[Q] quick pulldown when no notifications - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
I got my Nexus 4 today, and I really like it. I flashed CM10.1 nightly and it is very smooth.
Only feature I miss, it the following: If there are no notifications, when I pull the status bar I would get the quick settings. If there are notifications, when I pull the status bar I would get the notifications tray.
I had this feature on my old phone custom ROMs and I would like to have it on my Nexus too. Is there a ROM that allows it?
Thanks.

It's in the system settings (Settings>System)

Sorry, I just can't find it there. The Quick pulldown option has only "Off, Right, Left" options, while the one I want ("If no notifications") is not present.
Am I missing something?

i believe both carbon rom and liquid smooth have it.
edit: maybe not carbon, i swear i saw it before but now i cant find it. at any rate, there are definitely multiple roms for us that have that feature, ive seen it quite a few times.

I believe AOKP had it when I was using it a while ago.

[Q] Notification Bar Broken (looking for workaround)

Well, I have a weird problem I have never seen before. My notification bar area has lost touchability. I know, this sounds weird. In other terms, I have lost the touch function of the top ~1 cm of the screen.
I have tried wiping everything possible, changing roms, kernels, recoverys; nothing helps. I have officially given up on making the top bar work. Oh and I might note that I am out of warranty and Sprint will not help.
So now, here comes my question: Is there any app that lets me perform a gesture while inside any app to open my notification bar? Something similar to wave launcher but for opening the notification bar.
If you are on CM7, you can use the Tablet Tweaks under Cyanogenmod Settings to move the status bar to the bottom -- then you can swipe it from there.

So part of your screen failed...get it fixed... better than a workaround
Why are you out of warranty? They know you're rooted? You should have a 1-year manufacturer warranty from HTC.
Also, if you use 3rd party launchers such as ADW and LauncherPro, you can change your swype down gesture. For example, you can make a swype down on the homescreen open the notification drawer.

If you've taken it to Sprint & they've refused to fix it, try a different store. Unroot first, of course.
You could always flip the phone to landscape and pull it down from there. I hate auto-rotate, but that's just me.
Also, in slightly older versions of MIUI, the "recent apps" window was part of the notification area. I really liked being able to long-press the home button, then swipe left/right to get to notifications/toggles. It was especially handy in an app where the notification bar is automatically hidden. I believe the last build to include this was 1.4.8, everything since has a separate window for recent apps. If you like MIUI, you could try 1.4.8 or before.

Show notifications in ParanoidAndroid

Hi guys!
So I'm running ParanoidAndroid and loving it..
Only one question: I'm using the extended desktop mode so I can't see my notifications bar. Is there any way to quickly see my notification?

Do you want the status bar permanently enabled or not? If you change the softkey height to 0 in PA the hybrid settings, you can have the status bar and PIE controls at the same time.
Also, go into the pie controls (settings>toolbars) and change the style to quick or bare, it should be a lot faster.
plus, you can swipe up with pie to access both panels, toggles and notifications.

[Q] Mod for quick settings & charging led?

I love the quick open of quick settings by sliding the finger from a side of the status bar and the customization of the tiles. I also like the LED while the phone is charging (I couldn't make lightflow work :S). The problems is that I only need those features, and I prefer using stock ROM instead of installing a whole new one.
Are these features available in CM and other ROMs as mods for the stock ROM? Thank you.

I use lightflow and had a bit of trouble setting it up originally. If you try and enable light-flow in accessibility when the app prompts you it wont work. It always force closed for me. You need to install it, then go settings and enable it manually, give it a try.
I'm running Liquid Smooth, and it does have the option for the led to light up when charging, orange while charging, and green when it hits 90%.
For the quick toggles you can set quick pull-down, so that you always pull-down settings from one side. I personally like to have quick-settings always come up when there are no notifications, and i have swipe gesture set in nova to pull-down the quick-settings in case there are notifications and i want to get to the toggles quickly.
How I've been some help. I have found the ROM to have really good battery life too, i get around 4hrs screen on time, usually set to 100%.

[I9000][CM 10.1] Tip using notification bar

Hi guys,
Not sure...if this is been discussed earlier or not....or if this is a common feature across all the roms...however just wanted share....
When we pull down the notification bar....you can get both power widgets or quick setting panel.....as :
1. If you pull the bar by putting your fingure on the left side of bar then power widgets are seen.
2. If you pull the bar by putting your fingure on right side of screen then quick setting panel is seen.
I have tested it on mackay rom...can you seen on others too.
Thanks,
Erpurohit
Yes this is intended. I do believe that there is an option to set this in System > Quick Settings panel > Quick pulldown so yes this is probably across all 4.2.2 devices and certainly available on all CM roms.
So, yes this is a feature but you've probably posted this for those who didn't know.
Like the above poster said it's a feature you can enable in your system settings in CM, apparently Mackay added it as default in his own fork.
I didn't like it seeing as I always pull down the bar from the sides, but it's a nice feature for people that can get used to it for sure.
I had not noticed before, it really is

[Q] Remove Quick Settings from Notification Panel?

I want to get rid of the quick settings from the notification pulldown. Stock rom, rooted.
Can't seem to find anything that will do it (XPosed, etc.) besides flashing a custom rom. Any ideas?

I'm on a stock note 4 nonroot and want to get rid of this awful samsung notification panel too. Let me know if you find an answer.
Anyone out there that can advise?
I've been looking, not for getting rid of it but changing it at least. I really don't know why they take a really functional, nice looking version from aosp and then ruin it with their changes.
have you tried going into the notifications settings, and just removing all the active quick setting tiles so they don't show up?
