Three network gets an OTA update

Just saw this one on Facebook: http://www.extragsm.com/news/three-network-rolled-out-update-for-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-i260.html I myself can't update because i'm from Finland and i have a different carrier, but i thought that i would let everyone know who has Three.

I'm on 3, but there is no way I'm going back to stock to see what it is. Though I would like to know what radio they are shipping.

dude ive just got the sgs2 on 3, im stock on their latest ota update, no idea what its changed if anything, tell me how to find the radio info your looking for and ill post it, its my 2nd sgs2, had 1 on o2 for a weekm but shocking signal so sent it back, three is awesome in my area, loving the unlimted net and download speeds compared to o2 and my orange

Unlimited ftw that's why I went with them.
Go to settings > about phone > look at baseband, kernel and build and post what it says there!

could someone pls find out the baseband version.
my phone is simfree meaning i cannot get my network updates.

Hmmm.. in Finland here too.. OTA updates have worked for about two weeks..

Well its better than before, as it was a KE2 rom, now KF4 with what is a pretty good radio, KE7 is still the best for me though.
Seems pretty good all things considered, better late than never for those who stay stock and update via official channels

new firmware update today - whats new?

today I got an OTA update notice about a firmware update (size 8.7mb). As I have rooted my phone I really dont want to install it unless I get something useful. The update info just says "improved stability".
Has anyone tried to install this update and knows what it adds?

How are we supposed to know it? You did not tell us the region or carrier? You did not mention your current firmware version?

Look under settings/about phone.
Here you find your current firmware details. If you combine this information with what carrier you are using and try searching either XDA or simply Google it I'm sure you will find something. There are lots of forums out there that does nothing but discuss these things.
In short, search!

So I am not tripping. I noticed it being quite a bit smoother after my update. Which is scary. I can't imagine how smooth it can be with Jelly Bean.

But as has been said this update might be an old update .
Update with no details of what firmware does not exist and is a pointless post and for all we know may just be yet another dumb hoax .

so after 8 hours since this thread is opened we are yet to know what is updated amazing

Wonder if its anything to do with the "Huge Security Hole" on the S3 reported on Land of Droid, reported fixed already

I got this update the same day I bought my S3, i.e. four days ago and it's no carrier branded in any way. I bought it unlocked to use with my Telia contract I had from my Gnex which I no longer use.

I seen something about some people losing the three options on the bottom of the power menu also the brightness changer in the notification area nd this update is supposed to bring that back to anybody that lost it that's wot I read anyway

I did get the update via OTA but no information regarding firmware or such, just "performance upgrade".
So here are my findings so far:
The battery time sucks, big time.
When you insert head phones you don't get the notification that phones are inserted. In notifications you don't get the start music options that were point before the update.
The included screenshot is my present phone data.

Ohamm, I remember seeing a setting in Sounds and advanced under 'Headphones', and it was to do with what you mentioned

I got the same OTA mssage but I'm unable to update even through Kies, I'm on a carrier for mexico

I found the settings that you talked about. The problem is that I don't remember if I unticked this myself out not.

But the battery time is still piss poor.
It drains like a mother [email protected]$#!
It's like being online watching a movie with max brightness, and at the same time uploading 50 GB to Dropbox!
You can almost see the energy drizzling away!

Why am i not getting the 4.3 update?

Hey guys.. So i bought this Nexus 4..will attach the about phone thing here... I didnt receive the update yet :/ its strange because my cousin got his at 12 AM last night. And its 7:00PM here... I live in Pakistan (so does he obviously). Am i missing out on something? :/

A lot of people haven't got it yet. Be patient.
Also jbq said that method is bad, so I wouldnt do that if I were you.

It's a staged rollout, not everyone will get it at the same time, when you got it or where you are aren't contributing factors

It's on that white sticker on the package of your Nexus.
Someting like model or something, you'll find it its a long number that begins with 303K(just an example).

This is because the server is overwhelmed. I got the same message this am and when I went to Kies, it states I have the latest firmware. I have seen this with my S4 though, when an OTA was rolling out, just had not reached Kies, so it could be. We can hope...

The best spot to see if updates are coming is to keep an eye on http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
Once it gets released that will the most likely spot to show up first.

When I try USB cable and Kies it tells me I need to be WiFi for Kies to work. It will not work with the cable. If I turn off WiFi Kies stops. Do I need something different?

I got it as well..It must be on the way soon I would imagine.

i just tried here in SoCal and got this overloaded message and says go to Kies for update, which just shows I have the latest firmware. I'll give it a few days and again.

I am too. Nothing on Kies either.
