Volume Buttons for Camera Zoom In & Out

Hey Guys,
what about using the Volume Up and Down Keys for using the Zoom while Camera is open? Is it possible?
When u press the Volume Buttons while Cam is open they have no function, in my opinion it must be possible to
use them as Zoom in or Out Buttons, what do you mean?
Maybe possible with: AEBPlus from HERE
There is only one Problem, u can only advice a button if a button is responsible for that and with the HD it'S only possible to zoom with Touch, maybe somebody knows which entrys have to be chnaged for using that

Can we use a hardware button for camera?

Hi guys,
so, do you know of any trick or mod or app to do that?
I mean when taking a picture to use a hardware button?
Thanks.
There was an app for this on WinMo, you could use the volume buttons to take a photo instead.
I'd love to see this for Android (would it be phone specific? Not universal? If its even possible)

Third party camera apps allow you to assign a hardware button (RetroCamera lets you use either vol-up or vol-down). But I haven't seen the ability to have the built-in camera app assign a hardware shutter release.
I will try that one see how it works.

[Q] Is there a way to remap the camera button?

Is there a way to remap the camera button?
I'm using Launcher Pro and have the notification bar hidden. Does any know if it is possible to remap the camera button on the side to show notifications?
That would be useful. I also hope there's a way to remap the volume buttons as music controls.

How about this: long click on your app drawer icon and when options show up, click "swipe gesture" , then one of the options should be "display notification" or some thing of that sort. Then whenever u need to display notification, just swipe the app launcher icon upwards and voila

I use the TASKER app to set my camera button to function differently. In my case, I use it to open a menu of different camera apps when I depress the button.

Key mapping alternate power button

Curious as to whether anyone has attempted to remap one of the 4 buttons on the Shift as an alternate to the power button on the top of the phone.
Personally I can live w/o the "search" button, and if it's remapped to act as a second power on/on toggle, that'd.....be.....awesome.
I think the power button has to be a physical non-capacitive button. The 4 bottom buttons are just part of the screen and so will not respond to a touch if the screen is off.

Good point, I didn't even think of that. You're right.
Thanks!
Now if someone could get it to turn on after you did a double tap on the volume up button or something. That would be bad-ass.

This is a GREAT idea.
I'd like it if while in the camera app the volume keys worked as camera buttons.

I know what you mean, like some sort of 'profile' based key mappings.

Downloaded and re-mapped the Volume Down button to work as an alternate Power button (since i just use toggle widgets and settings for volume anyway), and remapped Power button to open Camera. Great app!

question about the camera

Is there any apps/hacks that can allow the user to use the volume button (or any hardkeys) as the camer shutter? Thanks

Not sure for the stock camera but if you don't mind using another camera app Vignette (which I much prefer to the stock camera) lets you use the volume button or the search button for the shutter. Sure other similar apps would do the same.

i was just about to request this myself lol (slightly ios5 inspired, not gonna lie lol).
i hate how hard it is it correctly target the shutter button on the touchscreen while not looking. would be handy to have one of the volumes to focus and one to shoot!
