[Q] really confused with all the recoveries out there... - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

in the noob sticky thread in the general form there are several cwm types found-permanent, temporary..etc
which one should i flash?
also permanent can be removed if i flash stock with odin in the future right?
thanks!
PS if it is not too much trouble could you also post the link?

There are only 2 kinds of recoveries for sgy
That is stock and cwm
baically cwm temporapy if flashed via cwm and is automatically removed when u exit recobery mode
Permanant one replaces the stock recovery and u cannot it...
It comes with kernels(most of them) cwm recovery is advaisable cause it offers many options like backup restore and many more
Also many zips (tars in some cases) are only cimpatable with cwm as they use busybox command ... any more quiries ... feel free
Its nice to see u saw an article in general and came back here to post question
Many noobs have made a mess in general and theming :banghead:

CWM provides more features but it works the same with stock,
permanent CWM's are built and integrated into the kernel,
temporary CWM are ones overwrite the current recovery but will be rewritten by kernel during boot.
it does not matter though which one you use unless the rom author specifiacally told you to use CWM

stuck at samsung logo

I went to replace framework-res.apk, and now it wont go past samsung logo, please tell me I didn't brick my phone?
Please Help [email protected][email protected]!
What did you flash?, theme kernel? Be specific
I went to flash some circular battery mod, and then it crashed and won't boot.
Never mind. Do you have cwm installed? if so, flash a rom that matches the one you are on. That'll fix that issue. Next time don't flash something that isn't for the rom version that you are on.
Specifially I renamed it framework-re.apk.bak, and then about to replace it it won't boot.
Which rom version are you on? DL09? DJ05? DI01?
Dont have cwm installed, did it through root explorer.
You probably flashed a file that wasn't compatible with our phone, or isn't compatible with the ROM you're running (DI01 mod on DJ05/DL09). Reflash the ROM you're running and it should fix the problem.
Just flash the rom that you are on again.
So there's no way out? I have to loose all my data?
Also next time flash a theme that it's compatible to your rom version.
You don't have to wipe!
you can flash dj05 theme on top of dl09, but remember to flash the dl09 theme fix.

If you flash the same rom you're on now, you don't have to wipe data.
I'm going to win imnuts...
But doesn't odin delete all data?

By any chance, did you make a backup of your old framework-res.apk?
And what version are you on? DI01, DJ05, DL09?
If you have Clockwork, you can use ADB to push a new framework to your phone. Just reboot into recovery, connect to your computer and open up a command prompt (on Windows):
adb push framework-res.apk system/framework/framework-re
Here's mostly stock versions of the framework:
DI01
DJ05/DL09 (works for either, but you have to rename to framework-res.apk)
The only difference in these is that I did my own little battery mod:

If you had a theme installed, this will probably screw it up, reverting most stuff back to stock, but hopefully it'll at least get you booting again.
If I reboot into normal samsung recovery will adb work?
I am just gonna reflash with odin..........

Not sure if ADB works with the stock recovery, I'm using a Voodoo kernel, so the stock recovery is gone.
But if you're flashing with Odin, you could just flash Clockwork recovery and then boot to it and use ADB. Might as well get Clockwork on your phone... with a backup, you could have been back up in just a few minutes.
Wow, this is a fascinating thread with so much confusion.

Flash zip with Mobile ODIN Pro just with root?

Hello everyone!
Actually I am on stock Android, version 4.3, without root, bootloader onlock, etc. So it's untouched.
Now I would like to flash the following mod:
[MOD][NEXUS 4][4.3 + 4.2.2][DEODEX + ODEX][STOCK ROM] 1% Battery Mod
I want to do it with Mobile ODIN Pro. Before that, I was planing to root my Nexus with the Nexus Root Toolkit.
Do I need to unlock the bootloder as seen in the screenshot? Or is just a root sufficient?

Thank you very much in advance!
Does Mobile Odin even work with the Nexus 4? I was under the impression it mostly for Samsung products.
Why not root, install custom recovery and flash with custom recovery?
I want to get the OTA updates from google. It is not possible with a custom recovery. Is there another away? I just need this one mod.
Take the SystemUI.apk out and manually replace each battery icon in the correct folder.

Do I need a root for it? (noob question)
I read something about a possibility to load into recovery, install things and after a reboot the recovery should be deleted automatically. Or did I get something wrong?

You will need root to get to SystemUI.apk (you might be able to pull with ADB but I'm not 100% sure.
A custom recovery will not delete itself.
You can't replace the ROM installed at time of locking with another or you get a black screen. And I don't think mobile Odin is for nexus 4 being a Samsung program.

You can also use the toolkits to bring up a custom recovery temporarily without actually flashing it, so you can keep your stock recovery.

I rooted it, flashed a custom recovery and installed the mod. If google releases an update, I will flash it manually. No need for OTA Updates.
Thank you very much!

lg g2 bricked

hello, i just tried to flash cloudyg2 3.3 and i have bricked my d802 16gb. i had stock lp and had rooted and installed twrp did the wipes (no internal), got the right lp bootstack and used the right settings, so i really dont know what went wrong.
the symptom is that lg logo show for a fraction of a second and then a washed out gray on top of screen that fades away slowly. also while connected in pc it reads like many many drives.
on the bright side i can enter recovery/download modes. in my original attempt i used the bumbed sign, on my tries to fix it i also used the loki one, same deal.
seems like i have no recovery file, i thought i did it with one of the programs i installed, but since i am newbie seems like i misunderstood. so no recovery file
any help?
solution found:
1.Download the latest TWRP from blastagator here.
2.Flash it with your current recovery, reboot into that new recovery.
3.Download SRKG2 rom (by somboons) here.
4.This rom is a full stock rom with some debloat and custom camera. Wipe /system/ /cache/ /dalvik-cache/ /data/ and flash it (choose any options, it's not important since you'll be only installing this rom because it also upgrades other partitions to a lollipop supported version.
5.Boot into the rom and reboot into recovery again. (If you are unable to boot or the boot is taking too long like 10 minutes, shut down, go to recovery again and perform a factory reset, the one that makes you type 'yes' in the keyboard and you should be fine).
6.Download CloudyG2 3.1 and wipe /system/ /cache/ /dalvik-cache/ /data/ again.
7.Flash the rom choosing the correct version of your phone (among other preferences) in the aroma installer.
8.Boot and enjoy!
i cant post link of the solution cause i am new, but many thanks to him. i still dont understand what went wrong, but my hypothesis is that i shouldnt install the lp bootloader since i was in lp anyway.
i hope it helps anyone with similar problem.
cheers

Unable to install any custom rom. Please provide step by step guide.

Hello friends, please guide me.
First I tried to install Phronesis rom in my note 3 but failed. Then I tried to install "Norma Rom Note 5 V29" but again it failed just like before.
When I click "install" option in the TWRP recovery main menu it open a new menu where it asks me to select the zip. When I select zip file it asks me to "swipe to install". When I swipe it open a new window where few commands starts appearing on screen and a blue bar starts moving at the bottom of screen. After a few seconds a command appear saying "starting aroma installer". and after this phone restarts and get stuck on note 3 logo.
Please help me in this regard. All the information about my phone is given below.
TWRP recovery version that I have is "twrp-3.0.1-0-hlte".

No one?
Some using the search function and you find out that TWRP 3 does not work with Aroma Installers. ^^ Use 2.8.7.0 and you are set.

You have already been given instructions but are to lazy to read and require spoonfeeding .

Thanks to you. If I knew that TWRP is causing it then surely I would have searched. By the way I have been trying to use search option but due to not-knowing of what to search this option is not very helpful. That's why I have to create new thread. If I am violating any rules of the forum then I apologize.
I got the solution for this problem before you "SpoonFeeded" me. Instead of being rude you should have mentioned this at the moment when I asked this question for the first time? And I was not given any instructions to do this.
Thanks to you. If I knew that TWRP is causing it then surely I would have searched.
As i said read Questions and Answers its all posted but you refused to read .
2.2 Question:Why is it unable to flash the Rom? After flashing the Rom Zip File from TWRP, the AROMA Installer wan't open and the Phone would just reboot.
I try to flash the Rom but now i stuck on Samsung Boot Animation. Phone don't boot. What to do? Answer:
1. Have you checked the MD5 Checksum? Sometimes a Download is corrupt and a Instalation fails. You find the MD5 Checksum behind the Downladlink.2. Which Recovery you using? Sometimes the Recovery make problems install a Rom with Aroma Installer.
For now TWRP V3.0 makes trouble and don't let you instal the Rom. Try a earlier version or a different Recovery.

Custom Recovery?

Are there any custom recoveries out there for our s7 edge t mobile? I have it rooted now but are there any recoveries? I have been searching and had no luck.
Nope

No there arent. To flash stuff you need to download flashfire from the play store. It works just like twrp but it's a app. When you want to flash something you will select the plus sign in the bottom right corner and select zip. It's super easy to use
Thought i had found a recovery for some odd reason, and it was def. Exynos twrp. There a way to flash the stock recovery img? Im thinking of flashing through flashfire but im afraid after flashing it actually wouldnt wipe since there seems to be no recovery, only a download mode menu, whilst saying recovery booting.

I personally haven't tried but if you want to risk bricking go for it. If it's any comfort, I doubt anything will happen. Worse case scenario is that it installs, you trip Knox and unable to mount the system partition and won't be able to boot it up. But even then... Odin should still be possible. But again... I wouldn't risk it. I'm fairly sure that it's been tried. There is a QC version of the recovery somewhere that never worked via Odin back in June or so.
I personally was the first to attempt flashing twrp via flashfire. it will not work. DM-Verity kicks in and will not allow it to load. you get a BRIEF flicker of twrp loading up and it loads the failed integrity check. the good news was i was able to flash the stock files and got it loading again with no KNOX trip or errors.
