Forgive me for asking this.............
I am getting a Nexus 4 on Thursday from my work, but am running s sim free Motorola Defy at the moment.
I would like to put my 3 sim into the Nexus 4 and the Virgin sim into the Defy.
Basically is the Nexus 4 sim free? (my 3 sim is already a micro-sim)
Thanks for not flaming for asking a question.

Yes. Pop the sim in and you're good to go!

Cheers mate. Happy days!!!

X+ AT&T SIM in a T-Mobile Nexus 4

I have to replace my AT&T One X+ today and am looking to get a Nexus 4 on my way home from T-Mobile, will my SIM just plug in and work? Or will I have to do anything else?
It most likely will but you may have to enter T-Mobile's APN in settings if it doesn't show up.
If your Sim is a standard size SIM then you will h ave to cut it down to a MICRO sim to fit into the Nexus 4. if its already a micro sim then you wont have a problem other than just using the tmobile APN settings.
NO. T-Mobile Nexus 4's are NOT factory unlocked. You have to buy it from Google if you're an AT&T user, and it does take micro SIMs.
Edit - OOPS. Sorry all.

I do not believe that to be a true statement.

What do you mean by unlock?
Bootloader?
google: "fastboot oem unlock"
But if I got your description right, you mean something like a SIM/Network lock?
Nexus don't have such BS.

You don't need to root an Android phone to do a SIM unlock - and the Nexus 4 isn't even locked in the first place. If you bought it from a carrier, the sales rep may have mistakenly told you otherwise - just ignore him.
You don't have to do anything with your phone. Put in your American SIM and it'll work straight away. You can even try it now - prepaid US SIMs are able to roam on Canadian networks (you won't be charged as long as you don't actually call/text/use data). If you pop in your US sim and it shows a signal and a connection to some network (probably Rogers) then you'll know it works.

I'm guessing he did mean a network lock since he's talking about traveling to the states. Nexus phones aren't locked to a carrier, so you can exchange the SIM for one provided by a US carrier as much as you want. Buy a micro SIM when you get to the states and you'll be good to go.

wow,
That is wonderful. What is why I can not find any information on how to unlock nexus 4.
I bought my phone from fido, they said that I have to buy US roaming data (50$ for 40MB).
Do you have any suggestion for cheap pre-paid micoSIM company in US that I can buy find easily in florida?
Are you sure that Nexus 4 just work like that with different carrier without unlock. It seem to be too good to be true. And usually it is.
Thank you very much for all your expertise.
T-Mobile ? 100min talk , unlimited text & 5gb data. $30

[Q] Nexus 7 SIM Unlock

I would like to buy a nexus 7 tablet with cellular data. I saw on google play device page there is a version for AT&T. I live in a different country. Device from at&t is compatible with my country network. I bought a Motorola Atrix 4G throught amazon.
If i buy from Google Play would the device be network locked to at&t? Should i buy from other place?
It is not a version specifically for AT&T. It is an unlocked GSM device. You can use it as long as you have a data plan for tablets or something similar.

Confirm. If you buy from Google Play it will not be locked to AT&T.
It's not sim locked, it just comes with a AT&T sim card, same goes to the T-Mobile version.
Beamed from my Maguro.

I can confirm this (least with a Nexus 4). The only difference between for example a Nexus 4 purchased from google directly and from T-Mobile is the higher price + Sim card, otherwise you can just pop in a new GSM sim card and it'll work. The same should be true of the Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 with 3G capabilities. (Google as I recall won't deal with carriers that wish to sim-lock their devices).
so basically there is no such thing as a locked nexus 7 2 gen + 4g (2013) ?
I'm looking for a nexus 7 2 gen 32gb + 4g and the seller stated that it's locked on t-mobile

I'm not sure about the nexus 7 but Google will allow simlocks what they will not allow carriers to do is lock the bootloader. The nexus range are first and foremost a developer range simlocks don't interfere with that but locked bootloader do.

I don't want to start a new thread for an old topic, so I'm recycling this one with the same basic question.
I have a chance to get a Nexus 7 2013 with LTE, but the seller claims that it is "locked to T-Mobile" and comes packaged with a T-Mo SIM.
I never thought these Nexus 7s were locked to any carrier. Has anyone here confirmed that these will work on other carriers, before I take the leap?
Have a Nexus 7 2nd gen, won't work with T-Mobile
I bought a used 2nd gen Nexus 7 which was sold as being unlocked, but it wouldn't sign in to T-Mobile's network. Their tech called support at ASUS who replied that the Nexus 7 can be locked by a particular carrier when it joins their network.
I did two full factory resets to no avail. My SIM works in my Chromebook but not in my tablet.

Nexus 4 does not read SIM

So I just got a nexus 4 from a cousin in the US that brought it to Mexico for me, I am trying to use my microSIM from my note2 but it will not read it, my carrier here is Telcel and if I got to movile networks and search for network operators it does find mine (Telcel) but it will not read the SIM, any ideas what it could be?

I think its not fitting properly in the sim tray.
remove it and fit it properly in the tray or else I doubt you need to order another micro sim from Telcel.

I will go to telcel tomorrow, thanks.
I bought a microsim from telcel and it did not work, the phone does not recognize it, the phones from Google come sim unlocked right?

Sprint Activation?

Hello, just wondering how hard is to activate an N6P in Sprint and also how good has been working just thinking on get one of this phones. thanks in advance.
Activation went without any issue. Service is good. Only drawback is that wifi calling is not available.
I upgraded from a M8 and had to get a new Sim chip. Once I tracked one down at a sprint store it was pretty easy.
Quick and easy activation. A quick note that the required sim for Nexus 6p is not carried in all Sprint stores, at least not my local one because it's the size of a closet compared to the one I was refered to that had the sim. Call quality and data speeds are great in my area. Hope you are able to activate yours soon!
Easy as ****. Walked in, told them what was up, they went in the back and got a sim card. Took less than 20 minutes
thanks guys, I have the Moto X pure edition, can be the same sim card or is different?
Just get a new sim to be safe. It's free.
