I work in an office and they don't want us to listen with both headphones, I listen to music loud so is there an app that can disable one side or cross fade? I'm streaming from Google Music. Thanks in advance. Its a weird request I know lol it would be nice if cyanogenmod 10.1 had it already..

An engineer would tell you to just buy some 15 dollar headphones and cut one side off ...I actually have a pair where only one side works cause I pulled the wire by mistake Lol ... Don't think any ROMs come with that option

The original samsung headphones have no issues whatsoever. Its just my expensive ones like klipsch and monster that seem to pop and crack at high volune when they work flawlessly on other devices... does anyone know which headphones with the 3 buttons are compatable with the gs4. So far volume controls refuse to work on monster dna earbuds and klipsch s4i headphones. Is there a certain ohm or impedance the gs4 uses. Never had this problem with my atrix... a compatable list of 3 button headphones would be greatly appreciated.

My klipsch s4 does this too but not on my nexus 4 or HTC one. I don't notice it all the time

Count me in too. My cheap $10 headphones which work flawlessly on every other device crackle and pop on my S4. When I use my auxiliary cable in my car, I do not experience this. I'm going to try the Samsung headphones.
Appreciated. Ill post a compatable list after I find the correct impedance number. Also what about the volume up and down anyone know? I the only ones I know that work are the beats ear buds with the remote. They work flawlessly. Unfortunately I do not own a pair....

any units with impedance of under 15ohm will have issues; look up the specs on your buds or cans.
On my original Nexus 7, the sound chip is very bad, at max volume the sound isn't even medium loud on my headphones.
I use PowerAMP with bass boost and treble boost on (I listen to electro mainly.) How does the new Nexus 7 compare?
Also, can someone compare the new Nexus 7 to S III in sound quality on headphones? Mainly how long each can go? The old nexus is terrible compared to SIII.
The new sound chip is really really good. Like really good. I use similar headphones comfortabley at about 25-35% volume, Clarity is great, good DAC.
i agree as well. i like the new sound chip as i listen to trance. and to add the new speakers and layout work better as well

As stated in the thread you linked, this does not affect headphone output, only the speakers on the tablet's output so it's not entirely relevant to the OP's question.

I'm finding its close to my HTC One coming through the headphones. Won't go quite as loud and clear but it definitely has impressed me. By far better than the first gen nexus 7!
Is the sound good because it's good? Or is the sound good because of how crappy the OG nexus was? The sound is the only thing I hate. Headphones and speakers. Makes me wonder if mine is defective. Or maybe I shouldn't expect more from a budget tablet. Would love to see more opinions.

I find the sound quality through the headphone jack is just average. Kind of muddy to be honest. I thought the original nexus 7 had a better DAC than this new one. Speaker sound is of course better than the original

I take back what I said, I had the equalizer on and it made the sound poor. The old 7 doesn't sound as good as the new one.

There is a static buzz at low volume on the speakers which appear on most if not all of the new nexus 7.

Don't have it on mine, but I do have a little dust on the upper left corner.
About the topic, I use my own custom made earphones, with superb bass, with AwesomeBeats mod. Works like a charm, though ViperFX also improves sound quality, I'm comfy with AwesomeBeats because its simple. Try any audio mod(requires rooting).
The sound on the 2013 nexus 7 is really good, I mean without headphones on it, it's totally another world from the first gen nexus 7.

Yeah man...! I am not active on Desire forums, because it seems kinda old in front of my new sexi-nexi toy
On a second note, I'm working on a ROM too, so looking everywhere for inspiration...!

What devices do you have? I will do some comparisons if I have any of the same devices that you have. I have a Note 2, Evo LTE, Evo 3D, Asus Infinity, 4th gen iPod Touch, and an iPhone 4.
Just so everyone knows, the iPhone 4 was free, I'd never buy an iPhone! I just use it as an iPod (never been activated by me). I did buy the iPod Touch when it was released though......SMH......

Not exactly a work of art, but yes, the price got me on the reins
Hi guys
For some reason recently when I plug in my headphones I only get sound from one side.
Can anyone guide me on this? Most likely a hardware problem I know.
Does anyone know if I have to get a new jack port, where I could get one from?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Actually, this has happened to me quite a few times. I found it to be a problem with the headphones/earbuds instead of faulty hardware. First, my left audio would disappear, and about a month later, the right audio would follow suit. I believe it's just a problem with cheap earbuds, or at least was in my case.

Hmm I dont think its the ear buds as they work fine in every other thing. I've also tried different ones in the n7

Have you tried shining a light down the 3.5 jack hole (haha, i said jack hole!) to make sure both the small contacts are sticking out far enough to make contact with the earbuds stem?
