Hey guys..
I was trying to get my dock/home screen customized and messed up and accidentally deleted the app drawer icon. With other ROMs, I'd just long press and re-add it but when I long press now, my only options are customizing wallpapers.
Is there anyway to fix this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hey guys.
Sorry that my first post is a question.
I rooted my Nook Color on software version 1.4.1 using the latest ManualNooter.
Nook boots fine, can load the apps that were installed such as Market and NookColorTools.
However, if I click on an app in the market, instead of taking me to a description and button to download, it just goes back to the category menu in the market.
So if I click on "Angry Birds Free", it'll kind of jump back to "Action, RPGs, Puzzle" etc. So I can't install anything! :<
Anyone have any idea why?
Another tiny problem... the underline at the top of the Market where it says "Paid, Free, Apps" or whatever... the underline moves backwards. So I have to slide my finder right if I want to move it left.
Not sure if it's related but thought I'd mention it.
Thanks for any help and thanks greatly for the site!
Very interesting problem. Sounds like there was a bit of a glitch on the market being installed. I would get a new gapps zip and try installing that.
I'll try that. I should mention that I'm on stock software, not CM7 or anything.

Could you go into NookColor tools > manage applications > select market > uninstall updates? You might have to go and delete /cache/downloadfile.apk to get the market to update again.
I remember once running across a way to see which apps are backed up on my google account (and which ones would be restored on a new device setup) and being able to manage that.
But I can't find that anywhere anymore.
When I flash a new rom, Google is downloading some apps that I no longer use and would like a way to manage that list.
Does anyone know it?

On the Play Store, press menu and go to My apps -> All. You can press and hold an app to enter a selection mode so you don't have to press each 'X' individually. I wish there was a launcher that would automatically remove these entries when you uninstall an app. I know you can get Titanium Backup to do it, but that's a pain going into an app to uninstall another app.

Hello,
I just installed v5.5 of HyperDrive thru SS. When I start it, I expect it to ask if I have a Google account so it can retrieve my old settings but it did not. I then clicked on the GMail app and it then asked if I had an account. I went ahead and entered my info. I would think that it would then start downloading all the apps I have on my stock rom but it did not! When I installed build 6 of Jelly Beans, it did download all my apps. Is there something I'm doing wrong here?
My second question is what is the lock icon on the top right of the screen and do I need to do something with it?
Thanks!
You should post your questions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2521123 It's a support thread dedicated to Hyperdrive ROM.

Try going to Settings - Accounts to see if your Google account shows within there. Tap it and review your checkmarks for what you want to sync(contacts, browser etc)
If that all looks ok, try removing the account and adding it back via Settings - Accounts (rather than gmail method) which should give you the account wizard to restore your apps

Hi,
First I want to thank you for trying to help me. I did what you said to try and nothing at all happened. I even deleted my account and re-added it but the Play Store won't send me my apps. Can't understand why i'm having such problems with HyperDrive but Beans is working like a charm??
Thanks

I basically have the same screen as you but mine hasCalendar, Contacts, Gmail, People Details, & others. I keep clicking on the sync now button but nothing really happens as far as downloading my apps. Could there be an issue with the Play Store app itself?
To be honest, I'm getting real close to removing this ROM and just stick with Beans.
Thanks!!

It seems like it could be an issue with something within gapps like you said. Yeah I'd clean flash hyperdrive again if that's what you wanted, i have no issues on a clean flash/adding my account after first boot like you seen in the screenshot

This is actually the third time I've installed this ROM. I guess I can delete it again and re-install it. If this still does not solve my problem, I think I'll wait until the next build comes out.
I appreciate the time you taken to assist me.
Need some help. I've installed a speedometer app (switch that lights up the console in my truck went bad) and am having trouble getting rid of the icons in the app drawer. So far I've tried to reinstall the app and uninstall it with no luck. It doesn't show up in titanium after uninstalling the app. I can't find an apk after uninstalling the app. Any help?
What app? Can you back into the play store and install it that way?

Sorry. Forgot details. Locked bootloader, rooted running gpe ROM thru safestrap. Digihud speedometer is the app spedo app
I could upgrade nova launcher or use another launcher to hide the problem. And I would go insane knowing I didn't fix it.

Interesting app, it looks cool but it really f'd up my device. I could uninstall it with tibu but it left something behind. Do you have a nandroid you can restore? Do a wipe before restoring the nandroid. That was the only way I got my device back to normal

Well ****.
Hi, developer here
Hi guys, ok this is something I've not seen whilst testing it on the few physical devices I have and in the emulator. I'm not sure what's happening here but obviously I'm keen to help if I can.
The app has two main parts, the full screen display and a windowed view that is shown in front of other apps, the latter runs as a service. Both parts have settings in the manifest to enable them to be launched from icons and two icons are created when the app is installed. Whenever I've uninstalled the app both icons have been removed from the app drawer. My devices are mostly but not all rooted.
Feedback has been mixed about whether two icons are needed; some people don't want the window icon and ask how it can be removed, others like it so they can call it with other apps like AutomateIt. Because the majority of feedback was against it I've removed it from the paid version of the app...but now there are requests to have it again. Hopefully my solution will be to be able to install a shortcut if required.
Sorry, back to your problem! I'm surprised TIBU doesn't remove it if I'm honest, although the Android uninstall should remove it all. There's nothing unusual or malicious in the code (i'm really not that clever!) to prevent it uninstalling.
If a link to a particular version of the .apk helps let me know and I'll post it if I can.
I'll do some more testing and see what I can find and post anything useful here.
Sorry for the hassle.
James
Would a catlog help in troubleshooting the issue. As JD said it is an interesting app. The HUD display works great (very clever idea there), but I want to be able to remove that icon. I like to keep my app drawer paired down to as few apps as possible and that one icon sticks out to me.

I totally understand. The logcat may well help me see what's up.
Thanks.

Device: Fire HD10(2017)
OS: Fire OS 5.6.0.0
I followed instructions from a youtube video to and am not able to install Google account manager and Google Play Store, 'Install' button gray. I was able to get Google Services and Google Play services installed. Found this thread: [HOW-TO] Install Google Play Store (Fire OS 5.X) (No Root/PC/ADB) and thinking I installed out of order, video had order of 'Services Framework, 'Play Servcies', 'Account Manager' and 'Play Store'. I'm thinking I installed in wrong order OR fire os 5.6 is stopping the install of account manager and play store.
Any ideas?
you can install as in order or as you did with the code. my problem is the same as yours. after the update to the 5.6 the install is gray out. So the solution i found is to set the BLUE SHADE on and then step by step do the following:
download the file and click open then the INSTALL still gray out. DUN CLOSE the window.
Just download other such as play services or account manager n repeat the same click open n leave it.
then you can switch between the screen where there is INSTALL gray out. for some reason after switching back n forth you can click on INSTALL.
Hope that help
An even easier work around is to just use to power button to put the tablet to sleep then wake it and unlock, the install button will become active.

Why the hell is Amazon doing this with that latest update? I know, they want their customers to be stuck on the Amazon platform, but still... It really sucks to be forced to search tricks in order to be able to install apks... I'm planning to buy a Fire HD 10 because I know some tricks allow the installation of the Play Store. If it really becomes impossible, I won't buy...

I followed these steps and got the software installed.... too bad I didn't think it through and just put the tablet to sleep. But either way, thanks for your help!
Can anyone check and see if these methods still work? Because I just tried and I can't seem to get it done.
Guys hello,
I am trying to follow these steps to install google on the child's profile of my fire 8 hd 2017.
But when i launch the apk the install is greyed out.
If hit the sleep button, when it wakes up i get the kids main interface and as it has no square button, i can not choose the window i had open before the sleep button.
Am i doing something wrong?
Thanks for any help you can provide
Iam

I just got the HD 10 on Black Friday and can not install the google stuff no way, no how. I've tried all of the published tricks and still have grayed out buttons. Aholes! Mine is going back in the box. It is a shame because it looks to be a nice tablet.
So using the square window button (like you're going to switch to a new app) works like a charm to get the install button to where is not greyed out but you have to scroll all the way down on the permissions/install page first.
But has anyone figured out how to get it to work in the freetime/child profile yet? Still can't find a way to get it to stop being greyed out. The power button/sleep then unlock does not appear to work for this.

Having the same problem as this. Any luck with a workaround?
works for me as of Dec 1st 2017
I had the same problem with the install button not responding/being greyed out after initially turning on the device and trying to install the apks. I just powered the device down and back up and downloaded the apk again, then scrolled all the way down to the point where the next button turns into the install button, then hit the install button and it worked fine.
Grey install issue solved
Go to settings, apps & games, on collect app ussage data turn it off. Install button should be enabled.
