Ignore the first one as that is wifi..
Battery life, seems good to me so far, varies on each build of the custom ROM, as in gets better each time. I get a full day easily.

The second one is WiFi quick.
Once coverage spreads and the price drops by at least 50% I'll have some 4G but until then? Thanks to all the early adopters :good:

yeah it is stupid have 4g now on EE..

Bro, could you please let this be a global 4G LTE thread? It would be nice to see how everyone speed differ around the world right? Many people have global devices that can work on many different countries LTE network.
Anyways, if you choose to do so please change the thread title
Oh, global 3G speed tests wouldn't be bad either.
Thanks in advance

Here is my 4G results using my HTC One. I'm about 2-3 miles from Preston City Centre so these are good speeds tbh, there is also no mast that I know of in the immediate area

I've been really impressed with speeds across north west. See shots below. I'm in between Preston & Blackpool still awaiting official 4g swith on but can still get decent speeds.

Hi to the Nexus S users. I got a brand new Nexus S 4g this past Saturday coming from a DINC. I'm running CM7 stable. Is anyone having signal issues/slow 3g speeds by the way?

Can't say for sure since I have a Tmo NS but having had Sprint I can tell you my wife and I had those issues with all Sprint phones. Their 3g speeds SUCK.
Make sure you have ke5 or ke1 radio
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
How do I switch radios and which should I use? I want faster 3g speeds lol actually what I want is a lower, stable ping lol
sent from my Touchwiz'd Nexus S 4g
Sprint is upgrading yhe network so it might go up and down for awhile
If you have rom manager look under peters section he has the radio updates in his downloads

Having the correct radio will give you better reception, which will give you a more reliable connection. As a result you may see increased speeds. Keyword is may. You can decrease your ping by setting a local server ip your phone first connects to. Search for lowering pings. For radios, flash using fastboot. Please be sure to read up on radio flashing as a mistake could be catastrophic. Good luck

I am also new to the NS4G, having switched from evo 4g. Sprint 3G has always sucked the big one and I don't notice any appreciable difference between nexus and evo speeds.
The phone reception IS quite a bit weaker than the Evo however.

h is hspa, its high speed 3g. dont mistake it for tmobiles hspa+(which is even faster 3g, tmo calls it 4g). its normal, thats what you should be seeing if you have hspa in your area.

Welcome to the Nexus S community! You'll love the phone, believe me
As for the "H" it actually stands for HSDPA (which is better than 3G in the term of speed). So basicly its a good thing when your phone shows "H" all the time
ohh I see. well its a freaking great phone!!! haha

hey guys, im planning to stay on cyber. what kernel has most functions out there that will increase wifi range? and battery life?
what cpu settings are good for this? using nsettings
Wi-Fi is more dependent on the radio I believe. I haven't really toyed with CPU speeds on my phone as it's pretty snappy with the stock settings. There are numerous kernels available to use. Download a few and have at it.

What does "in their real life" mean? Correct me if im wrong but the link to that thread does have real people doing real testing,...real? They're not just some no life freak sitting inside of a cell tower testing right? I too read that thread and wanted to confirm what I read was not falsifying information. TIA

You are not reading my original post. I never said anything about people not being real or anyone falsifying information. I am curious to see the actual speed screenshot of people in their lives because like i said, i never used HSPA before. The link contains great infos but they are apart from speed of HSPA which is the main focus here.

CM9 - T-Mobile UK - Speedtest

Hello all
just wondering if any of you guys use CM9/T-Mobile UK and also what kind of speeds you currently getting because mine are below 1mbps download and less than 0.5mbps upload :/
Truely shocking to say they are the first to bring out 4G!
Baseband Version : i9300BWLH1
Any help appreciated
Also if anyone on original T-mobile firmware can you advise of the default modem
Thank you
Thanks for the reply :/

I'm running stock and T-Mobile UK and I get about 3meg down and 1meg up on 3g and H+.
I don't think their 4g will speed up the 3g but you're right, yours should be faster depending on your connection.

This is using t-mobile uk on hspda±

EE who will be running the 4G network is the company who own both Orange and T-Mobile. the I-9300 isn't LTE compatible so it's not worth mentioning that, as for your low speed contact customer services and ask for the iPhone data speed cap remover to be added to your account, you'll need to speak to technical, I had it added to my Orange account and speeds went from 500kb to 7000kb.
Im the same. Running stock rom Tmobile uk hspda.
Was actually pretty surprised i was getting that amount. I only get 2mb max with o2 broadband in the house!

Will let you all know how I get on.

Yeah, Although do you know T-Mobile isnt 4G. The company will merge into EE with Orange but at the moment EE is the 4G network in the UK. The other networks will follow after the auction next year!
Hope this helps

how fast is GPRS?

So on att I've always seen G flash but it never has ever worked except with T-Mobile but today while traveling in Tennessee I had G and it worked and was kind of speedy here are screenshots

That isn't right. It should be 56k speeds. Edge isn't that fast.

Sounds like a old outdated cell tower for AT&T .. at&t is doing a massive upgrade nationwide , gprs is slow compared to cdma .. its really 2g and I'm surprised you even got those speeds..
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
I am very surprised. I have to use GPRS at work because I don't get any 3G signal and its not fast at all
GPRS is not EDGE. For all intents and purposes, they might as well be since they're both sloooooooow. EDGE is defined as 2.5 G which is a marketing ploy to differentiate molasses in Miami (EDGE) and molasses in Alaska (GPRS).
I tried to listen to 48 kbps radio stream and it was not fast enough.. had to switch to 3g
How do you force GPRS? I know you can force 3G and edge.

Get an iPhone 2G. Just kidding. I know that Windows Mobile, webOS and the Androids I've had all have a "network selection" tab in cellular settings. Uncheck "automatic network selection" and wait for the phone to show you options. Usually you'll get an operator's 2G or 3G option and you select which one you want. Windows Phone (post-Mango) has an actual 3G toggle. Other than battery saving I can't understand why you'd want 2G. Data consumption remains the same, just slower. If you're looking to put your browser on a diet, just install Opera Mini and enjoy compressed data and faster browsing speeds.
I have the note II. Only 3G and edge and lte I can't do GPRS.
