[Q] Defy+ CM9 Battery wont charge past 78% - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I had recently flashed CM9-20121118-Nightly-Jordan on my phone. everything is smooth but the battery won't charge past 78% even if kept overnight.
I suspect its the battery saving feature from the orginal rom's battery manager. Could this be fixed. Is it possible to go back to orignal rom?
Please help.

As you have flashed a new rom, you should do battery calibration and the problem will be solved

Is calibration truly needed. I correctly remeber applying the battery saving feature. Now i want to unlock it and then calibrate. I dont wan't to calibrate wrong.

Nobody has released a kernel with EB support for NAND yet, give it time though --- I think Hastarin is working on one, not completely sure though.

Are you able to elaborate on this? Do the aftermarket EB's just "work fine" or do they actually work correctly?

Works "fine" either way, only certain Desire builds when I had SD builds would drain my battery "properly".
I didn't notice a difference between EB and Non-EB kernels, my battery would drain normal speed (as the stock 1250mA) to 0% then turn off the phone then I'd pop the battery out and put it back in and have 60% left.

Interesting. But still not actually supported to work correctly so that you can use the full 2600mah without having to remove and replace the battery. I wonder if we will ever have this type of support for EBs...

The reason they're different from Official EB's is because EB's won't boot without the EB Kernel, only Desire based Roms on SD builds would drain all the way for me, they'd drain normal to 15% then stay at 15% till the actual battery was at 15% and then continue to 0% till it was dead. Haven't found a NAND that does this yet, supposedly it reports battery stats wrong anyway.
I was hoping to install the newest NAND Android build from Sergio76 with the official HTC extended battery. I suppose this combination will not work??

No as there is no kernel support yet
I hope there will be a NAND build soon that does support the original extended HTC battery.
Other non official extended battery's, do they work with NAND Android ROM'S?

Not really. As far as i know, most 2300mah batteries has a bigger size so there will be a "bump" at the back of your hd2. That is why they are supplied with a suitable back cover!
Just wanted to report back. I have the $13 Singapore 2600 mah battery and it works with MDJ Cyanogenmod 7 v2.6.
I dont even have to remove and replace the battery for it to work. It's not perfect though, it basically runs down normally (slightly faster than I would like) and lasts a full day getting down to a 15% charge. Then it stays at 15% for another entire day and then discharges normally from there.
With all the progress that has been made on Android for HD2, I feel optimistic that the last several minor bugs will eventually be worked out and the device should function flawlessly.
Good idea here pick me
try this link (below)... it has an eb kernel that you install using clockworkmod.. so ur nand roms without eb support should work after you install.. hope this works

Backup your data and reformat your SD card then go through the CWM process again. Keep in mind, you need a CWM build to apply CWM Updates/patches.
This is what's highly recommended (and what fixed my CWM problems)

[Q] Defy ICS = battery not charging

Hi forums,
Last night, i upgraded to ICS. Everything went smooth.. First i install the CM9 kernal, then ICS, following latest gapps. Looks awesome .. I was so hyped, i left it in charge and went to sleep. This morning, i see my phone dead. I took out the battery and put it in charger again. All i get is battery logo with question mark. then i connected to my pc, after about every \ 10mins it turns on, then turns off after 1min???
I tried to look for solution, mostly suggest to use RSD Lite and go back to Froyo 2.2.2 but my phone barely turns on for 1min then goes off.
The other solution suggested to cut out a usb cable and connect it between the battery and the phone. I tried it but no luck yet.
Maybe the battery is dead? if not, any other solution?
thanks!
EDIT: nevermind: this solution worked!

This is very common issue for which you could have found the solution very easily had you scanned through cm9 threads. Basically there is a battery fix which you can flash it through cwm recovery.
enjoy, hit thanks if I had helped you.

Yes. I created this fix for regular Defy with red lense, running ICS on GB kernel - no matter if it is Quarx or Epsylon3's build - works on all of them.
does this work on defy green lense too?

I flashed ICS in my Defy+, but dint face this issue of battery not charging! Was I simply lucky or something else?!
For me with Defy+ the maximal battery level with Epsylon3's ICS could be reached is 91%

i am very new to all this, jus rooted my phone, installed CM9, CM9-NIGHTLY-120428-Defy+ on my defy plus , red lense, with boot loader 7. im having battery issues , it stays on 82 % and doesnt get charged more than that and drains very easily. where do i get my hands on the battery fix?? the link to drop box is not working, says the acc is disabled, and can i flash this battery fix irrespective of the nightly version?? pls help!!
Battery fix is not for your phone. You have a Defy+ (MB526) and this fix is for MB525 - regular Defy with red lense. Find my tutorial for Quarx's Defy/Defy+ CM9 builds and flash the latest build. The one you are using is pretty old

Try MS2G (by Walter79)
It's definitely your battery problem. It's capacity might have reduced over time.
However you can try what is explained in this thread

Clearing RAM may not help, considering deep sleep works. (Assuming OP's information is correct.

Hello, couple of questions to ask.
1) Did you try anything to fix your phone before posting here?
2) Try flashing another ROM/kernel or a later version.
3) Wipe cache/dalvik.
4) Clean reinstall your ROM/kernel.
N7105 rocking AOSB with AGNi kernel,
Click "Thanks" if I was of any help!
Try use Stock ROM, or buy a new original battery
Perhaps your battery is damaged.

3.Put a stock firmware with odin....
I think no deep sleep is happening ...i cant use wakelock detector because is not rooted. Any aternative to wakelock detector for non rooted devices ?

Root it again and flash a great(SkyHigh) kernel Thats not so hard to do it instead of waiting such a basic advance. Bug or sth like that prevents the device to go 'deep sleep' Good luck~
With stock kernel it will drain the battery ?
Because i know that with a custom kernel will work.

Yes, with stock kernel, there is too much drainage due to not deep sleeping or/and another reason. I have shocked when i realised that(second day after owned) then immediately flashed a kernel. Now ok.

That occurs for some note fives too. Weird, never faced it with other brands. This is the awkward samsung phone ever bought since galaxy s3. Customized and became kool
Im using Audax rom v6.1 , includes fantastic audio mods, air commands, customizable other things. Just great deal for me. If you need advices about kernel, see them in our thread. Thanks.

Not just for battery, for all. Check the various synapse options. But I prefer you to try all others(kernel, rom) if you can.
Same here flashed new kernel fixed it
