I was updating my phone from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2 via pc until it failed and i got stuck in AP flashboot mode and I can't get out.
My phone is rooted and I have downloaded RSD Lite, but I cannot proceed any further due to my lack of knowledge
Please help me.
Look for mattgroff utility with the 4.1.2 update... I think it's utility 1.20? I had the same problem as you, but I downloaded that and it worked perfectly

EDIT: I did step 1 and 2, but now i am getting a no valid PIV block in SP for cdrom error. What now
Option one flashes you back to stock Rom and I'm pretty sure option 2 gives you root

You only need to do option 1 if all you are wanting to do is to update to 4.1.2. It will flash everything you need. Taking option 2 for you is redundant since it installs stock recovery, option 1 will do that while flashing your system to 4.1.2. Installing stock recovery is for us that have an aftermarket recovery and we want to get stock recovery back to take the OTA.

So i just switched from HTC ONE X to the nexus 4 and my version is 4.2 and i just rooted it. I have the system OTA update 4.2.1. Should i take it or is there another way to update my phone to 4.2.1 without OTA?
Do not OTA update once you're already rooted; flash this stock ROM (https://www.dropbox.com/s/syi2vmxh0noi2bv/occam-jop40d-factory-ca7602f0.tgz) and re-root.

That is a tgz file, not a zip. You'll need a PC, 7zip and fastboot.

Yes yes i figured it out
I've been trying to do this without wiping my device. It's still downloading so I haven't seen the contents, but I'm assuming just flash the .img files with fastboot and it won't erase anything? Would the Rootkeeper app work for this?
if you're only rooted, ota will work and would install without issues. it will only fail if you have modified some system files or the recovery. no need to reflash anything except the supersu for root if you don't use rootkeeper

Flash the stock recovery.img and boot.img. You won't lose anything.

Your settings probably also modified the system files. Try flashing that too since you have the stock files. Just don't do userdata so your data is kept intact

I rooted, unlocked bootloader and flashed recovery yesterday then installed the OTA after, had no issues at all. If you are using cwm recovery it re-roots and prevents stock recovery being flashed after the ota is installed.
So am running rooted 4.2.1 at the mo.. And its sick

You can, it's fine and will work as long as you have stock recovery. You might lose root but can easily re-root if necessary.

Because it won`t!!!
So I got the OTA update, but after downloading it, the install failed (dead android says: error), then the Nexus 7 reboots to 4.2.2.
I already did a factory reset, but it didn't help either...
Anyone with the same issue?

I got this problem...
I download this OTA...Then it say reboot to install but it enter TWRP.
Then I put the zip to internal storage and flash but I got error.

looks like your SystemUI.apk has been modified not in original. I would recommend to get copy of systemUI.apk from stock 4.2.2 and copy it to your tablet and using file explorer, replace it. and give a try.

my OTA failed too, different error. this usually always the case if /system/ folder integrity check failure (error 7), means files in /system/ folder are not original or modified. Yours does not give any details, but I bet it is. to see what error, try to flash it thru CWM or any other custom recovery you use.

I guess I'll download the Nexus Toolkit, click on the flash stock + unroot button, so it flashes the stock 4.2.2 and then I'll try to OTA update again.
I already unrooted, but I think it's not a problem.
Seems like it is not fixable!
I used fast boot to push my missing file.
I used es file explorer.
I used titanium back up to make the app, system...
No way, nothing. Not the slightest luck.
(My missing app is xt9ime.apk)
I haaaaaate this situation.
the worst thing is that xt9ime.apk is asus keyboard, and it is disabled by google on nexus 7.
why should not having an app that they don't want to use be a problem. X(

Are you guys with errors using SuperSU? If so what version?
It seems like that the last couple versions touch a file used by OTAs. The Dev recommends using the "Full Unroot" option in the SuperSU app prior to accepting the OTA.

I did full unroot, and I also did a factory reset, but it still fails to install.
Using Wug's Toolkit to flash stock 4.2.2 is a good idea?
Then try to OTA update 4.3 again?

Fastboot is a utility used to control the base fastboot firmware on many Android devices. It lets you do low-level actions such as flashing a custom recovery, ROM, or kernel. Toolkits run fastboot behind the scene, but automate the commands for newer users.
I had exactly the same problem and after trying a few things, I just found a working solution for my Nexus 7.
I used the same tool I used to unlock and root a few months ago: Nexus Root Toolkit 1.6.3.
I made a backup of my files first, my idea being to reflash the 4.2.2 rom
I downloaded the system file here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#occamjwr66v
Then, in the Nexus Root Kit, launch " flash stock + unroot" and select the downloaded system file.
The flash lasts 5 minutes, and the system will reboot.
Then you need to reactivate the usb debugging .
The next action is to relock the Nexus, with the "OEM Lock" in Nexus Root Toolkit.
The system will reboot after flash.
Then, the 4.3 update will be available automaticaly but this time the installation won't crash.
I hope this could help.

Thanks for the idea. I used a similar approach with different steps and got 4.3 and root back.
I had stock 4.2.2, stock recovery, rooted (SuperSU).
Backup data.
From the Toolkit at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1809195

- Download Stock Image
- "15. Android 4.2.2 (Build JDQ39)
... followed directions to download and flash WITHOUT wiping USERDATA

I wanted to save my data and wasn't sure if going directly to 4.3 would be safe. Was just being cautious and letting the OTA do the update.
I was on stock 4.2.2 with TWRP installed and I took the OTA to 4.3. Now whenever I try and access my recovery it dispays the Android mascot lying on its back, chest open with a red triangle with an exclamation mark above. I tried flashing TWRP 2.6 via fastboot twice but I still get the same error. How can I fix this? Thank you!
What Fastboot command did you do?, toolkits can't help on 4.3.
The android getting operated on is a security feature so criminals cannot get your data, it is Volume up and power to access the stock recovery on that screen.

Same exact situation. Stock 4.2.2 with TWRP installed (version 2.6) and then did the OTA. Losing TWRP and root in this situation is normal. I also could not reinstall TWRP the normal fastboot way, and then I saw the following on several forums, and it installed jut fine:

I managed to fix this after trying a variety of things. All I had to do was rename the downloaded TWRP file and flash using "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" and it worked flawlessly.

I still can root my 4.3 JB via toolkits like wugfresh etc?! Right?!
And i too got the same problem couple of days back while rooting manually, so finally had to flash stock.

You don't have to unroot. Just download and flash TWRP 2.6.3.2. On that build, they fixed the issues of 4.4 ROMS incorrectly flashing. Using it myself with no problems. Its in Original Android Development if I'm not mistaken

Using ClockWorkMod Recovery v6.0.4.3, when trying to flash the 4.4 factory image .zip file on the SD Card I keep getting an "Installation Aborted" error after "Installing update..." step and the red Triangle on the android figure.
When attempting to sideload using stock recovery, getting a "Signature Verification Failed"

If you haven't already tried it, under Mount uncheck system, that solved the problem for me.

op, all you have to do is update your recovery to twrp latest(v.2.6.3.3). flash your rom, flash your 4.4 gapps, and flash the latest supersu then reboot.

I will chime in on this one. I too have had constant failures with TWRP trying to flash ROMs lately. I'm running 2.6.3.3 and everything results in failure. I've tried the unchecking of system mount, multiple downloads with verified MD5s, sideloads, etc. Nothing is working.

next time you flash, after it fails, boot into the bootloader from the recovery. then, from the bootloader, go into the recovery again and flash.

ill be honest, i dont know why. but i do know that it has worked for many. the alternative, which works 100% of the time, would be to delete your recovery, then flash it again. btw, did it work for you?

I won't be able to experiment for a couple of weeks. I do know that I've wiped my phone four times or more in the last week with the 4.3 and 4.4 factory images and either manually or using one of the tool kits have added TWRP custom recovery and rooted the phone. Each time trying to flash a ROM it would result in a failure.
Next time I get the chance, I'll give your suggestion a shot and let you know. Are there logs I can capture that might prove useful?

So essentially I've done that with each factory image installed, correct? I'll have to read up on ADB and Fastboot to get the commands to remove the existing recovery. Will be a good way to kill some time (such the life I lead, being envious is not good for your soul)...

no, you just flashed the next version of the recovery over the last. occasionally, something doesnt want to update in the partition, so clearing the previous recovery before flashing the new one will take car of it.

OK that confuses me. If using fastboot to place a new boot loader, radio, recovery and ROM are onto the phone and I have to 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img' to replace the stock recovery that doesn't wipe out the stock recovery? Fabulous sentence structure.

So i manage to remover the boot failure on from fastboot mode since it has been there everytime it boots up and it didnt boot up fully but after using droid utility to downgrade to 4.1.2 it no more goes to fastboot but now its stuck on a bootloop and my device is unlocked. So my question is. Can i install a rom to get out of this bootloop or is there any other way to get of the boot loop? Please i really need help!!!!
You should follow this to go back to 4.1.2 I would try to rsd back to whatever firmware you were on or just kk... Do you have a custom recovery on there to try and flash the ROM... What update were you on prior to doing what you did

I was running 4.4.2 kk but after ive tried to flash a image by using flasify to remove the boot loader unlocked message but it failed and it would start up on fastboot and thats it but after using droid utility to try to go back to 4.1.2 but after the reboot it stays in the bootloader message. but i do have a custom recovery im using twrp
I'm guessing you didn't make a backup before trying to flash the image... Or at all... I would say just restore your back up... If you want you could try to flash a ROM it would have to be comparable with whatever kernel you have and it may not work as you tried to use (I'm guessing) matt's utility... I would rsd the 4.4.2 firmware or use house of moto... If you want rid of the warning boot logo ATTACK just released some.... Always make a backup before attempting anything of that nature...and if you want to go back to 4.1.2 after the restore follow the method linked above

Yeah well for now on ill try to make a backups more often but is there any stock roms availible for my device
Not recovery flashable....you should also search around for yourself more...
