1. if flashing two different roms, you have to wipe data. if you dont wipe, then youll get a bootloop.
2. bad download of a rom/kernel.
3. the theme/mod isnt compatible or a bad download.
4. rarely, stuff corrupts.
5. root applications with stuff thats not compatible with your rom/kernel.

Thank you for the reply...
I know because of compatibility i am getting the boot loop when i am using the root application....
My question is how to debug or find out where it went wrong... what made that application is not compatible with my ROM/Kernel....

watching a log cat via adb while the device is forced into one of these "bootloops". maybe even a dmseg. btw, are you sure that you have root? can you describe a situation, what you were doing with what root app, in detail how a "bootloop" happens? can you describe the bootloop and how you recover from one?

those options probably arent compatible due to android version, phone model, or rom(if works on another rom). there could be filesystem differences that make things incompatible. not all hacks/mods work on all devices. this all would cause bootloops, the way you describe it. have someone else with a nexus 4 confirm if they work or cause bootloops.

I already spoke with the developer regrading these boot loop problems... he has provided some solutions for it...
I have try those workarounds and lets see whether it fixes the problem or not....

Booting into clockwork recovery

I don't know how I did it, but everyone else is trying to boot into Clockwork Recovery mode successfully...and the whole pull the battery mode doesn't work 100% of the time...buuuut...I CANT STOP!
I can't stop booting into Clockwork. Every time I turn my phone on, it boots into the Clockwork Recovery, without fault. I've rebooted almost 30 times now and every time its done the same thing. Once it reboots into recovery, it will allow me to reboot the phone and then it boots normally. I really want to fix it, its annoying. The phone still works without any issues, its just really annoying that I have to sit there and watch it boot up to get it to the actual phone.
I don't want to unroot and start over with it all because I've made so many small changes to the phone and made it my own.
Sooo, pleeeeeeeeeease anyone with any info or fixes; let me know!
Mine did that too so I flashed the SBF and started over from scratch. I am afraid to try the D2 Bootstrap again for that reason. For now I can live with it. Did you find a fix yet?
How does this work?
When your device boots up, there is a init.rc script in your boot image that runs various components found in /system. The Droid X recovery bootstrap mimics the "logwrapper" binary. The hijacker then looks for "/data/.recovery_mode", and if it finds it, it unmounts /system to prevent android from starting. It then starts up recovery instead.
That's from Koush's site. Have you tried to delete the .recover_mode file if it clears it up? If you do try may you please post back?
Worked for me! Thanks for that!
Apparently it only happens randomly to some people. My roommate has a Droid2 and his never did it....weird.

Glad it worked. It happened to me too and I just used the sbf file to restore everything. Did you use any mount adb commands before you had that problem?
To be honest I have no idea, I've had android phones for a while so I was just flying through the commands and don't remember what was typed
Unable to remove "ClockworkMod Recovery"
That's from Koush's site. Have you tried to delete the .recover_mode file if it clears it up? If you do try may you please post back?
So, I looked throughout my sd card, and have been unable to find any ".recover_mode" file.. I still get the ClockworkMod Recover screen EVERY time I reboot my device.. I have rooted and unrooted multiple times to try and figure out this problem, as well as searched through this website for answers.. I am not finding any.. HELP!?
Ultimately, I would like to just restore my phone to factory so I can pass it on to a friend..
Thanks in advance for everyone's help!

Stuck at google logo, recovery mode doesn't work?

I seem to have messed up the process. I successfully unlocked and rooted my Nexus 7 but during wipe process using JROM flasher something didn't go right and now I'm stuck at the google logo screen forever. I can boot into fast recovery mode but that's about it. I can't do anything.
I've had this done before on my nexus phone but it seems I managed to f it up this time.
I thought I had a rom zip file copied on to the Nexus 7 but it doesn't show in the menu. Now I'm stuck at the logo screen not having access to any roms to install. How do I reset all of this to factory? I've already checked most of the threads regarding this and haven't been able to find a solution yet.

before you do anything, use your recovery to see if the rom zip is located in /data/media/0/. if its there, flash it from that location.
Are you able to boot into recovery?
If yes, it could be as simple as plugging your tablet into the computer and mounting the usb, drag and drop the rom, and flash it without using a toolkit (only recovery). I'm not familiar with jrom flasher, but i will say the more variables there are, the more chance of a problem.
If no, you're best off running the stock factory image through your computer, found here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#nakasi. I had your problem at one point, and could not even boot into recovery. After trying to install cwm through adb (which failed), and a number of toolkits, the factory image was what brought my nexus back to life.
I remember reading that sometimes a wipe can delete your recovery as well as your system (and whatever else you have on your n7), although i dont know if that was ever fixed, as i got my tab replaced a month or two ago and havent rooted it again yet. There was some type of command or .zip or something that should be used to keep recovery after wipes. When i expirienced problems such as yours, it was also from a bad wipe from a toolkit. Using just the recovery afterwards, i never expirienced any issues, even without the recovery fix.
I would definitely try simms suggestion first if you can access recovery. If that fails, try one of the above processes.
PS, even if you can access recovery, if at this point you just want to go completely stock, the factory image will work regardless.
cheers
Thanks for the help guys, I've been struggling for the past 3~4 hours but I found a solution.
What I did was use JROMFlasher and upload a rom zip to the sdcard directly and go from there.

[Q] Change Boot Animation

Ok, I'm still a noob when it comes to Android.
I have a rooted Sprint S4 on the OTA MJA update and TWRP Recovery 2.6.3.0.
I want to know how to get ROM Toolbox to perform the randomly selected boot animations I have downloaded from ROM Toolbox application itself.
What do I need to do get the random boot animations to work when the phone reboots because it is still showing the same Samsung/Sprint boot animations?
Cookbook instructions please.
TIA
I thought xda was supposed to be the place to go for help, even for noobs, guess I was wrong...not a single reply. :'(

XDA favors those who search. It's NOT a support/help site. Though most go out of their way to help those that help themselves.
Okay </preach>
So you can try starting here. This enabled me to use my cutom boot animation zips. One thing to make sure is that you have the right screen size on any images (1080 1920) you are planning on using for this device - wrong screen size can send you into a bootloop that requires a nandroid restore.
And here.
With the stock (Odexed) ROMs it is often more difficult to use custom boot animations they might not always work (or you'll have to delete the qmg files first)

Seems I am getting farther down the rabbit hole, now running TriForceROM 5.0 and that has proved to have an improved battery life.

You may need the ktoonsez kernel from the TF5.0 aroma. Then download the boot animation you want from your Rom Manager then install through your recovery, wipe cache and dalvik and fix permissions, reboot.
Haven't done this yet on TF5.0 but that's exactly how I did it on the last release. Went with the golden skull and bones. Not sure if you can get it to toss up a random one on each reboot though on the S4. Think RM was focused on a different set of phones altogether so maybe all the options in it won't play nice with the S4, just thinking out loud.
Or do what leaderbuilder said
I'm still trying to make my own, have to make time though. A lot of it.

Can´t boot nexus 4- blue screen problem

Hello fellow internet users, I've been trying to resolve a problem I've been having with my Nexus 4 device, but given that I failed, I came here hoping somebody here could help me.
Recently I wanted to update CM Mod on my device (to the latest version supporting Android 4.3), but little did I know that it'd replace my recovery program from TWRP to ClockwordMod. Afterwards I proceeded to install Franco Kernel (r. 193) since from what I read it should have been compatible with my recently downloaded version of CM. After I flashed it, all the tints of blue on my screen turned into tints of orange/yellow (and vice versa). Afterwards I tried to fix it with flashing one of the supposedly stock kernels I found on the internet, however all it achieved was to make it unable for my phone to boot - now when I turn it on in normal mode all I see is a weird blue screen with intermittently flashing pink squares that create a checkered pattern. I tried to access the android root kit to unroot the phone and bring back the default kernel + rom, but so far I've been unable to access my phone from my PC. And in case you wonder, yes, I was stupid enough to not store any backups on the internal storage.
I hope there is a work around it, since I really need my phone to work , thanks in advance to whoever can provide me with some sound advice.

It sounds you had flashed a wrong version of kernel for JWR and JSS. If you can boot into recovery, then just download another ROM and save it to your phone. Wipe factory reset and then flash the new ROM.

Were you able to connect your phone to your PC prior to flashing the CM mod? If yes, then you can mount it while in recovery. If no, then I suggest you might want to spend some time reading the materials which software that you will need in order to connect your phone to your PC.

Yes, the problem is that I did all the previous operations on another computer (on which nexus usb drivers were installed too), which I'll have access to in around 10 days. I was simply curious whether it is possible to find a workaround the fact that the computer I'm using currently doesn't recognise my device/can't install drivers, regardless of the mode my phone is in (bootloader, recovery or normal).

You'll have to install drivers manually.
Your problem is easily fixed. You don't need to wipe anything; that would be unnecessary. All you have to do is flash your ROM again. You can't use custom kernels with cm unless they are made specifically for it.

[Q] "Bootloop" Nexus 7

I panicked and probably did something quite stupid...
So I tried to flash the new cyanogenmod rom to have a taste of kit kat, but then I had the status 7 error.
This never occurred to me before, I didn't keep a backup to fall back onto... ( yes, I am an idiot, I learned my lesson, the hard way)
Than the device won't boot, it shows the Google logo twice, and then goes into the clockwork mod, where you choose to flash roms
and I am stuck.
I tried Nexus Root Toolkit, doesn't help because my device is not booting up, no way can it install the drivers properly...
and I think I did something more ingenious... I just tried anything on the Toolkit, and I got my rooted Nexus 7 locked...
But it's still the same, I am stuck at the clockwork mod thing just as before... Wiped whatever I can. and even formatted the sdcard and system...
Some Android Wizard out there... Please help...
If at boot you go to recovery directly... You have had to flash new version of recovery in wrong partition. You must flash it last version of recovery with "fastboot flash recovery yourrecovery.IMG" (see 'recovery' as partition to flash). Then flash boot and system partitions from factory image (in XDA have you multiples threads about it) if you want to keep your data. If not, flash factory image from usual ways (this wipes your data) and then flash recovery like I say above.
After that, try to flash CM again.
PS: I recommend TWRP instead of CWM.
Sent from my Nexus 7 (grouper) using Tapatalk.
but its more serious than that... My computer doesnt recognize the tablet because of some driver issues... I am not sure, at this moment, whether the USB debugging thing still works
i can only get to the clockwork mod page, bootloader and thats it.
I cant flash anything, I cant transfer files from the PC to tablet....
please, please help.
bump!,
Im in a similar boat. I bricked my tablet while trying to force an update. It wouldnt autoupdate (there was always an error about cant find zip file...) so I tied to install it with Skipsoft program. After 20 minutes i realize my computer has frozen....So I waited 2 hours and nada. So I had to reboot my desk top. At that time my tablet is now bricked....what do we do?
