you went longer under them conditions could it potentially burn in permanently?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
This happens on my tablet (TFT LCD), but not on my Nexus 4. It shouldn't cause burn in, LCDs don't burn in

Hi there ! The one asking the question on G+ was me !
I'll post a video on youtube and open a poll about it here !
P.S. it seems that many people do suffer from the problem (cf. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2228013&page=4) Therefore I won't be making the video (I think)...
It happens to me all the time. Especially noticeable at night when using it in bed so it doesn't even have to be at maximum brightness.

I'm currently on my second N3 (the first one had vertical lines in photos) and looks like this one has a bad display. When using Tapatalk with the dark theme, the bottom left corner/edge of the display is brighter than the rest. When testing with Screen Adjuster, the difference is very noticeable. The issue can be seen even with just Thumb Keyboard with WP7 theme.
Has anyone else noticed this kind of problem?
Return it and buy from another store. Seems like these guys are selling you lemons.

The two phones are from different stores, I'm still waiting for a replacement for the first one.
Mine upper side screen seems brighter than below screen.. but this condition only happen when i use xda app set to dark theme..i thought the xda app the one that problem..not the phone...

Check it with the stock messaging app, it should have a uniform brightness. Mine is glowing on the left edge and especially on the bottom left corner.

Should this happen again, The vertical lines are solved by clearing cache/data in the camera app

The problem can not be seen in a screenshot. And the camera lines disappeared after a hard reset but came back soon after.

You may notice that the black screen when you open the settings. Not symmetric Colors.
There is a difference in the backlight. Increase in the left of the screen.
AMOLED has no backlight! the issue is due to the production process (basically: the more of the center of the wafer your particular screen has been cut out, the more uniform it will be)!

Dynamic? Hideous more like, my eyes can't stand any of Sammys over saturated pre presets, Movie is closest to normality I can find personally.

If you want to get rid of display brightness issues, just switch to Dynamic, as the 'blacks' in Settings would be even blacker, to the point where it doesn't really light up as it uses the OLED technique of showing true black.
