[Q] Phone Speaker [Louder] - PowerAmp Setting - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Everyone,
For those of you music junkies out there, yall already know about PowerAmp. One of the preset settings called "Phone Speaker louder" is personally one of my favourite and keeps me coming back to this app. I just wanted to know if anyone was able to get equivalent loud sound using the DPSmanager app?
The reason I ask because although I like power-amp..I am using the trial version and I hate re-installing it every 30 days after the trial expires.
Anyone mind sharing their settings they use?
Thank You.

Lmao just buy it or something. It's not that much

which settings are you interesting? I own full version of PowerAmp so i can take a screen for you

Poweramp worth it, buy it. I can't get more loudly with dsp or another sound app/settings... Just remember to take off the option "limit" the system and the app put a limit to the speakers and obviously without it the phone will get louder

Tasker experience on G2

I am on the fence about getting Tasker. I wanted to automate Wifi and notification sounds turning off/on and was going to get Tasker, but I found an app called Timeriffic and it does a good job. But I still like the level of customization afforded by Tasker.
MY question is this - if anyone has been using it on their G2 for a while, have you noticed any performance degradation? Also, noob question - what happens when you get an update or something? Do you have to pay again?
1. I've been using it for 2 weeks and I haven't noticed a drop a performance but I huge jump in efficiency
2. If there is an update you will not have to pay for the application again and all the profiles you have created will still be there.
Its definetly one of my favorite apps, I use it all the time. Once you buy it from the market updates are free, and it does not slow down your phone.

Thanks, guys. I think I'll go ahead and get it.

I've been using it since the first week it came out. I have no problems with it. Definitely one of my top-5 apps.
I've been using Tasker for two weeks now. I really like it and have noticed very little performance drop, if any. Buy it directly from their website and it's a few dollars cheaper than the Android Market. The program will check for updates itself every so often.
Make sure to read the Wiki; there are some good profiles on there.
Like the one that texts you back with a Google Maps link to where your phone is located. Was able to get rid of those crappy lost phone programs.

request: volume by contact

Hello folks. I have been looking for something very specific and have not been able to find it. I would like to assign a volume control to certain contacts regardless of the sound profile. For example: I go to bed and place my phone in silent mode. I would like to be able to have my wife and son get through though and ring on high. Because i work shift work, i sleep at odd times. If someone knows of an app like this or can make it, i would be very interested to hear about it.
Thanks in advance. I am currently running myn 4.
Robert
id just like to see an overall volume hack for the evo.
Take a look at Tasker. At first glance it appears a bit on the pricey side but it will allow you do this and more. I think I got a 2 week trial from their website before I bought. I don't think that there was a trial in the market.
I will warn you that the app has a bit a learning curve but it is worth the aggravation and cost.

Profile and Profile whitelist on the market, works like the BB proflies. I love it.
Thanks for the replies. I will try both and see which one works best for what I need.
Tasker it is. This program is amazing. You are correct about the learning curve though. It is quite steep. Someone has put a LOT of thought and effort into this app, but it is well worth the $$ they are asking if you actually use the functionality. I am reading FAQs and WiKi's now.
I have solved my problem with the priority ringthrough though. My wife, and any others I choose, can now ring through to me when my phone is set to silent. Thanks for turning me on to this app.
Robert
Thanks for the feedback. I don't post much so I am glad it helped.

Actually a new app called WhoIsIt does exactly what you're looking for. It was written by someone here on XDA, but sadly I don't remember who. I haven't tried it myself as I don't have a use for it, but all of the Android blogs were raving about it a couple of weeks ago.

[Q] Equalizer

Hi all,
Does anyone know of a place where I can download a good equalizer?
Thak you very much
After 5 seconds on google I found this
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.smartandroidapps.equalizer
I saw this equalizer but on that page says that "this application is not compatible with HTC Wildfire"
Hmm ok, let's look at this from a different angle ._.
Can you root your phone?
poweramp (music player) has an equalizer that I find pretty okay There's a trial version on the market. But that is only for playing music
I have had poweramp but the trial expired so if I try to instal again, a failure appears. It says the perior ... has expired so I think I can't instal poweramp but I love its equalizer. I don't know how root but if I knew, I'd probably do it but I think I can't because I've go Froyo. Can you explain me how to do it or a page where I can see that?? For what did you ask me for root?? Are there any adventages??
Thank you very much.
Sorry for my english
Well, since you don't know anything about rooting and you have FroYo I assume you have the OTA version which can't be rooted.
The advantage is that you could get Gingerbread which you know..has an in-built EQ.
Also, I sent you a PM, read it
I've read your PM and I've sent you another one. Thank you again. Do you think the Wildfire will update to 2.3? I have read in many places that the wild will not be updated, but I think it will have to upgrade the wildfire. What do you think?? Will the wild be updated??
I personally don't think it'll get gingerbread ota.
But there are custom roms with gingerbread.
I'm just waiting for AlphaRev
I have been able to access the page you told me before

Sign Up For Spotify!

Hey guys click the link and enter your email address to sign up for Spotify. They are coming to the USA!
http://www.spotify.com/uk/coming-to-the-us/
Done! Thanks for the tip...
Thank you!
I can really recommend Spotify, I've been using it daily for the past three years here in Sweden. Also it's nice to have your music available on your computer, phone and Transformer.
I can't wait! I currently use Grooveshark which isn't bad but they're not great on reliability; they have some server/dropouts issues.
They also aren't great on customer complaints....
I'm REALLY looking forward to this.
Ghosttown the best music app on android
I already signed up for it. It's free right I'm not sure how Spotify works or anything. I know there is a paid option that allows local storage.
Although I already have Zune (Love it) so I dunno why I'd use this...oh right it'll work on my TF.

Far from it...lol....
If you are looking for accuracy of your chosen music it does a horrible job...it shows the album that the song came from and then it might (not always) play a cover by someone of that same song...it can't differentiate versions of songs...it's no different than putting in youtube "bruce springsteen darkness edge of town" and hopefully getting the right song.
Groove shark is better and Slacker is better. (but you have to put up with a different mix of "similar songs" if you don't want to pay)
I think it's worth 9.00 a month and I'm sure that Spotify will be very good (from what I've seen)

WIME Nano Smartwatch, looks nice

Interesting Android smartwatch here. It can actually be used as a standalone phone, bands are GSM/GPRS Quad Band:GSM 850/900/DCS 1800/PCS 1900 MHZ (can this be used on AT&T?).
What I'm not seeing is if it can be used as a dialer for your phone, so you can just leave it in your pocket and make and receive calls like the Gear.
What do you guys think? I'm tempted to get it just to play around with.

Doing some further reading, yes you can initiate a call to your phone with it, woot! It also has music over bluetooth and local storage. It looks like it has no speaker/mic so you have to use a headset with it, boo, but that's ok.

D'oh. I missed it, I went straight down to the pictures. Either that or the page didn't load completely the first time. Either way, thank you!
That's not a bad price point at all... maybe a mini server or media player...
Feature phone software, bleh.
Although I guess for 100 bucks you can't expect it to run Android.
Edit: Hmm, just noticed no where does it say there's a speaker built in...guess you have to use a headset to use it as a phone.
Also only compatible with Android 2.3-4.0. Doesn't say it works with newer.

Strange, I was also surprised by that 4.0 rather then 4.x reference. And I think you are right about headphone 3.5mm jack as the only way to listen to the music. Would have been great if they would include a camera in there.
Is it ok to say that it looks kinda...ugly?
Or is it just me?

Good Lord. I'm off tonight. I thought it RAN android. In this case, I'd say the price point may be a little high.

Haha, first thing that crossed my mind when i saw it.
Dunno why but personally i find most smart watches just tend to look either dull, or just plain awful. Maybe it's because of the space they have to work with? Dunno :/
You guys realize it's a phone? It might be nice to have as a backup phone, or if I just want a tiny phone. It doesn't run apps, but I never had much use for apps on a 1.5" screen.
It's interesting, I may grab one just to play around with. It seems to have AT&T bands. I don't plan on using it like a watch though, it's too ugly like that. I'd just stick it in my pocket or clip it on.

We're fully aware. It's just between recent offerings like the Omate Truesmart and previous offerings like every chinese watch phone out there, this one seems like too little too late to really make sense right now.
If you want a cheap feature-phone watch check out what's available to get a style you like. This one is pretty big and ugly for what it does.

Thanks, do you have any links to any watch phones that work with AT&T like this one does? I did a google search and didn't find much, Chinese tech seems kind of hard to find on the internet.

I sort of want the microphone... it's a super tiny phone that was on indiegogo for like $50 when it launched. GPS enabled for a bit more, I think.

So I got one and got to say this thing is a perfect companion for a phone at work. Built in mic allows you to answer on your wrist and be like I'll call you back it also has Bluetooth audio out and wireless headset support. Weird thing is contacts and messages won't work without a sim has to have one active or not I'm on Verizon so its pointless to try lucky I had art laying around and it vibrates!! This thing is sweet to be cheap!!!

From the watch description:
Smart Sync Function: Can sync with smart phone, downloading phonebook and call history (iOS 4.0+ and Android 2.3+) to the device. When using Android 2.3+ OS, download and install the WiMe NanoSmart APK on the Android device and the NanoSmart will sync with the Android device (Google calendar events, new Gmail notification, call history, phonebook, sent/received SMS).
Have you tried to install WiMe NanoSmart?
I'm on 4.3 AOKP linario I can't say its bougus but the contacts sync but....... With out each and every number having the country code in it it refuses to call or message weird right? Gmail hasn't worked or calendar. I refuse to downgrade for it. I use this to get away with texting and calling at work via mini Bluetooth headset and a beanie lol.
