Not sure if this is the right place to post or not.
I just purcahsed a new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Set it up and noticed the Android Market Icon was still there??? Went to download some apps and it prompted me to download Playstore. After Playstore was downloaded imediatly started freezing up and forcing close. Uninstalled, re-booted, reinstalled again and same problem. Unistalled, did master reset, did another initial set-up, went to Playstore and same problem. Wasted an hour of my life on the phone with T-mobile customer care and tech support then wasted another 35 minutes with Samsung tech support with no positive outcome. So this moring I turn to the internet and the real experts. Doing a quick google search I see that in the past week or two there have been a huge influx of Playstore complaints that sound similar to mine and it appears they are not device or carrier specific. Has Google come out an said there is a problem? Anyone else on here having any issues? FYI, I did confirm that I am running the most recent updates.
I checked and I do have the most recent system update on my device. I am not a "geek" but have been using Android devices since before they were availabel to the public and this Samsung is my 6th Android device so I am not a newb, that being said I am ready to throw my new Tab through a wall because I can usually work my way through glitches and get them corrected on my own. I was using a crappy old Viewsonic G-Pad before this, I thought I was upgrading but thet old rooted G-Pad is far better than this garbage.
Thanks in advance.
so are you saying you are on android version 4.0.4? that version should have come with the "play store".
I haven't had any issues myself, but you can try going into settings-applications, and then select the market/play store and clear data and cache. You can also uninstall updates if it still acts up.

Yes, it is version 4.0.4 yet it has an Android Market icon not a play store icon, I was very suprised when I saw that icon, I have not seen it in months on my other devices, i thought it was a thing of the past. Once I go into android market and try to install an app it then tells me I need to upgrade to Play Store, I click continue, download play store and that is when all hell breaks lose. Once I unistall the Play Store update it runs fine until I try to download another app through the market.
Not sure if this could help, but have you tried, instead of the factory reset, clearing data on Play Store and Google Services Framework, restarting and trying again? Ran into some Play Store trouble this past week and this seemed to solve it
I am having the same problem. I just got this 10.1 t-mobile tablet. I can't do anything because it is constantly popping up saying play store has stopped unexpectedly. I have uninstalled the update, cleared the data and cache. Nothing is working. I am essentially dead in the water as this pops every 30 seconds.
Saw the same problem on my friend tab
My only solution was to root and put cm9 on it. Works great now.

My Nexus 4 is not showing up as an owned device under My Orders and Settings -> Settings in the Google Play store. Has anyone else experienced this? I was trying to push an app to my phone remotely and noticed my Nexus 4 wasn't listed.
I noticed that too earlier
Yes, it is showing up in my devices list.
Same here. No problems with all three of my android devices. They're all listed and remote install works fine.

It took mine about 24 hours to sow up as a recognized device after first turning it on.
Mine shows up too on the Devices list.
Anyways, thanks for reminding me about this. Just set the Device name as "OG Limbo Level 3 Nexus 4".
Mine was showing up, but now it's disappeared and I can't use the web interface to send apps to it.
I can use the Store on the device just fine.
It's rooted, but I don't have a custom ROM or anything.
Any ideas, before I do a hard reset?
If you tried the 'Google Framework Services' trick to force the 4.2.2 update it can cause your device to no longer appear in devices on the Play store. I had the same issue with my N7 & all I did to resolve it was download an app (any app) by using the Play store app on my N7, a few hours later it reappeared.
Hope this helps.

Hah! It's been missing for days, and I have downloaded apps to try and get it back, to no avail.
I did the Framework Services trick again and actually got the update. Then installed an app from the device and lo and behold... it's re-appeared.
Cheers!
I tried the Framework Services trick and now my Nexus 4 isn't showing up when trying to install an app from the Play Store. Anyone have a quick fix? thanks!

I've downloaded many apps from the device itself during the past 24 hours with no problem.
Yet it's still not showing up as one of my devices on the website...
It should only show up on that list if you have actually set-up the 'wallet' app on the device.

Updated my Nexus 4 from 4.2.2. to 4.3 earlier today (OTA, nothing special)
Now it's no longer in my devices list on the Play Store website...
I was having the same issue yesterday. Couldn't download anything online, but had no issues downloading anything from my device. It seems to have been fixed now though. I thought it might have been the fact that I only had the phone for 3 days now and it just took a day or 2 to register with Google once it was activated.

Mine is doing this now (as I mentioned in another thread)
Completely stock, no issues accessing the play store on the device. No issues before the 4.3 OTA upgrade.
Have done factory reset but still no change.
Yep, shows up fine for me
12 hours after a factory reset, still no device listed.
Being able to search for things to install at work and have them installed at home was the best benefit of Android over iOS (for me)
After trying so many things, "removing and re adding google account", "clearing google services framework", etc...
IT FINALLY WORKED!!!
Here's what I did
1) Uninstalled updates to Play store and Play services
2) Opened the "Google Settings" app in the app drawer and clicked on Android Device Manager. Unchecked and rechecked "remotely locate this device" and checked "allow remote factory reset"
3) Refreshed the play store site on chrome on PC and voila!
Hi,
I'm a newbie to Android. Got my Nexus 4 few weeks ago and am very pleased with it so far (except for the BT Audio problem).
I have many applications marked with "auto update" enabled.
Quite frequently, I get the "Updated Successfully" notification, when apps are updated.
... but how do I find out what's changed?
When an app is not updated automatically, I can see it in the play store, and the release notes are usually informative enough to show what's new. But when the app is automatically updated, there's no easy way to see those notes.
Any idea as to what can be done?
Or am I doomed to search for 'facebook' on the play store, whenever it's updated, just to search for the release notes there?
You can still go to the play store and view whats new in the current version of any particular app, even if it has already been updated on your device.
Thanks for the response.
Sure, but there's no way to get there easily.
If you click the "updated successfully" notification, the app loads.
If you long-click it, you get the "play store" app info, not the app that was updated.
The only way is to actively search for the app in the play store, that's a tedious process, especially if you have multiple apps updated.
If you don't mark apps to be auto updated, you can load the play store, see a list of the apps that need updating, and each click will show you what's new... it's actually easier.
Or am I missing something?
Push the menu button in the play store, and then my apps. All of your apps magically appear for you to click and see the release notes.

Got it!
Thanks!
I updated to OTA 4.3 a couple of days ago, having cleared Google Services Framework to trigger it. (N4 is totally stock BTW)
Seemingly this has the side effect of flushing the N4 from the My Devices list at Google play https://play.google.com/settings?hl=en
After the update I had to Remove my Google Acc from the N4 and log back into it again to get the play store functioning again. Over twenty four hours later and still no sign of my N4 back in My Devices though.
Q. Will my N4 eventually return to the My Devices list spontaneously, or is there something else I must do, to have this happen?
Have you tried to install an app from google play on your N4 ? Just my guess, maybe that would "tell" google that you've got a new device. I could be wrong though...

Yes I have. I can successfully install apps from Play on the N4. I cannot of course from the PC because my N4 is not listed any more ;-(
Still no sign of my N4 in the same google account when accessed from a web browser on my desktop. In there I can see my Nexus 1, My Xoom and old HTC desire . But no N4.

I have the same problem, after I cleared Google Services Framework, both my nexus 7 and nexus 4 disappeard from the "My Devices" list at Google play, but after logging back, only my nexus 7 returned to the "My Devices" list at Google play.I tried to install apps in my nexus 4,but still no sign of my nexus 4 in the "My Devices" list
Good to see I am not Robinson Crusoe at least.
Seems it is an artifact of clearing Google Services Framework on the N4 only. Wonder why it is only seemingly effecting the N4 and when and if it will sort itself out. Perhaps after the individual device number is due for its OTA in the rollout.
I have the same issue, went to download something from the play store via the desktop (easier to search and read about the app) and I don't have any devices listed. I did clear the Framework to try and force the update but that did not work
Can still download from the play store on the device

As mentioned in post #1 this does not fix the problem. If only it did the issue would not exist.
From time to time I see the following dialog on my N4...
"Unfortunately the process com.google.android.gsf.login has stopped."
I guess this is related somehow. Any other suggestions (other than hard reset)?
Well, rather than removing my account, I did a factory reset on phone,
Booted with 4.3 already installed and after several hours of my first app install via my phone, I still don't have a device when looking via my Chrome on the desktop.
Will check in the morning (approx 12 hours) and see what happens.
I've had the same issue for a few days now, so I decided to use Market Helper (usually used to fake your device model) to tell the store that I have a nexus 4 (which it is). This placed it back into the play store instantly.
It's strange as my phone (fresh install of 4.3 using the Google images) appears fine in Google Play on my PC

In my case I was on 4.3, decided to root the device, so backed it up and then put 4.3 on. Then I restored the backup I had. It could be the restore that caused me issues rather than 4.3...
Still no luck for me ... Been more than 12 hours since I did a fresh install and have used the play store many times on the phone and my device does not appear. Rather annoying
Seems this issue is not going to get fixed any time soon. After several days no sign of my N4 with 4.3 re-appearing in Google Play. I dont think it will get fixed until Google get their Sh1t together and fix it their side.
Managed to log a support case with Google Play last night, the person I spoke said she had seen the issue as well but 4.3 solved for her.

That doesn't sound very promising. Are they going to get back to you with a fix any time soon?
Wonder if it would help if more of us log the same fault and cross reference your support case number. So they can see it is not isolated.

Not just N4 it's my N7 MIA
Found this thread when looking for almost the same problem. For me it's my Nexus 7 that is AWOL after the 4.3 OTA update. My Nexus 4 is still there.
My Nexus 4 received the update first, and was still there after the update as I used the play site to find and install the Privacy manager app.
A few days later my Nexus 7 updated, and it is now missing from My Devices and the symptoms seem to be the same as everyone here is reporting with their N4.
So it seems that it's not just the N4 that is affected.
Reply from Google - is your phone rooted?
My reply - no
Back to waiting.

soo..I just got an unusual notification on my 2019 fire hd10...that the play services wont run until updated? I didn't catch the entire message.
I went into the play store and the notification disappeared.
help?
I had the same thing. I cleared the notification and so far it hasn't appeared again. Everything still works.
Others have reported it, and the popular theory is that it's a harmless bug in the latest version of Google Play Services.

Playstore is not a trusted app
Always make installable copies of all your apps and current updates. The less Playstore the better... it never runs on my 10+ unless I need it.

....currently getting groomed by my cat, apparently I need it?
anywho..got the notification AGAIN today, and this time I was actually able to initiate an update.
fortuitous given my tablet just updated the OS today.
I'm seeing this as well on my Fire HD 8 (2020), and it's very concerning.
I've also uninstalled Google Play Services and reinstalled the latest version of Google Play Services from APKStore (you cannot do an in-place upgrade, there's only a "deactivate" button which doesn't work).
The error goes away temporarily, but eventually returns a week or so later.
And we're not alone -- hundreds of complaints on this issue in the Reviews section of Google Play Services on the Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gms&hl=en_US&gl=US
Is this just a temporary bug? Or is it an indication that the little "secret" of sideloading Google Play Store is over, at least if you want to use your Fire to play games requiring Google Play? Wonder if Google and Amazon are finally saying "no more?" I hope not.
...I think the fact most of us are running the play store in manual update only mode is the problem. it cant auto update the play services, and thus coughs up this error?

Playstore will let you know when you go to Playstore if it needs updating. I've package block and run Playwhore on manual update only for over 1.5 years with no problem.
All it's parent apps need to be running at boot up ie Google play Services. You may need to delete and recreate your Google account if it really goes off the rails. Reboot, reboot, reboot...

it was a thought, that said after I was FINALLY presented the option to update the service its not done it again.
also..I've owned FOUR samsung tablets over the years and every single last one of them, without fail, whenever playstore has had an update, I've had to manually initiate the update, it patently REFUSES to do so on its own, and thats AFTER running every troubleshooting known to man AND consulting samsung support.

I rarely use Playstore. Updates there are set to wifi only, and wifi is always disabled.
Samsung tech support is useless.
Try googling the error codes.
I use ApkExport to make installable copies of my apps so on a reload no Playstore needed.
You can also use those copies to load other devices... if you want.
I was able to go into the play store and tap on 'update' on the play services.
-shrugs- it worked, thats all I cared about.
Play Store is telling me 21.30.16 is the latest version of Google Play Services and I'm up to date. APK Mirror is showing newer versions, though. Weird.
