Has anyone else noticed so basically im playing around with my phone as we speak but I have noticed that you cant really use lockscreen widgets when you have a pattern lock on the phone. I just find this weird because I am able to do this on stock 4.2. I also noticed that dashclock widget wont pick up my text messages and i cant set it as my default lockscreen widget and i also cant make the default lockscreen text notfication go away.
Guess im the only one who noticed this lol
I got dash clock set as my primary lock screen widget. It took a little fiddling.

May I ask how you did this? and also are you able to use it while having a pattern lock?
I will have to try the pattern lock. When I first got dashclock active it was on another lockscreen so I just dragged it over to the main one.
I am trying to figure out how to set the notifications to be expanded as default instead of having to swipe them down.

I see. And are you able to disable text notifictions on the lockscreen? I am thinking that text arent popping up with dashclock because there is already a separate widget on the lockscreen that is displaying it.
Does not work with pin lock or pattern lock. I suspect pattern doesn't work because it uses the pin method as a fallback. I did get it to popup an informational message one time that said something like can't edit screen in this security mode.

I haven't found a way to disable text notifications, but I did notice they pop up on a secondary lock screen and if I swipe back to the left(which is my home lock screen) dashclock is there.

Ya I noticed that also. Do text appear in the dashclock widget also ? I have that option enabled but for some reason it wont show. Still sucks that you cant have dashclock in use while having a pattern lock but oh well nothing you can do about it.
According to the developer this is an android limitation...but I did see someone mention an AOKP rom had an option to override this.

My wife had this same complaint on her Note 2. One solution that works really well is to set a pin or pattern lock, then use WidgetLocker as the lockscreen.

Yes, it got something to do with homehelper.
Go to advanced settings/homehelper/ and check the boxes for 'Homehelper Block Home & Block Home In Other Apps'.
That did the trick for me.

Same but I want something which works with Samsung's music player's lockscreen widget.
Where I don't need to unlock phone to change tracks, pause /play etc.
Anyone got any ideas???
You can change the background under Settings > Display > Screen display > Lock screen > Wallpaper

WidgetLocker has full widget capabilities. As long as it's a standard widget that can be added through the widget menu, you should be fine to add it to the WidgetLocker screen.

Extended Controls. Market search it. It is the best one you could ever imagine. It does cost, but I bought it (and I am one cheap-skate! ) Great app. Allows you to easily make the powercontrol widget, with a number of themes, or icon packs. Very useful app.
I remember when I bought it, there are a number of different apps that do the same thing. But this one just looked the best at the time, so have a quick read of the info on each app.
As the title says, I want to remove the message preview widget on the lockscreen. If i turn ON the message preview (under Messages->Settings->Preview message) i get the message widget showing the sender and the message text, if i turn the preview off i still get the message widget but this time it just shows the sender as "Messaging" and the message text as "New message".
I have attached 2 screenshots showing both screens.
I have tried with the "Multiple widgets" option turned on and off with the same result.
However if i completely turn message notifications off (Messages->Settings->Notifications), it goes away, but then i dont get any notifications of messages.
Is there any way to just turn off that lockscreen widget but still have the normal notifications like the S2 and S3?
Thanks in advance
Bump !!
I desperately want to know the answer to this. What's the point of lock screen widgets like dashclock etc if the horrible TW notifications take priority and appear over the top !
Anyone found the answer to this ?
Bump this is a rather stupid feature. I want to be able to read my preview n notifications without it going on lockscreen

In the messaging app if you go to settings and scroll down, just untick "preview message"? You won't get previews on lockscreen or status bar BUT you should still get normal notifications in status bar.

As i said if i untick that option, it just displays generic text on the lockscreen widget, as shown in my screenshot. I don't want the lockscreen widget to be displayed at all, but still keep normal notifications for messages.
This is a lockscreen widget created by Samsung.

I tried that also, it doesnt work. It only works for lockscreen widgets you added manually, like music player etc.
I see missed calls also appear in the annoying widget, and its location is to the right of the main lockscreen, all manually added lockscreens are to the left of the main lockscreen.

I think i've exhausted all options to get rid of it, our only hope is that Samsung allows us the option to disable it on their next firmware.
Use a different lock screen.......

Bump. Would love to know how to disable the damn thing.
I've set up Dash Clock to replace the stock lockscreen widget, but every time I get a message or a missed call it reverts back to the ugly default Samsung widget.
I suspect that an update will fix it. It looks as if it was unfinished.

Sorry to bump this but I was searching for this issue...well, the music app displaying on the lock screen issue to be exact.
Even when I end the app through the task manager and the clearing of ram memory it will still show up for a good 5 or 10 minutes on my lock screen, sometimes sporadically. It's annoying and incredibly ugly (to me). I've reset my phone twice thinking maybe there was an issue I caused for it to still show up even when not in use.
Hopefully Samsung allows us to keep the music player from showing on the lock screen. And yes, I know I can use a 3rd party app but I prefer the stock, other than this issue.

Bump.
Would also really like to know the answer to this. I've got Dash Clock set up to do everything, but the ugly TW widget keeps taking over, seems kind of pointless.
I found an apk in the /system/app/ directory called NotificationWidget.apk which seemed promising, but after deleting it the TW widget is still there. Surely they wouldn't have baked it right into the framework?
When I get a text, I noticed neither the Notification window nor the lockscreen will say whom it is from.
If you are in the notification panel you can click the notification and it will take you to the SMS app where you can see who sent the message, but if you click on it in the lockscreen all you get is an empty pop-up window in the newly-created lockscreen page.
Is everyone else experiencing this?
Neat new feature, the lockscreen pages, but I think the interaction with SMS messages is a miss... perhaps they released it before testing that.

Try swiping within thr box (as it says) to open messages. It is so you dont accidentally 'read' the message in your pocket.

How this works is when you get a text. Click on the text on the lock screen. A transparent box opens. Whem that box opens swipe your finger in that box. It will take you directly to the text from that person to respond. It works as its intended.

Preview in Notification but NOT Lock Screen
So I like seeing the SMS preview (name and first line of text) in my notification bar pull down, but not on the lock screen. That's just kinda weird to me, they should be separate. I don't want anyone to preview my messages whyile my phone is password or pattern locked.
Anyone have a clue how to configure this???
Hello fellow G2-Users,
One thing that bothers me with this great phone is the lack to customize the stock lockscreen. For example display calendar and weather, changing the clock etc. I know there is WidgetLocker and other apps but i want to keep the great unlocking animation from the stock lockscreen and of course knockoff from lockscreen.
Who else wants this?
Who can make this possible?

Thx for your suggestion!! iam aware of that and it is also avaible without PIN security. But i want to see my next appointment and weather on the main lockscreen and change the (ugly) stock clock.
Try "Android Weather" app. It has the features you mention, you can make the widget transparent if you want, and it can be added to the lockscreen.

So, I was looking for a while how to remove the wallpaper on the lockscreen to match the one I have on my homescreen automatically. Some apps that apply wallpaper don't give you the option to select to change the lock screen, and the only way is to go through the touchwiz system wallpaper chooser, and it will prompt. Otherwise, I might have found a solution??
The trick is very simple, head over to the galaxy store and install good lock, then from the good lock settings uninstall it, and it will remove the lock screen wallpaper and it will match your homescreen if you change your wallpaper a lot. I also found if you changed the theme, you'd have to re-do the process over again. Make sure to select your favorite theme first before you do this.
Did anyone find a simpler solution? Please share if you have one!

What I did was took a picture of the wall with my phone flat up against it in low-light with my screen darkened. Then I edit picture in gallery (darkness down, contrast down). I did that twice then saved it as a perfectly black picture then I set my wallpaper (home screen and lock screen), using TouchWiz.
Thanks for the tip. Now my live wallpaper is also now on my lock screen.

Good find,
Thanks!
Why doesn't this work for me?! I want my magic fluids lock screen!!!!!
Works great, thank you. Nice to have again live wallpaper on lock screen.
Currently "good lock" app is not available on Galaxy store, but it is available here:
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsun...lease/good-lock-24-0-12-android-apk-download/
Don't try other apps with the same name from Google play because it will not work.
There is also a way to do it. Download and set a live wallpaper as background on both desktop+lockscreen. Then unistall the lwp. There, both desktop+lockscreen should have a blank (black) background. Then when using an app like QuickPic that doesn't give an option to set wallpapers in both desktop+lockscreen, becouse all are blank, setting only desktop wall then lockscreen will also have the same (because it is transparent now)
Maybe some developer could make an app that removes the background wall from both desktop+lockscreen, that way it whould be much easier to do it.
