Guys, i am planning to try a new rom, moving away from PA.... now the PA gapps are upto date and about 175mb in size...... Im planning to move to Carbon Rom, and the gapps in carbon rom are a month old and just 99mb in size... many of the apps inside are missing which will get downloaded through play store.....
My question is that, the PA gapps are updated so can i use thoes gapps with carbon rom or will it cause some problem??

I don't think that will be a problem. I always use the same gapps no matter what rom i switch to that doesn't have gapps included.
Don't forget to make a nandroid backup before flashing.
you can update the gapps via google play market, or grab any that are missing.

The thing is, if he didn't flash Gapps, he also likely doesn't have the Google Framework files, on which the Play Store (and the rest of the Gapps) relies.

Always have to flash gapps when you change rom!

Flash GAPPS. If PlayStore still doesn't appear (had this problem with my I9100), just flash twice in a row.
CyanogenMod wipes /system and installs itself without GAPPS - you have to reflash GAPPS everytime if you're using an AOSP based ROM.

true, but if I'm not totally mistaken it should be pointed out that this definitely doesn't apply:

so as long as you don't flash a new/different ROM you don't need to flash GApps. But even with minor updates I always would recommend to do the following (at least) when flashing a new ROM or an updated version:
- format system
- wipe cache
- wipe dalvik
- flash new ROM
- flash GApps
BTW this

hasn't to do with shortcomings of CM but with the license of GApps - pretty simple: GApps is not Open Source so devs shouldn't (aren't allowed to) include them with their ROMs
I installed new jelly bean ROM of ciavo- super great
But it seams I don't have Google play
I tryed to install one, but it crash every time I start it
I checked for a solution. Other people have that problem to.
for now no solution for me
Can u help me?
10x
Did you fix this yet ?
Civs rom usually include the latest gapps so your market should work. <<<<lies
Ive just checked the op for this rom and it says this
***GAapps-jb- ...are NOT included in the rom, please download the latest here***
So did you download the latest gapps ?
If it can help, here is a link to the JB Gapps : http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
You install it via recovery like a rom (first wipe data/cache/dalvik cache then install rom then install gapps.
Just go to the goo.Im page and find the correct jellybeans gapps

Hello there,
I have a very strange problem which I can't explain at all.
My device is the N4 16GB.
I flashed the latest xylon rom a few days ago and everything was fine, but suddenly the play store completely disappeared. I haven't done anything abnormal. I thought it must be a xylon problem somehow.
Since yesterday I am on AOKP rom and again everything was finde until right now. Play store is missing again...
I have no idea what's going on.
I restored my backup which I made shortly after flashing AOKP and there the play store is still there.
Can anybody help me? Has anybody else similar expierences? How could that happen?
Thanks a lot!
Did you flash GAPPS?

Hello, my issue is that since I flashed gapps in percy's CM11 thread my Moto E is using too much RAM. I had CM11 and minimal gapps but gmail wasnt working with that package. I was getting like 500mb of free ram and now im getting 200-250MB. I disabled a lot of apps included like: play music, play games, hangouts... Just left Google Play, Youtube and Gmail. And they are constantly opened, I force close them and like 10 sec later they are opened again using a lot of RAM. Any solutions? :S
PD: Sorry for my English, I'm Spanish

If you read their descriptions it tells you which products come with it (the one I use has the playstore/framework so if I needed gmail or youtube I can download them from the playstore. I use the 87MB version or whichever it is of Pico not the universal one.
As for flashing it over Gapps I am not too sure, there was an app or something if you do a forum search I read to remove Gapps to flash another one so try searching that. I will reply later if not as limited on time right now.

Finally I formated system, cache and dalvik then flashed pico gapps. It fixed the high ram usage thx
Why flash gapps just download them from google play and use GREENIFY. That way you can save battery and ram. Worked for me. I charge my phone once in two days.

Install greenify
Dude just install greenify and the corresponding Xposed module for hibernating the system app, and then see the change
