I've got a new Nexus 7 and downloaded several different live wallpapers but can't get any of them to load. When I visit the play store it says that they are compatible with my device. I followed the directions of going to home screen and tapping until it displays the window with gallery and wallpaper but when I click on wallpaper all I get are the default wallpapers this device came with and no option for live wallpapers like all the directions I've read online indicate I should get for the live wallpaper apps I downloaded. I'm wondering does the Nexus 7 not support live wallpapers or is there some special setting I need to display live wallpapers as an option on my device? Any help would be appreciated.
Hi - have you installed the wallpapers, of just downloaded them?
are you using a custom rom that needs a gapps pack flashed also? anywho, notice the option that says live wallpapers, not wallpapers..

Yes I tried but it tells me app can't be installed. I also found the default system live wallpaper picker apk but it too gives me app can't be installed message.

No it's not a custom ROM or at least not that I know of as I just bought it new the other day at Walmart. I don't get the live wallpapers option just gallery and wallpapers options.
Do you have a LiveWallpapersPicker.apk file in the /system/app folder?

Yes that's the one I was referring to when I said I found the system default live wallpaper app but it won't install, just keeps giving unable to finish install error message. My Android version is 4.2.2 and kernel version is 3.1.10-g05b777c.
Is it in the /system/app folder? Then it is already installed. What launcher are you using?

problem solved
Got it figured out. Apparently the system default live wallpapers apk had downloaded an update that wasn't working so I just uninstalled the update and now live wallpapers apk is working.

Works on the desire however you need to uninstall the other google news and weather app first (if you have that installed). Only problem is that the text is white and I have a white background...

sorry no adb setup for screenshotting, it only takes 2 secs to install, just make sure you uninstall the old one (if applic) first.

What's the best way to install this widget over the existing one? I've tried installing using estrongs file manager as mentioned earlier, but this won't work.
I'm using a 2.1 Rom with sense (pay87s ROM)
doesn't want to work (installed ok though) on OpenDesire 4.0.10 and up (an AOSP + Cyanogenmod ROM)

If you have time, would appreciate if you mod it to make the weather icon just sprightly bigger (like 2% bigger in size) when it shows next to the news flash. I mean when I put a widget and opt "News & Weather".

Just about to try these, but can you tell me why the first steps and what happens by putting those files into the lib folder?
could I not just install the apk's on their own with a file manager?

EDIT: answered my own question... you can't install the apks on their own.. but i am getting an error message when I try and copy the two files into the lib folder, says java.io.IOException: No space left on the device! .... anyone any ideas where I'm going wrong?

not working on Froyostone v1
I have the Sense version of froyostone running so no /lib folder...but the apk's installed fine. However, only Dandelion works, the rest "force close" (have done 3 reboots) immediately when trying to preview. I tried setting it anyway but it errors out when you go back home. Any ideas?

first way:
1-download the file : DOWNLOAD
2-put the file on your phone
3-open ROOT EXPLORER
4-do a backup of “livewallpaper.apk” in “system/app”
5-copy the file that you've downloaded into “system/app” (overwrite it)
6-restart the phone and set your live wallpaper
second way:
1-download the file : DOWNLOAD
2-put it in your sd card
3-restart the phone in recovery
4-flash it and reboot the phone
No go for me, just get the regular ol' LW:s. Didn't explicitly overwrite the original (since it was already deleted) though, but that shouldn't matter.

ive got the ".ReflexTSenseHD v1.5.1" (a2sd+) ... so my apps are at /sd-ext/app am i right?
ive backuped the old "LiveWallpapers.apk" with adb shell
"mv /sd-ext/app/LiveWallpapers.apk /sd-ext/app/LiveWallpapers.bak"
i put the new apk to the adb/tools folder and then "push LiveWallpapers.apk /sd-ext/app/LiveWallpapers.apk"
everything worked great...no errors...but why the new nexus wallpaper isnt shown after booting in my lw menu? where is my mistake?

You must have Root. Then through the file manager. I use Total Commander. Delete and replace immediately. Set rights.

How the activate the weather in the pixel launcher? Also how to get the circular icons? I m currently using rooted Xiaomi Mi3 with 7.0 Nitrogen OS

hey, i have a problem, i have the 7.1 version of the pixel launcher installed, had the nexus launcher installed first, and now i can not update to the 7.1.1 version of the pixel launcher, i downloaded the apk, but it won't install, can you please help me?
