ATTN: I9300 T-Mobile US users - Galaxy S III General

I recently got my I9300 and am on T-Mobile US and knew i wouldn't be getting H/H+, but been reading a lot and found a few ways to help with that, but of course it all depends on location.
Go to dialer, type "*#*#4636#*#*, and click Phone Information, then go down to 'Preferred Network Type' and select GSM/CDMA. Close app.
Go to dialer, type "*#*#301279*#*#" and select: Change Revision then select [3] RELEASE (6) HSDPA/HSUPA, then select HSDPA ON, HSUPA ON.
I have been getting H/H+ in more locations and hope this helps others. But at the end of the day, it is still dependent on location.

I tried both the codes and got "connection problem of invalid MMI code" not sure why I get those.
btw do you see "roaming" when trying to use your s3 on t-mobile.. I didnt see that when on AT&T and I just switched to T-mobile
---------- Post added at 11:57 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:56 AM ----------
I was wondering if "Fast Dormancy" needs to be enabled or disabled for T-Mobile?

no sign of 'roaming' here, make sure you have correct T-Mobile APN settings. I personally have fast dormancy enabled, but don't think it makes a difference.. could be wrong tho. As for the codes, try them without the quotes.

I checked the APN and its set to T-Mobile.
I did try the codes without quotes... no luck with either of them. I am on Omege v43.3 XXEMC3

It didn't work for me. Typing *#*#4636#*#* didn't bring up anything. Are you on stock rom?
Btw, if you want to know if you can get H/H+ in your location, check out this website

[GUIDE] How to manually change the PRL on the Galaxy S III

For anyone interested in changing their PRL, the method is as simple as ever.
This is on a Sprint phone but should work with any CDMA carrier.
*I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR DEVICE*
1. Be rooted!
2. Find your MSL. I had a hard time getting my phone to give the numbers using the terminal for some reason. It's much easier just to use "Get My MSL," which can be found in the Play Store for free.
EDIT: This app worked for me the first time using it, but no longer does. Download Terminal Emulator from the Play Store, type in "su" and enter it, then try typing "getprop ril.MSL" (capitalization is important)
3. Make sure you have downloaded the phone's drivers onto your computer.
4. Open your phone's dialer and type *#7284#"
5.PhoneUtil should now be open. Click on "Qualcomm USB Settings" and select "DM + Modem + ADB." Remember to change this back after you change your PRL.
6. Plug your phone into your computer; let your phone recognize the phone.
7. Download your preferred PRL from the internet. I usually use 11115, but you can use whichever one you find best.
8. Open "Device Manager" on your computer; click on "Ports" and see which COM port your phone is connected to on your PC.
9. Use the program "CDMA Workshop" to connect to your phone by selecting the correct COM port, clicking "Connect," and then clicking "Read."
10. Go to the "Security" tab and put in your MSL into the box under "SPC." Click the "SPC" button and click "Send." It should say that the phone is unlocked.
11. Under PRL, click "Write" and select the PRL you want to switch to.
12. It should say that it successfully wrote; exit the program and let it reboot the phone when it asks.
13. Enjoy your new PRL!

I cannot get this to work. What am I doing wrong? I followed the instructions and tried TEST.prl and Test.prl, and I'm using any cut 1.0.

i have tried both methods and they both work.
question i have is.
have any of you actually been able to force roam?
i have managed to change the prl quite easily but thin phone will not roam for the life of me which sucks because i live in a 1x area...

I haven't tried force roaming, however I have successfully roamed on the Verizon network (at least according to the "Netmonitor" app).
Any way to get MSL without root? It's just good to have it "just in case". Only time I ever actually used it was to completely deactivate and remove info from my Epic 4G once I had my SGS3 activated.

Preferred Roaming List; it tells the phone when and where to roam whenever there isn't sufficient service coverage from Sprint.
Apex launcher - it doesn't work.
TW launcher - it does.

[Q] 2G only mode?

My local Vodafone mast/transmitter is faulty on the 3G side, preventing me making/receiving calls, but 2G seems fine when I tried it on an older phone.
There doesn't seem to be an option to put my S4 (GT-i9505) into 2G-only mode....there is an auto 2G/3G option, 3G only option or auto 2G/3G/4G option....nothing else, and naturally, the auto modes put the phone into the (faulty) 3G mode.
Are there any hidden settings that I can change?
Try 4g Toggle in Play Store. In that program you will have an option to change this option.

That simply creates a shortcut to the network options on the phone!
It doesn't do anything else, so what's the point?
Can anyone suggest anything else to help me?

Thanks.
I've now got and installed the app, but it looks complicated in terms of what I'm trying to achieve.
I've no idea what Bands to select & what issues it could cause if I muckup.
Is there no easier way, or a "nicer" app I could try?
This is still a major issue for me and no-one seems to be able to point me in the right direction.
I was wondering....if I simply turn off "Mobile Data" in the settings, will that automatically put the phone in GSM (non 3G) mode & let me achieve my aim??
I've just tried doing this...there is now no letter next to the signal bars, but the phone can take a call.

So, uh... for me, after I flashed this ROM, everything works perfectly right off the bat! No settings changes needed, as soon as it booted up for the first time I had network connectivity, data is working, LTE working, calls (incoming and outgoing) working, texts (receiving and sending) all working perfectly, camera working, wifi working... and it's lightning fast, it's like a brand new phone!
EDIT: Actually I spoke too soon... for some reason trying to send a text just says "message not sent", but I can still receive texts fine. Looking into this issue now.

This build fixes the market incompatibility error, among other things. For some reason, sending texts still won't work for me, but receiving texts does.

how to restrict network to lte?

I'm at a place where mobile connections are poor. I used to have an option in the past where I could choose only lte. That worked. In the Rom I use now this is not included. Only switch automatically 2g/3g/4g. Which ends up constantly switching to E. I have to toggle plane mode and it goes back to lte. Is there a way to limit to 4g so that it doesn't switch? Sorry for the bad English

it's not a specific question for the Rom. I thought there may be a way to do it in buildprop.
I can chose only 2g, only 3g, and switch automatically 2g/3g/4g. That's standard. What I need is only 4g.
