Has anyone else switched to quick controls in honeycomb's browser, by going to settings->Labs? It gives you all the menu items in a semi-circle at your finger too just from swiping along the edge of the screen. I have since day one and am not gng back! I haven't seen anyone comment on this awesome, somewhat hidden, feature, so I thought I would attempt to bring it to everyines attention.
in fact I love it so much I wish it was integrated throughout the rest if the os. I often find myself swiping the side of the screen attempting to use the back button or whatever else. Then sadly I realize I am not in the browser and begrudgingly reach down to the bottom left corner...
If you guys have tried it let me know what you think. If you havn't, give it a whirl and post back
I tried it, but couldn't get it in to it. You have to swipe very close to the edge of the screen, so the popup wouldn't appear several times because I wasn't swiping close enough to the edge. It seems like it would be good, but it needs a little work. Maybe they've fixed it or there are some settings that I didn't look at.

I have never had it not register...perhaps you're doing it wrong.
Simply move your finger from the bezel to the screen on the left or right sides of screen, like you are pulling the menu out. Move your finger to the option you want and release.

I often catch myself swiping when using a 3rd party browser. Long pressing a page brings focus back to the tab as well so its the best of both worlds.
It does however confuse others when they want to check out my Xoom haha.
Yeah I love this option as well.. Took me a little while to figure it out as well.. Make sure your swiping closed to the middle as well because otherwise all the options wont be visible.
Yeah, honestly, my only complaint is that it registers sometimes when I am trying to click a link near the edge of the screen. But doesn't happen very often and a precise touch or quick zoom remidies this.
It is a nice option but I do not like the fact that it hides all of the other controls that are much easier to simply tap with one touch. I realize that it adds more screen real estate but it just doesn't seem easier to use to me. Maybe it is just me.

Agree... would be nice if this was done by toggle so you could have both if you want.
Greedy users we are.
Didn't know about this but I really like it.

The only thing I would like added is a "close tab" button. To anyone having issues activating the option wheel, you don't just touch the edge of the touchscreen...you start with your finger off the screen on the bezel and drag it on from the side.
I love it too. At first it seemed a little flakey but the more I use it the more it's become second nature.

When there are multiple tabs open, they appear across the top just like before. To get another tab use the + (plus) sign.
There are different controls in others corners. This seems to make the browser faster. Thanks for the tip...

I'm loving my Note, but just found a small issue. It's not enough to return it, but it's there. When, say drawing with your finger, or using Swype, the lines can turn out rather jagged if you move your finger slowly. I've attached a picture showing this. I alternate between drawing slowly and quickly.
I've noticed this on other devices, such as the Nook Color, but wouldn't expect this out of a high-end device. Has anyone else noticed this?
Sent from my GT-N8013 using xda app-developers app
Could the jaggedness be caused by finger shake?
Maybe partially, but here's my test on my phone. Its a Samsung Mesmerize: part of the original Galaxy S series

That image isn't working for some reason, lemme try again:
Sent from my GT-N8013 using xda app-developers app
Also, don't forget that there's the object tool in S-Note. It'll straighten any lines you draw.
I've also noticed that with my finger, it only happens some of the time. This issue also makes scrolling a tiny bit jittery. All is smooth with the pen.
I'm wondering if it's just a slight defect that's specific to my Note...

To rule out human error have you tried using a ruler to repeat the test?

For me, it happens when I'm scrolling slowly, leaving my finger on the screen. Its fine when flick scrolling, or with the s pen.

Alright, so I made a couple videos on my issues. The shorter one shows the problems when plugged in, and the longer one shows the normal issues. Its kinda hard to see the weirdness in scrolling in the longer one, but the shorter one shows the same problem, just amplified. I hope that makes some kind of sense haha

A couple questions:
Is battery saver on?
Is this only happening when you are plugged in?
If nor, Is this phenomenon happening more pronounced when plugged in?
Is this happening inside the xda app?
Anywhere else?
My xda app on the tablet sucks. Its the one app i have that constantly crashes (other than crackle), randomly.
i haven't witnesssed this phenomenon OUTSIDE of the xda app - i have noticed a weird lagginess, almost as if the text was on a weighted spinning wheel, and when you spin it, it slows down almost as if gravity is pulling it down due to the weight.
some of the GS2's (especially sprint variety) had an issue where if it was plugged in, the touchscreen did not respond very well and TouchWiz went 4x as slow. it sometimes till happens if i use the wrong wall outlet. again, i haven't seen this happened while plugged in (the cord is too short for me) but try doing this without it plugged in.
i haven't had any problems with the Wacom digitalizer. i mean, it's top of the line, right? i haven't really used my finger to draw a straight line (i thought that's why we had a pen) but when i did, i drew it mostly straight until i drew slow. then my own FINGER was moving the line up and down and it became squiqqly. i doubt it has to do with the wacom digitzer, but perhaps you have a bad one. i haven't had the problems you've reported, and i can assure you i have been putting this tablet through the grinder TRYING to find things wrong with it. Blame Asus for what they did to me with the Prime and Infinity but all I can complain about is losing 14 pages of Snotes after the update and the squeekiness on the right side of my tablet. As i'm using this with BT keyboard and BT mouse now with no drop in speed, i'll take the squeekiness anyday.
I'll keep searching for this digitizer issue. originally i had some sort of digitizer issue but i haven't had it since the update. it was suggested to me to do a hard reset but i didn't go that route. i also find this fascinating that it's unlike the old Windows Phone 98/5/5.1/6 editions that had you touch your stylus to a certain part of the screen once hard reset to calibrate the screen.

Power Save mode was off. It becomes more pronounced while plugged in, and sometimes it'll stop tracking my finger while charging. It happens
in most, if not all apps I've used.
In CM10, the problem isn't quite as bad, but that could be due to Project Butter and how smooth everything is. It is still there, however.
I'm really hoping its an isolated issue, because besides this, this tablet is excellent(and this issue doesn't *totally* degrade the experience)

I noticed this thread earlier and was wondering if it was the same issue. As said, I'm really hoping this is an isolated problem. There's a good chance I'll exchange this for the 32gb (Best Buy didn't have it at the time), so I'll post back here if I do. Or maybe its just a driver/kernel issue that can be resolved in an update! Let's hope for that

Ah, the old OM (Oscillatory maintenance). It's a pet theory that that will do anything, but clearly it's a technique for wimps.
Everyone knows that when something stops working, clearly the best cure is PM (Percussive Maintenance)...
(Now I'll have to pay attention and see if I ever wimp out )
When I got my first Tablet PC, I used a Wacom stylus with an eraser end (which works with the Note 10.1 - BTW).
When I was drawing, I'd flip the pen over to erase and without thinking, I'd *brush away the eraser crumbs*... which makes sense on paper, but of course, doesn't make sense on a tablet.
I don't do it much anymore - but I still sometimes feel my arm wanting to do it even now...
Amazing how we get into these deep grooves and even more amazing how close to 'the real thing' these devices can be.
Thats nothing, I was reading an actual paper magazine and tried to scroll the page. Had to look and see if anyone noticed thank god no one did.

I regularly try to use touch on my laptop's external monitor. It looks like a large version of a tablet since it's on an arm, and really messes with my head.

If you touch the screen, it responds in whatever app you happen to be in. I can't get it to work either. I'm guessing there will be a software update in the next couple of weeks to fix. Whether AT&T releases it is another matter.

I can do it every time. Use the whole side of your hand and slide it across the screen end to end. Maybe the Note II trained me how to do it...
I too had trouble with this on my SIII when I first got it until I started doing what Bjray explained, you don't use your palm, you use the side of your palm as if you're chopping something, then brush from one side of the screen to the other, starting OFF the screen's edge on one side, and moving kind of quickly to the other.... practice makes perfect, even if you do look pretty silly doing it! There's definitely no software update that needs to occur for you to get what we're saying and screen shot every time

Nope. Just tried it in low light, bright light, turned it off and on again. Which "Samsung gesture" things do you have turned on? I have some of them off (smart pause, etc). Maybe there's something there, or maybe my sensor isn't sensing...some of them did work though, so I don't think its that. Power/Home works fine, but it still bothers me that I can't get it to work.
Am I the only one that notice how sensitive the display is on the S7 Edge? Most times when I'm scrolling through the Internet, XDA app, etc. it seems to be too sensitive and it'll make GHOST touches.
I had this issue on the One Plus One before but it seemed to be a hardware defect. Hopefully that isn't the same here.
BTW I HAVE A SPIGEN CASE ON IT SO I'M NOT ACCIDENTALLY TOUCHING THE SIDES.
I have the same occasional issue with or without a case. Considering returning it for a regular s7
Gave it to my wife to try and she says it's way too sensitive (compared to her iPhone ). I've been feeling it's sensitive also....
Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
Same here. I have he T-mobile S7 Edge. Sometimes it seems like all I have to do is hover my finger a couple of mm's above the screen and it registers as though I am touching it. If I remember correctly, didn't the S3 have a setting that could adjust the sensitivity?
It will be fixed with update here soon... Samsung is in the midst or rolling out the update for the edge display... Its a worldwide issue.
For a second I thought it was just me. Hopefully it's just a software issue. I love this phone and I would hate to return it. It's already bad enough that our bootloader is locked.

I would assume that just about everyone on XDA is used to a FAST phone. If the phone works flawless for you then fine but there is obviously an issue with this phone and it's sensitivity.
Yea I made a thread about this issue before. Can't find it ATM.
I almost returned the phone because I thought it was a hardware defect but I learned a lot of folks have this issue. I really hope it gets fixed.
It happenes most when I scroll up or down, if my finger doesn't leave the screen with a swiping movement after the initial swioe/scroll, then 1outt of 5 times it will register a press. And if there are selectable items under my scroll, it's a pita and will select things that I may not be aware of. Ugh.. Staring at shipping labels right now debating on a return . but I like the s7 a lot, I'm torn.
