Mhl cable. - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, since my tv is stupid (it's not one of those smart ones with wi fi) I was looking for another way of displaying the n4 screen on my tv. I was wondering if a simple mhl cable would do the trick? Or do I really need a special slim port adapter?
I found this one in my nearest store, but I am not sure if it will work.---> Unitek MHL Y-2702 microUSB / HDMI

Well, the search option in the mobile app sucks, thanks anyway.

I don't known if what I am trying to do is either not right or I don't know how to do it, I could not find a micro USB otg, so instead I bought a flash drive and a double female ended USB adapter and have my n7 cable on the other end to the tablet. Can this work or does it only work with a micro USB both adapter?

Usb otg, cables are easy to find.... Your solution won't work because there's nothing to trigger host mode

Mhl ports on google play

How much an MHL port costs?

What?
Nexus 4 does not use MHL. It uses slimport. It allows for displayport, hdmi and vga outputs.

Slimport and connectivity.

Hey guys, I do not own a Nexus 4 (yet), but before I buy I would like to throw out a scenario and see how realistic it is. I have researched the Slimport adapter and was wondering, could I connect a Nexus 4 to an HD TV (via Slimport adapter), connect a USB hub to the microUSB port on the adapter (via OTG cable), and connect USB sticks or controllers for games from the USB hub, and charge the phone wirelessly from the charging hub? Thanks in advance for everyone's insight.

I'm sorry guys, I know I ask much of your knowledge.

Well, did more research, looks like Nexus 4 doesn't have the 5v out that would be required to support USB.host its a hardware issue.

Screen output via audio/video cables?

Does anyone know if its possible to get the screen to mirror using audio/video cables (the red, yellow, and white cables)?
My cars head unit has these cables in the back. I'd imagine I'd need the USB/HDMI adaptor, but is there a way to convert HDMI to audio/video?

Pretty sure that will not work as I believe Samsung uses MHL. You would likely need the SlimPort adapter and something like one of these.
Hey thanks. That adaptor you sent, you think I'd be able to power it via a car charger?

uh huh usb

What cable should I buy to mirror my Nexus 4 to my MHL/HDMI enabled HDTV?

So I have a new Sony KDL-40R450A HDTV which has MHL/HDMI ports. What cable or (cable+adapter) should I buy to mirror my Nexus 4 to this particular HDTV?
P.S I'm really new to this smartphone mirroring to HDTV experience.
Thanks in advance.

The Nexus 4 uses Slimport to convert data to HDMI.
Analogix do one and can be found on Amazon.
What about the other manufacturers? I found some at eBay, r those as good as analogix?
I don't have any access to Amazon right now.
