Ok, just got the phone and on the bottom of the back of the phone where the speaker output is it is slightly raised...it seems normal, but unecessary so im just wondering if everyones is like that or if mine has a slight cosmetic defect...
Again...it seems normal. just a little out of place/unneccessary ...and its jot the actual speaker itself but on the back cover where the port for the speaker on the middle line it is raised slightly

I think it is just a design flaw.

Could be there for when the phone is on a flat surface you can still hear the sound.
I'm not really sure tho.

Alright cool...justvwanted to make sure mije wasnt the only one...will be requesting this thread be shutdown as soon as I get to my pc

I'd say keep it up. It assisted in answering a question of mine as I thought it was a defect at first glance.

My Galaxy Note had the same bump, it helps to elevate the speaker if it's on a flat surface. I never consciously noticed it until now

I know I'm being nitpicky but I wanted to know if it's normal that my headphones are slanted about 5 degrees towards the left and not just perpendicular to the phone?
I'm using the headphones that came with a SGS3, and it's not the cord.
Can't take a pic now. Might be able tomorrow.

I noticed that to with beats glad it just not mine lol

Yes, it's normal.
Yes. mine too. It's probably normal.
Yep .. mine too, noticed it the other day.
Yeah, just noticed it, I find it more well thought of than anything, it makes the jack flush with the curved design, while not being of any disturbance.
I've noticed my nexus 4 has a crackling sound from its ear speaker very faint almost not noticeable without close inspection oh and its started to heat up to about 38 to 40c not sure if that's a good reason to RMA it . but hey you never know if its hardware or software fault

If I put my phone to my ear, even with the screen off, I can hear a rediculously quiet clicking static sound, is this what you mean? I only notice it when I try to notice it so it doesn't bother me, an RMA would be pointless and more trouble than what its worth.

This is a known issue. No need to RMA, the new device will more likely than not have the same problem.

Is everyones earpiece grille level with the glass? I think mine has been pushed in and is now loose ish inside the phone.
The grille isn't supposed to be flush with the screen

+1, it's positioned a few millimeters below the display glass. Doesn't sound good that it's loose, though.
I think I'm just imagining stuff, its because I dropped it, and just happened to notice a rattle at the same time..but after some googling it sounds like every nexus 4 rattles
Take medicine for your OCD. Your phone is fine.
Thanks guys ocd = cured

Hi.
I've got a weird thing with my phone (i9505). when i tap the screen at the top, or even next to the speaker, it sound like something is loose. Screen works just fine, touch also.
Does anyone else have this?
Could be manufacturing defect.
Should i return it and ask for a replacement?

I'm not sure if it's what you describe but I noticed that when tapped a bit "harder" or put to the table with a little force, there is a slight vibration which feels like something is mounted on "rubber"...not sure how to describe...it's more like a part has a buffer which prevents it from being damaged. It really might be the camera lens or some other part swinging and I don't think something is broken.
My S3 also hadn't that kind of feedback when tapped. However it doesn't make any noise so I'm not sure if it's what you mean...but also it might be that same part just being broken in your phone if it's rattling.
Probably just the vibration motor. If you hold the back to your ear and tap the front, it sounds hollow (or like a drum).

Try tapping the same area on a display s4 and see if you hear the same thing. A real display too not a dumby phone.
My htc Dna did this and it was the lens. Verizon brought out a brand new dna and it did the same thing.... Lol good luck

Virtually every device forum on here as the same thread.
Its part of the camera lens that moves internally is the answer on every thread.
Noticed the lens rattle too. Sounds unnormal, but I went to the Shop and the Galaxy S4 there had the same "issue" while tapping on the upper Display Area.

I just went to the ATT store for the same reason. There is a plastic cover over the camera lens. Peel it off, the noise goes away..
There is no issues never has been, never will be. Its the autofocus in the camera.
That's why I set issue in quotes It's a constant sound while using the S4 and tapping the top of phone. On my S4 sadly loud, but according to the store no reason for a warranty exchange.

Anybody else hates the fact that ringtone sound is low when phone is placed on flat surface?
It's the only thing that i don't like on this device...

use a headset and it will sure be loud.
Use a phone cover or modify the loudness of sound.

Some cases make it worse. Loudness isn't the issue - blocked speakers is.
I do agree with the OP. Not really a smart design where placing the phone on its back effects the sound output due to the speaker being blocked. I use a custom back cover and its even worse than the original.

You using an after market case?

Ya some cases do, some will still allow certain amount of noise instead of being blocked when placed on cushion or soft grounds.
It'll be better if the speaker is at bottom beside the port area

Yes i am, but even without the case when the phone is placed on a flat surface the sound is a bit low, the case only makes it a bit worse, hats off to htc for the front stereo speakers, not to offend any of us but im sure everyone would love that on our s4, i agree with the post above the speaker should be on the bottom where the sound would not be blocked..but that's a small burden we have to carry on our back for such an amazing device
