Do you have spots on your sgs2 screen frame where coating peel off?
Picture below shows peeled spots on my sgs2.

I notice that chrome background on peal-off spots turns black after few days, so I decided to peeled off whole frame. For peeling I used my nails. It take a while, but I was very satisfied with result.
You could also try with some hard wood or plastic material, but I don't recommend metal because you can easily scratch the the chrome on the frame.

This is bottom part of phone after 2 weeks of "peeling and healing" process .
But does it completely turn dark? everywhere, I mean

Yes, it remains black and looks even better than before.
Ok. So you have to peel the ALL the coating until you see the metalic shiny reflective part?
This really works?

Yes , last picture shows how it looks after it's finished.
Did the same on mine a while ago. Totally worth it, but it takes time.
Wooden toothpicks are also great for the space between the screen and the frame, but i admit i used sometimes a cuterblade,... risky.
A soft eraser is good for polishing the plastic also in case of scratches.
S2
It looks great nad better than before(the original) i will do the same with my phone
Patience is the key. Do a little when you have time : you tube buffering, download waiting, girlfriend shopping when waiting outside the shop... kidding...
But you won't regret it : it should have been done like this, but, well they know... if it get destroy, maybe you will change for a new phone, a samsung one,...hmm, with the same sh***ty frame like the s3... and the s4...
EDIT: by the way, i forgot to say that for the rounded corners, the hardest part, i used the metallic part of a standard lighter. The metal can be bended and the paint on that part (so choose one with a paint coating ) is soft enough to prevent scratches...
So much fun

anyone in here paint their EVOs? first I did the paint scrape mod, ending up with black-red-black, then i bought the back plate and battery cover in stock white so I ended up with a bunch of color combinations...now I painted my original (the one I scraped) plate and battery cover baby blue and gave it a few coats of clear.
I think it looks nice.

That looks pretty damn sexy...I really want to do this mod but with my luck ill break my evo and SOL since It voids your warranty.

I've painted mine as well. I originally had the white evo, but after having it fall out of my pocket on the pavement, it had a few dings where the red plastic was showing through. So I decided to sand it down and paint it. Except that I was sorta lazy and just used what I already had, and just a few weeks prior to this, I had been repainting the bumper on my black car.
So I disassembled it, sanded it down to get rid of the dings (the plastic is disturbingly soft), and then just did the 1-2-3 punch of plastic adhesion promoter, base coat, and clearcoat. 2-3 coats of each, naturally.
I think it turned out pretty ok, though I left my battery cover as-is.
I took some photos to document the process here. Unfortunately I had to use flash on these shots, and it ends up looking sorta worse than it does in real life.

looks great. you did a better job in terms of procedure. I think this is my best job so far but it's far from perfect...I'm still learning!

Thanks, I do plan on repainting it something other than black at some point, but for now this is preferable to having visible dings on the body.
I like the color you chose for yours and it looks really nice. I'm impressed with the fact that you were able to keep the HTC lettering metallic while painting the rest of it; regardless of whether you masked them off or just removed them and then re-attached them, it had to have been kind of a pain.
That said, I think I prefer the stock white back on that; it color-coordinates really well with the back of the case.
Also I noticed that you painted the inside of your kickstand white. subtle, but a nice touch.
I did this a while back for my gf...
The problem with this is once you put a case over it its pointless. Better off just painting a case. Does anyone really use an Evo with no case?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
I don't use a case.
wow...props, that looks bad azz! but yea...i'm clumsy so i dont think i could pull that off without breaking it some how

I feel the same about phone cases as I do bras for cars. Maybe they protect your phone, but they look stupid. I'd much rather have a scratched up phone than a stupid looking case on it. BTW, I bought my Evo on launch day, never used a case or screen protector, and you have to look very hard to find any imperfections.
*sorry to get off topic - OP, I'm digging that shade of blue... very nice job.
so.. I clean my screen and back every bloody day.. and somehow i have a hairline stratch on the screen -.- any ideas how i can get rid of it
replace the screen
put a screen protecter it will make it unvisible
Go for gadget shields scratch guard or invisible shield..they are the best in the market and available for almost all phones..

lool it will cost me 449 dollars to replace screen :L screen protector hid the stratch.. so much for gorilla glass three.. i dont get how on the test videos they bloody used knifes and **** on the phone and nothing -.- i treat my phone like a god and it got this :L
What most people just don't get is the fact that sand is harder than metal and will scratch gorilla glass.
With every new phone coming onto the market some idi0ts claim that you don't need a screen protector and this is simply NOT true.
The only glass like thing (that I carry around) that I know of which doesn't scratch is the sapphire glass of quality watches.
If they made phone screens of that material then they would crack in no time.....

GG3 has the same scratch resistance as GG2. Also the metal in the knives isnt as hard as glass so they shouldnt scratch it. Why do you think no one does scratch tests by rubbing sand on their phone
lol the screen protector didnt get rid of the scratch it just hid it...
anyways, this is the reason why i bought a bunch of screen protectors. its more scratch resistant but its not like its diamond or something.
if you think you dont need screen protectors, think again
I have seen some reports of people thinking their lenses are scratched when in fact they are micro cracks. This is my third phone with this problem and I took some pictures to show people what to loo for and how to do it.
Here is a picture of what appears to be a scratched up lens.

But when you plane light off the surface of the glass you can see it is clean, they aren't scratches but micro cracks which in turn get bigger and look like scratches.
[/IMG]
This is a defect that will come out more and more, somethings wrong, either they didnt put a rubber gasket around it or the phone flexes too much and its too thin to withstand the strain?
Look really close and you may see the beginnings of the cracks in your lenses too.
I dont see anything in your pictures as hard as I'm looking. I don't have anything on mine either. I wouldnt call it a defect. Something had to have happened for it to crack whether you noticed you did it or not. I used to say the same worth the Nexus 4 glass back. Things don't just break themselves. It's thick sapphire crystal.. Not glass.

Ok, you must not have read my post, this is the third one I have had with this issue. If you look at the top pic you'll see what looks like scratches on the bottom right of the lens itself, except they go all across the whole lens ( hard to photograph. The second pic shows a clean surface which proves they aren't scratches.
No I did not hit it on anything, had it in a case before I even left the store all 3 times. I also have a Nexus 4 without a scratch on it. Others are reporting scratches, but I wanted to show they aren't scratches at all, but cracks within the sapphire itself, and YES sapphire crystals damage easily, just look at watches with their sapphire crystals, and they are much thicker then this thin piece they used here.
I really like the leather. But every sign of wear or damage..., those things happen... . I don't like.
Especially after dropping on the floor three times.

Had mine since launch in the UK, my black leather back is still in good shape. Some *very* small signs of wear on the corners, but nothing you'd notice unless you were looking really closely.
I haven't dropped mine (yet) though!

Dropping the phone isn't a "sign of wear"...you can't blame it for getting dinged up on your own account. Same thing would happen to plastic backs.

Yes that is.... It's also wear... Daily use. And dropping on the floor is a part of it.
I don't blame anybody or the quality.
Guess you miss the purpose of the post.
Just curious how other people's covers look like...

I understand the post completely, I'm just saying dropping your phone isn't a sign of wear. Taking it in/out of your pocket and handling it constantly would be a sign of wear.
Mine actually looks pretty good, minus small discoloration on the corners. I'm actually pretty surprised by how well its held up. I suspect it depends on the leather used and how well it was constructed.
Mine is showing a decent amount of wear along the border/on the edges. I actually like it. I have the brown leather and the brown had too much of an orange-ish tint for my taste. I like that with the wear it's darkened up a bit.
Sent from my LG-H811 using XDA Free mobile app
I clean it with leather conditioner, so it's softened up a bit. Looks slightly darker than when I bought it, and the corners are darkening/peeling but I didn't get a clear picture, I like the wear though so it doesn't bother me much.
Before I took my black leather off and replaced it with the plastic and slapped a case on.
The leather was holding up perfectly fine. The corners seemed fine as well. The black is a bit different from the rest of them it seems though.
Has anyone (especially those who own Black Pearl colour) exprenced this (first picture).
At first I thought it's just some dust but when I washed my phone and looked closely, it's actually something under the glass which looks like a cheap temepered glass's border (second picture).
The difference is only some parts of them are in white, the rest are beautiful in black (or transparent?).
It doesn't affect waterproof or anything but still triggers me a lot. Is this normal ?

This looks totally normal, it looks like dust build up in the slight gap between the tempered glass and screen itself or the space between the screen and body in some chase.. this is usually noticeable on black phones.
So U are saying that upon close inspection it looks like it's under the glass?
If so, I can confirm that it may be possible, because I'm having that issue. I have a silver titanium model, and on the upper side, it seems that the silver paint doesn't go all the way to the edge on the front glass, so I am able to see the glue that holds the glass.

I'm pretty sure it's not the dust because I even sink the phone in water.

it is just dust and dirt build up, I don't find it alarming, you can still show it to a repairer to be sure..
