[closed] GMD GestureControl Nexus 10 support - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Edit:
Thread is closed I probably misjudged issues on N10. Apparently application is working well enough and feedback that I got were particular cases, so please ignore/close this thread.

I'll pledge $5! Good luck

I'm using it on my N10 and it is a bit slow/delayed.
Not trying to be mean but why should we donate if we already paid for the app.
For me, I'm not willing to pay twice. But I appreciate your efforts and think it's a great app regardless.

You are right, I am counting N10 purchases towards goal.

I use it on my N10 with ZERO problems... It is freaking awesome... I don't use any of the presets but all of my custom gestures work perfectly...
4 finger gestures are a little awkward IMO

We probably are talking about the same thing, gestures do work pretty well, but multitouch parser needs fine tuning. And its difficult to achieve with logs in this case.

I see... I was just saying trying to use 4 fingers is awkward... The gestures work just fine... The only one I ever had a problem with is the screen off one where you rotate 5 fingers.. So I guess in that respect it needs a little tweaking... But it is perfect as is in my use case

I reconsidered and decided this is wrong way to address it. Thread closed

Now its closed.

Amazing painting,drew with Note

just view following pics,i found other site, drew by Dxq666 .
Holy smokes! That's good stuff.
Great drawings!!!
Holy Crap!!! That's Awesome stuff!
Fantastic!
I can't get a good calibration with my stylus.
Maybe it's because I'm left-handed and hold the pen to the side (I did change the left/right hand settings).
I just can't get it to be accurate.
Sweet. Neat looking art.
The 3rd one is very good.
Are we doing a general "post your pictures done on the Note" thing yet?
Here is my first try just using the S Memo app. Hopefully I can get the cat to sit still for longer next time:

Nice - does that use the pressure-sensitivity or is it just whatever weight of line you choose? So far I've only really found the basic S-Memo app to behave the way I want it to.

Wow, you've got some talent there fards! Beautiful use of colors.
Does this mean you've moved on from the Streak? Any thoughts for a fellow Streaker thinking about making the switch?
I have played with Zen brush and omni sketch but none of them have the pressure working properly in Zen it simply doesn't work and in omnisketch the options won't show.already emailed developers and they are aware of the issue,
My rom in UK kj4 it would be great If anyone with a latest from would try and see if it works, the best way to test is by downloading omni sketch and checking if you have the pressure options as in the manual.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA App
Ooh, I wasn't even aware there were _meant_ to be pressure options in Omnisketch - they're just not there, like you say.
I'm on KJ4/KJ4/KJ3 (CPW) -

both zen brush and omnisketch are cool applications but I can't find them anywhere. (I have a Tab 10.1 but can't access Samsung Apps)
It would be great if someone would take backups of these apps (using Astro maybe) and share the apk files
Question : do you guys use the s-pen or do you use other pens? If so, which?
Thanks
WTF, i cant even write anything properly...

Art Transformer

So people, has anyone here been using is TF as a drawing tablet? I basically got mine thinking it would do a decent job replacing my graphic tablet when I'mnot at home, and I must say that with Photoshop Touch and the adonit Jot, it's been really great.
So if there's anybody here who uses it this way, I would very much like to see what they managed to obtain, so show off !
For people interested, here is what I got to do with a little work (and I have a last one, with a topless girl, which his my last and favorite creation... but I'm not sure I can show it here).
What do you use? Also, must show or we won't believe you can draw naked girls.
I made my signature with the jot and PS touch, I've done other things as well..like a SPARK signature logo in paul burton's dev thread..very handy..
That's some nice stuffs

How did you manage to get a different brush in PS Touch ? I can't find for the life of me a way to change it...

Okay, so here we go :
Yeah, from what I've gathered you can't change brush shape, only size, opacity, flow and hardness, but you can enable pressure sensitivity, yet it just random jitters with the jot, sure the jot 2 will enable this option fully, ICS already has pressure sensitivity via Bluetooth function built in IIRC.
But you get warp and filter masks etc so i use these functions to address the missing brush options.
Speaking of pen pressure... Did anyone try the stylus from the HTC Flyer or the Samsung Galaxy note with our TF ? PS Touch and SBPro claim they use the pressure ; can we get it with these ?

Unfortunately, I don't think so. With those pens, AFAIK, they require special hardware in the screen similar to a Wacom screen.

Well, given that theses styli are battery powered, I figured they would analyse the pressure themselves and send the, information to the device... after all that's the way my lowgrade Aiptek tablet works.
Thank you to the others for your nice comments.
Up !
Just to let you know I purchased Sketchbook Pro : wanted to see if it could be easier than Photoshop Touch to use. Well, I find the UI really intuitive, and it has freaking brushes ! Yay.
The con is that the number of layers is limited - 7 or 8, not sure. I only know I've found myself merging layers 'cause I needed a new one and had reached the app's limit.
Anyway, here's what I did this evening : took me about one hour, and I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out.

Nice man, I wish I had this kind of talent.
Just got sketchbook pro. Takes alot of getting used to but I like it so far! I am using a regular pen for tablets. This sketch took a while because I had to figure what everything does lol. Anyone got tips on using sketchbook pro?
Yay, like it - a lot! As you might already have guessed, you'll find the Transformer works best with sketching: getting a clean line can be a pain the ass, but eventually, everything seems to be possible.
As for tips, I'm afraid I don't have any. I know I have spent a fair amount of time learning to edit my brushes (you can change opacity, smoothness, spacing, hardness/smoothness... almost everything, for both the extremities and the middle of a line) only to find my settings didn't stick when I would close the app... but hey, with a bit of practice, it's pretty fast to set up again. If you ever used Photoshop or the Gimp, you'll find a lot of similarities.

S pen adjustment with TouchScreenTune

As you know, those of us with Galaxy Notes complain about the "lagginess" of the device and the inaccuracy of the S pen. There is an app called TouchScreenTune on the Play Store for Galaxy Note that lets you adjust the S Pen accuracy and the Screens responsiveness.
The free version lets you see that the app actually does work and the licenced version lets you save the settings. The licence is 5 bucks. And, of course, your phone has to be rooted. But I would highly recommend TouchScreenTune.
nice finding! looks good... i hope the author of this app makes money, but on the other hand I hope we get the fix for free on ICS...
Thanks for the info. The offcenter calibration of the s-pen have made me not use it at all!

Overpriced and completely unnecessary
And the full version is an out-of-market purchase?
No dice.
That said, I'd hardly classify $5 as "overpriced" if it works as advertised.
Wasnt this a free app originally made for the Galaxy S II? What happened there?
I remember just grabbing the apk over at the S II forums before

yeah it was intended for the GS2. Perhaps this is a placebo effect people are getting on their note? lol
installed trial, tested, changed offsets, tested
WOW, NO DIFFERENCE.
uninstalled.
I actually did purchase the licence myself and I do notice a difference. Is it perfect? Not really. But it does make an improvement...at least to my eyes anyway. I have a pinball game app and since I increased the touch screen sensitivity, the flippers respond more quickly. Not as quickly as I would like, but an improvement none the less. As for the s pen settings, it works as advertised. But I wonder why Sammy didn't include something like this in the settings menu in the first place. Maybe with the ICS update? I hope so.

In the trial version the settings are lost when the phone locks.
Spen calibration is really only an issue for left handed ppl who curl their hand when writing... other ppl probably wont experience it. Its very noticeable when i write. Lecture notes app has a calibration setting for writing I just use that.

I have to agree! The reason for the slight offset of the S-Pen is due to the natural way you hold a pen when writing on the screen. Therefore Samsung set it like this purposely. After a short time you get used to how this works and it becomes natural.
I did find another app though when looking at this.. called Jotter (for Galaxy Note only) it has a 100% palm rejection when writing on the screen, so it feels more natural to rest your hand as you write. I tried it for the 15 minutes and it worked well, but I don't write notes enough to justify spending £3 for it.
in order for this to work properly there needs to be some code that is put into the kernel. We on the i717 have a debug kernel that DA_g created that has KALLSYMS + KALLSYMS_ALL in it. Im not sure if this alone is all that is needed but it does make my SPEN more precise as apposed to not having this at all. But in order for this to work I had to use da_g debug kernel.. any other kernel it didnt change anything....

Do you use all the features?

I'm planning on getting the htc one but some of these features seem really cool on the s4, so my question is do you use them all or are they just a bunch of gimmicks.

Really the only one that has impressed me is the eraser mode on the camera that removes moving objects... otherwise, all the "smart" features stay off. Battery hogs to the max.

Unless you use the "smart" features you don't know that for a fact. I have been using the smart features on and off for over a week, with the features / gimmicks on and running there isn't much battery drain at all.
While a lot of the features are gimmicks some are actually very useful.
Smart stay - (the best one out of all them, should be in stock Android)
Quick glance - (use this all time while it's on my desk or on a table)
Air view - (helps me dig through text messages fast and zoom in on some websites)
Air gesture - (I actually go in the gallery a lot and this makes browsing photos more fun and... natural? in a sense)
Palm motion - (use this all the time to answer phone calls and mute or pause music also use it to capture screenshots
Direct call - (I have to admit it's nice and very useful to just directly call someone while simply just moving the phone to your head while in the texting or contacts app)

I used Air View for a bit but it made my screen too sensitive which i used those specific programs.
besides that the only Air feature that i might turn on is Air Call Accept. And it only works during phone calls so its not bad.
The watchon TV controller thing is a bit weird. Doesnt work all the time..
Today I was eating lunch with my phone next to me. Got a call and used the gesture to answer and have the speaker turn on without me touching the phone. That was nice. Voice control camera is cool, but saying different things changes how the camera shoots. I'm still figuring that one out.
Thanks for the replies, none of these sounds useful to me.

OMG... I wasn't trying to come off negative, sorry if it seemed that way. I just hate when people like to call out facts when they haven't even used or tested the subject themselfs.
Notice I also said "unless" you did use them yourself.

Alright, i apologize for the snap judgement. Im fanatical about battery, and they do drain extra, which to me is unacceptable for what you get in exchange. Was much more impressed with the smart stay than any of the new ones, and depending on how many times you let the screen almost time out it can add a fairly substantial amount.
Your right, i should probably rephrase my 'hog' assessment, im probably more picky than others about battery. .

btw my is really slow right ?
i found one funny issue with my pie control, if i open pie control in any screen other than home screen, it work perfectly but in home screen it take few second to load, any one have idea what it cause ?
I am actually taking back my recommendation on this app...
more than once I have had it kind of "take over" my screen.
What I mean is, any touch on my screen is attempting to touch something in PIE control (and not actually graphically showing PIE control, btw).
you effectively can't do anything at that point.
Its been a few days since I stopped using it, but I really did pretty exhaustively try to figure out how to stop this.
I really liked this app's "swipe" method instead of pulling the PIE out and having to like hold on a button for a quick sec, this app lets you do it in a smooth swiping motion.
Anyways, ive given up and gone back to onscreen navigation keys.
Every method I have tried (including XDA's navigation) has had some small hangups that eventually have problems working.
And no I haven't reported errors and such in respective threads, I just give up because my "lots of effort into having a hacky phone" days are behind me
