I use it daily for transfering files i guess iam too lazy to get a cable hhhh
Btw it acts better with chrome browser just so you know it even has folders upload you don't need to reselect each file by itself.

Nobody has seen this yet? Finally available.

I check faithfully everyday. Downloading it now OTA. Came here to report it but gokartracer5 is already on top of the update. :victory: It better be JB. :fingers-crossed:
Updated it last night, still trying to find the right file to root with.
UPDATE: I'm rooted! Good to go!
Someone posted the root method in the development thread. It works.

I just wish there was a reliable CWM recovery touch for this variant.
Also, maybe it's just me, but I have to say that, for all of the cries from people for JB, I've really not noticed much of a difference since the update.
Yeah, it has to be the smallest changelog I have ever seen.

It isn't as though I had any problems with the tablet before, except for some occasional lag, but, except for the icons and some minor cosmetic changes, I haven't noticed anything to distinguish it from ICS.
Of course, I'm grateful that they're at least updating it. Especially since there would be so many people crying if they didn't.
Maybe I'm too oblivious to notice the changes.

Google Now
AT&T AllAccess Widget
Smart Stay

Wow. Nothing there that I use or couldn't live without. Still, that'll keep the zealots quiet for at least a while, LOL!

Wasn't this release supposed to include Project Butter?
I just noticed something that has been changed that I don't like: in the settings from the taskbar you used to be able to turn mobile data on and off, and now that button is gone and I can't figure out how to get it back.

Technically doesn't airplane mode do just about the same thing on this tablet? Unless you have found a use for the phone signal.

The way I see it, the mobile data radio button was most handy so that I could make sure I was not using my data plan when WiFi was on. I preferred having this feature, and I have noticed a difference in the past when I thought I was using WiFi only to learn I wasn't. Maybe you don't think it was useful, but I certainly found it to be very much so. Now I have to drill down into the settings to manually turn off mobile data instead, which is a pain.
Besides, airplane mode usually shuts off Bluetooth, GPS, mobile data, and WiFi, or at least it has on nearly every device I've ever owned. In other words, from a practical standpoint: baby with the bathwater.

I guess you are right. Airplane mode does shut off way too much. How about adding a data toggle from the Play Store?

Shouldn't have to, that button was a perfect solution, I wish I knew why it was removed, there really was no need for it to go.
Oh well.

Works for me but only when I am in bright light and have the tab perpendicular to my face for it to pick up my eyes.

It's been working for me just fine, no matter what angle I have the tablet at, and I wear glasses.

Any chance someone with this Rom and Root could extract and post the AllAccess APK?
Should be in /system/app/
I highly recommend a hard reset after updating to 4.1.
I didn't the first time and it was super laggy and buggy. After formating, it's smooth now.
What wifi hotspot app do you use for your Galaxy S4?
Check out my thread from the other day. I'm not sure if there is an actual app amymore...I use to use barnicle but can seem to find it. Try the es file explore method, it works...as long as you're rooted.

Looking around
I come from HTC to a great Samsung G 4 and HTC was hard at times, but it taught me a lot about android. Don't know if anyone thought of this and i think i actually found what is being used.. Samsung Kies is able to restore factory firmware onto your SG4 by using the computer as a terminal, sorta like an htc ruu would do.. even downloads the info/firmware to your computer (including mf3) from what I've readhttp://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SGH-I337ZKAATT
Wonder if thats how it is because you don't need to be a rocket scientist to work at best buy....
I love my motox but one of the features I miss about my S3/Note2 was the gallery feature where you could create folders and move pics around within the gallery app. It was so convenient!
Sent from my XT1058 using xda app-developers app
check out a different gallery app like quick pic!
Or a file manager like ES File Explorer
Parker, I know but I don't like downloading apps for existing functionally I find it redundant.
This should be functionality built into android
Solutions, I have been using a filer Explorer but it's cumbersome. Samsung's solution was so elegant

That's kind of the point of Android in general and Moto X in particular. It doesn't have all the extra crap that bloats the Samsung devices. If you want a feature, download an app. Simple.

All that bloat on touchwiz and others like it....is used by some, but just bloat to others. I much prefer adding the apps I want....versus having to debloat all the stuff I don't want. ?
Thats just me.

IMO, that type of functionality should be in the stock gallery app...
Let me add.....if you aren't rooted....bloat can be a nightmare. At least on a vanilla android system....there's very little to debloat, so not having root isn't as dire. ?

I would argue that if you want to create directories and move files around, a file manager is the tool of choice, just as it is on a pc. Putting that functionality into every app that accesses files is redundant and unnecessary.
Yea that's always been kind of weird that you can't do that. I recently started using Dropbox to save all my photos which is nice. You can create folders on there to keep them organized! Also, you'll get extra space (500Mb) to store photos once you activate the auto-upload thing.
The WORST thing is picture messages from iPhone users. They all come to me in the STUPID slideshow format that sucks. You can't even zoom in on the pictures and I've noticed in particular with the Moto X that the play/pause buttons disappear. So now I have to wait the 15-20 seconds for the next slide to look at the pic. Does anyone know how to get rid of this? Other than the obvious of installing a different SMS/MMS app or using Hangouts? I prefer the stock application and this is the only gripe I have with it.

problem is, your thinking like a software engineer, not an end user I want to be able to move my pictures around from where I look at them, not have to go into some other app, do it there and then go back and check it all out from the gallery app.

What I do is long press on those messages and say Save Attachments. That way they just go to your downloads folder and you can view them at full size and at your leisure.

I am thinking like a computer user, who has used Finder (Mac), Explorer (Win), and File Browser (Linux) to manipulate files, and prefer one interface for it.
For me, the most compelling reason for Android IS user access to the file system. If you want all file management from within the apps that access those files, you're a prime candidate for iOS.
Not trying to be snarky about this, I simply prefer to use file management tools for file management, rather than seeing numerous interfaces from numerous apps, and the additional overhead they require.
This app helps, still not as elegant as the touchwiz version but it's OK

I was going to get the gs5 today but driving home from a place I didn't know saying "OK Google, navigate me home." Made me think twice about getting it. I use these features way too often to not have it on a device anymore. Sure I could of looked it up but that takes me waking and unlocking the phone then putting the address in, which I know it seems that I'm being lazy but these features help out a lot!

It may be built into Android in the future if users want it, but for the most part, core Android apps provide basic functionality. Manufacturers build on AOSP with their own software tweaks or go closed source with a specific software suite (most of Samsung's S-apps are redundant when Google offers the same apps).
This is kind of analogous to editing with MS Paint or Adobe Photoshop. You can do it in both, but one obviously has more features.

On the GS5, you'd just go into Google Now and say the same thing. It's definitely more convenient with Touchless Control though.

There's nothing about the S5 (although the paying with PayPal with your fingerprint is handy) that is appealing enough to make me leave my motox. I've said, I'll never own another phone that doesn't have touchless control.

Hey all I am thinking it is probably worth using an Antivirus program. I have stayed away up and to this point because I am rooted and running xposed framework so I thought it may interfere. Wanted to get some thoughts from the community. Thanks in advance.

I have malwarebytes installed, but I only use it when I think I may have something malicious on the phone, otherwise I have the app not running.
I use Advast. I have it on my computer and phone. I don't remember it saying it has caught stuff on my phone but I usually don't download anything sketchy either. It has a find your phone thing with it. I have had really good experiences with Advast and it doesn't seem to effect my battery all that much either. I still get great battery life. I am not rooted though so I have no idea if it will interfere but I know it has a feature if you are rooted to make it so it can't be uninstalled however so I would assume you would be fine.
Like a few posts above, if I want to scan a possibly sketchy apk I will use malwarebytes. I do the same on my PC, since I do very little downloading, I don't want a large software hogging my CPU so I run scheduled scans now and then. If you want the peace of mind, go for it
It's fundamental Linux, and I don't load anything I don't get here, so I don't worry about it.
