Run backtrack in your Laptop/Desktop, backtrack for android is no that stable

It's possible, and as the other guy told you, you could try backtrack for Android. However, there's some limitation since Android devices (most of the time) have less powerful chipsets, without the needed or optimal capabilities, to crack a network... not to mention that, depending on the strength of the password, it could take twice or three times longer to crack than using a laptop.

how to run backtrack?

I want sense 3.0 on my EVO.

I currently read on engadget that HTC removes the hardware requirements for sense 3.0 so how can I get sense 3.0 on my EVO 4g running 2.3.3
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Well, that hasn't happened yet. The only way to get a newer version of sense is to flash a custom rom with it. Mikg 2.5 has a mix of 2.1 and 3.0. Its a good rom. Look in the dev section
We're comin from a pure power source.
Is that a gingerbread Rom
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
MikG is gingerbread. I'm pretty sure all the 2.1 + 3.0 and 3.0 ROMs are gingerbread.
Just curious, what hardware requirements issues are you running into with a stock 2.3.3 EVO?
None exactly I was just going by what engadget was quoting. I really do want a rooted gingerbread Rom.

Depends... what HBoot are you running? If 2.15 or 2.16, you are going to have to possibly do a virtual machine because Revolutionary only works on Windows and Linux.
I have no clue...wait 2.15 I remember from having to manually get my phone to gingerbread in the ffirst place

If you acceppted the ota, then you updated your hboot

I tried it and it failed for me. It was so slow I had to go back to stock. I tried setcpu and v6 and all kinds of memory saving apps and nothing worked.. what did you do to get it running clean and smooth as you said? I love sense 3.0 but can't deal with an almost unusable phone.

I was running it for a week. Its not that fast. Its somewhat laggy and a memory hog! But I am assuming the lag is due to the memory usage. If that is fixed its totally worth the rom! They have done a good job integrating it. Now just need to fix the amount of space it takes to be running!

Take a look at http://revolutionary.io/ It works on Windows and linux. If your running mac, you may be able to run the linux version. Check the forums. Or find someone to run it for you on a windows machine. This will unlock your boot loader. You will then be able to root your phone with the zip off there site.
Synergy Kingdom is a very good Sense 3.0 ROM. I've been using it for about two weeks and haven't had any issues with it at all. The battery life is decent, but I just got a 3500mah battery that, so far, has helped quite a bit. Overclocked to 1152MHz using InteractiveX on Lithid's Freedom kernel. Very nice.

Find a friend. There are enough windows PC's around that it shouldn't be hard.
If not, I suggest booting a live linux CD (or live USB linux distro) and rooting from there. Booting off a Live Linux boot cd is easy enough. Insert the cd in your macbook and hold alt during the bootup process.
Also, boot camp might be a good option as well. Its generally useful to have a Windows installation around.
dude, flash Shooter and done! you have 3.0 sense!!

Kinda a ROM is the OS with the UI packaged in it, each dev has tweaked the ROM for optimal performance and included extra features. Like synergy has sense 2.1 with 3.0 features. Still android 2.3.3 but with a different visual approach.

This forum is for the 'coming soon' new phone OS not running linux within android, if you want a thread to talk about that click my sig
1. This is wrong forum section, as user above wrote, this is upcoming mobile Ubuntu OS only forum.
2. Backtrack is linux distro based on Ubuntu. It's created for security experts, so if you don't know what to do with it I think you shouldn't have it, no offense. This is very powerful tool and it is made for people who know what they are doing.

Ubuntu Phone OS on N7000

Hey folks, I'm keen to start work porting the gnexus image for Ubuntu to the N7000 when it's released later this week. Is anyone else keen to join this effort?
While very familiar with the linux commandline, servers, desktop linux, and flashing my phone, I haven't compiled much code before and am unsure where to start. I would appreciate any advice you might have.
Looking forward to getting this os running on our original notes.

Deleted sorry wrong post.
I would love to see some support here. Push!
I'm presuming you're going to need to build an unbuntu compatible kernel for the note, mobile devices don't tend to work in the same way as desktops, so the pretty much universal kernel model used on the desktops don't work too well here. (size being the major consideration).
Not really looked into what they are doing, I'm presuming they will release source under gpl, so at least you will be able to diff a standard gnex build and the ubuntu. You can then use that as a basis to rebuild for the note.
"Porting" an image if that's all they release is going to end up quite messy.
EDIT according to techradar they will release source http://www.techradar.com/news/softw...galaxy-nexus-nexus-4-coming-next-week-1131567
But doesn't it run on android kernel without any modifications?

You think every android phone runs on the same kernel? Think again.
It's always a possible that they will use an Android kernel for the gnexus or n4 builds, but it's unlikely, as Android has some features that don't play too nicely with a mainstream Linux build.
Not seen this yet, nor code for it, so can't say exactly what they are doing yet.

See what happens when it comes out then, but would seem from the information Canonical is presenting that they are using standard android kernels. Will be interesting to see.

Yes, but what he say is that Ubuntu runs from Android Kernel. The CyanogenMod 10.1 kernel. And as we have CM 10.1 on note, the kernel is not a problem
Yep, definitely looks doable now. Love cyanogenmod and ubuntu.

But count me in for beta! Would be pretty awesome seeing Ubuntu 4 Phones on our beloved GNote!

Well, one step at a time. First get it to work, then dual boot is the next step.
Finally, it might be possible to run them "together", for example running CM apps in Ubuntu Touch.
I mean by transforming the base Android system into a fully-fledged CM and connect it up to Ubuntu.
Not sure that is feasible yet, but there might be a chance. And it is sure a while down the road.

Really disappointed that it's only a "skin" on top of CM10.1, proper ubuntu is what we need, to actually run linux apps but still, every advancement is positive but I'm not interested in another android port, I like jelly bean as it is, AOSP ftw.

It's not running on top of CM10.1 is running on top of the CM10.1 kernel (and some drivers for the hardware) and I wouldn't say it's fair to call that a "skin". That's like calling every linux distro a linux skin.
true, my frasing is wrong but it doesn't change the fact that it's not capable of running linux apps, it's just another take on android, and on a tablet such as this I'd love to be able to dual-boot into android/linux, let's see where archlinux will take us but with the way things are changing and people upgrading to newer devices this will be left behind as well eventually, and to think that since the first quad core device a year ago today we call the tegra 3 a low-powered chipset compared to the powerhouses coming out, and people still don't have a quad core cpu at their home pcs and laptops, anyway, offtopic, let's see...
as far as I heard from many different people now it is just something to show the skin as main features like wallpaper, rotation and others aren't working yet although they should... Basically I would prefer a dualboot solution with stock ubuntu and android, but just my personal opinion...

Challenge accepted! Lol Cupcake on the Evo. Wonder how that would run being that the Evo specs are well above what's needed. I'm assuming, if someone is actually able to get it to boot cupcake, that it would run about as well as running Windows 95 on one of today's typical PC specs.
In regards to the toolbox and apps. Would the flash 11.x work on GB as well? I thought flash stopped at 10.x for GB and 11.x was for 4.x.x (ICS and up).

I think it does run on GB. When I flash a rom I flash this group of app along with it. It shows up in my apps when I boot up but I am not sure of the last time I used any flash on my phone. I usually use my pc for the Internet.
Op has some more info. I will be working on it more over the next few days. This will have apps, tweaks, and tricks. The apps are one part of the toolbox that will start showing up in our roms. They will also be included in a flashable zip for those who are not using our roms. The second part of the toolbox will be exclusive to our roms. It consists of modifications to the installer script that will put a copy of your recovery log into a folder on your sdcard. It will also do a md5sum of the rom you are installing and put that in the folder also.
Remember this is a work in progress so don't expect it to be finished over night.
Peace,
Love, and
Happiness
