Wrong location in Google maps. - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everybody!
So I got my Nexus 4 a few days ago and it's been a blast!!
I first accessed a wifi network at my friends place about 7 kms away from my house. Google maps successfully found my location and everything was fine. My location kept updating as I went from place to place. Everything was working perfectly and then I got home and my location changed to friends place again.
When I stand outside my house, my location is correct but the moment I get inside, it changes back to my friends place!! I did a few factory resets and nothing seems to fix this problem!!
Please help me out guys!!! Thanks!!!

Your not really suppose to use the GPS indoors anyway.
Google Maps is probably downloading the data which points to your friends house.
Try using this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cochibo.gpsstatus

First of all, I'm not using gps indoors.
Second, I tried that app but it's no use.
Everything is fine until I step inside my house!!!

Its happened to me after I moved. I think they base location off your routers ssid.
To fix it open maps and press on the blue arrow.
Then press the my location bubble that pops up.
Next select report incorrect location.
It took a few days but my location at my house updated properly.

Google New weather updates stopped working

Anybody else have a problem where Google Now stops showing weather updates? I've tried everything listed in threads in other forums on this problem, including turning Google Now on and off, turning weather on and off, changing weather settings, etc. Nothing seems to be working.
Not a huge deal, of course. Just bugs me...
I have same problem, went missing today

Me too on both phone and tablet.... must be server side?

Mine works.
Working fine here.

I don't have it either. It won't respond to weather either, it'll just show Google results. I'm running a euroskank kang of cm10.
Same here, my weather card in google now has completely gone. Same on my wifes galaxy S.

Yep, mine is back as well. I'm thinking this might be server side...

Mine started going mad yesterday too. First it started learning me thousands of miles away in Reston, US (looked like it was at some google offices) when I'm in Mexico, then weather card disappeared and won't come back.
Even google maps put me in Reston. GPS Test gave me an accurate location and sometimes when I turn wifi off Maps relocates me correctly but turning on wifi again screws it up.

I have the same problem, Galaxy Nexus 4.1.1. I tried connecting to various wifi networks, and no matter, when I have wifi turned on the "Google's Location Service" puts me in Reston. I live in Calgary, Canada, but it thinks I'm state-side. And Google Now shows me the weather for Reston, and gives me the USA/Canada currency exchange rate because it thinks I'm travelling.
Just noticed this today, and the only way to prevent it is to turn off wifi as far as I can tell. server-side problem as well?

GPS working good?

Hey guys. Really really love my new n7 its amazing.
Of course the moment I got it home I rooted it and installed a few roms! You just have to!
I'm currently on paranoid android 2.23 with no kernel change.
My issue is this: my GPS won't lock at all! Google maps with GPS enabled without wifi always returns location unavailable.
I'm almost 100% sure the nexus has GPS so what's the problem?
Anyone having this issue or any solutions?

I hope mine isn't defective!
Is wifi location turned off in your location settings?
Might try to reflsh cm10 maybe but pa uses same base...
Hmm... anyone using pa with GPS working?

I can second that, it runs perfectly. Try a clean install.
Try GPS Status from the market and go to tools and erase the location assistant data then download assistance. Also GPS Status also shows you if you are picking up satellites and just not getting a lock. If you get even one lock just be patient and you will get the other ones you need eventually.
Your first lock in awhile is going to take longer because the GPS logic assumes you have changed locations and does a cold start up.
Give it some help and go outside with at least a decent look at the sky keep it in one place.
I haven't had top do this in a long time but sometimes if I had toggled GPS from on to off I wouldn't get a lock but rebooting with GPS toggled on would fix it.
And a few times reflashing the same kernel would fix a flakey GPS

GPS status is pretty good app! Thank you for suggesting it.
GPS status showed 9 sat and 9 locks, but maps didn't work still.
I then did the reset and download and now maps locks me and shows location.
Thank you!
This might be a little off topic but what exactly does the assistant data do?

[Q] [q] strange battery life on the n4

Just got my new Nexus 3 days back.. and today was the first day using the phone not plugging it on and off thorough the day.
noticed something odd. I hadn't opened the maps app.. so it makes it even more strange.
any ideas?
Maps always runs itself. I believe this can be remedied by turning off location settings.

Which app is that by the way? And turn off location settings and latitude.

the even more curious part was that the app had run only for 34seconds!
not faced the problem today, hadn't changed any settings. guess it will remain a mystery until it happens again?
Someone was having a similar problem a few weeks back. Try going from maps to navigation and accepting the user agreements etc. Someone found that this solved the maps battery drain.

This was an issue on galaxy nexus when updating from 4.0 to 4.0.1 .all you had to do is to go to maps accept t&c and that's it.

please help, my gps stopped working

so, today, i needed to look up driving directions and my phone would not lock in. i thought it was kinda strange, so when i got home i did some research. attached are the gps test results. I know that it's the phone, because when i checked it on my nexus 10, it locks in right away. i tested both of them next to each other. i tried using the gmps status app to clear A-gps data and doing resets with the gps status apps, but it did not help. it's no driving me crazy since most people are happy with their gps in the nexus 4 and seem to be able to lock in within seconds. i've left maps on for minutes with no success. i've already checked both google settings in the accounts and location to be on.
i recently started charging my phone with the lg wireless orb. do you think that's the issue? how can i fix this? it's driving me crazy.
It seems to see the satellites, but can't lock in.
You've tried rebooting, right?

Kinda hoping to avoid that unless there's no other option. Don't really want to go through the hassle of setting everything up again

Location Settings

Hey everyone. I am hoping to get a bit of help here. Something is using location services constantly and I have no idea what. The notification icon does not go away for even a minute. Seems like this just happened over the last day or so. Is there anyway to see what is using location settings?
