Screen coating pealing off - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys... I just noticed that in the top left corner of my Nexus 4 where the light sensors are...it looks like a bit foggy ...and that area isn't that black like the rest of the screen is. Is this a sign of screan coating peeling off? foggy steam that zips underneath the screen? or just a defect? I always wipe my screen and it's not noticable at first glance. But if you glare it with some light u can see " a smudge like foggyness..that no matter how you wipe it it doesn't come off. Can I still return this for defects? or how much does it cost to get it repaired? pls. thank you.
I posted a picture take a look -_-

Dude I have the same thing! Except its on the bottom left corner. If I wipe it with a microfiber cloth it seems to go away but comes back soon after using it. On a side note I noticed two scratches one horizontal and one vertical near the middle right its annoying the crap out of me now. Are there any products I could use to minimize the scratch without using a screen protector?

It would help if u have a picture.
I'm not sure aoubt your issue but mine if i sitck it out in the sunlight i can see 2 shades on the area with and without the screen. Not sure if its the same as yours though.

how do i return it and get a replacement? It has 1 year warranty right? I just have to relock the boot loader and unroot it?

It will keep happening eventually, I believe they sell a kit to re coat it

Not really you only see it when you wipe the screen as the oil sticks to that part more, once cleaned you don't see it.

Relock your bootloader & unroot it before sending it back.
You have to ring them up tell them your problem they sort out the RMA from there.

Something is wrong with my screen please help

I just noticed today that there is a bright line at the bottom of my screen. Tried changing wallpaper rebooting made no difference. Not sure if its a burned line on the screen now. I have attached a screen shot, any suggestion or test method I can check would be greatly appreciated.

Lol can't see it which means its probably something wrong with your display
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
If it's the display itself that's having a problem, you need to take a pic of it using a camera. A screen shot is just a capture of what's being projected on the screen, not the screen itself.
I had the same problem after a screen replacement on my phone which I originally broke the screen on. I would suggested taking it back to the store for a replacement handset.

Don't think so, I feel your pain mate. Its a line of dead pixels on mine it was really bright then after a few days then typically after about 2 days it changed to a really really faint line which was barely visible.

that's exactly what I have right now. A really bright thin line. this is a canadian bell sg 2 and I have rooted and unlocked with chainfire cf-root using zs kg2 kernel. So I got a yellow triangle that I need to get rid off. Any suggestions? I'm worry about the counter where they may be able to tell that the phone is has been tempered. :-(

Nexus 7 Defects (Software or Hardware)

Well as many of you posted you had flawless Nexus I pulled the trigger but for my horror I got a Lemon.
First I thought I had only the screen lift but after two weeks It have started to develop Screen Flicker and the slightest screen bleed in the right corner... a black pixel line when I open a hard task or its charging something.... the screen not responding and the ghosting :banghead: to my other horror I can't return it cause my father bought it to me and I'm in Mexico so no return but I wanted to know what are Software related and what are hardware related

So the Screen Separation is Hardware as the Screen Bleed
But the flicker, the sudden line that I just see like one a day and the ghosting that goes away with a reboot are all hardware?! The HTC titan had the ghosting too and with an update it went away

Well actually the screen flicker can be fixed by running a script. Look for the thread that says screen washout out fix. It will disable the nvidia smart dimmer. And the screen lift can be fixed' Google it . And not sure what the this "ghosting" is.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Xparent White Tapatalk 2
Well first I don't know if when going from homescreen to homescreen and seeing the icons going from side to side it looks like it leaves a trace behind that disappears after a couple of milliseconds and I don't know if its just an animation or ghosting.....and second is after being in my social homescreen the white parts stay onscreen in the background until I reboot but that only happened once and never again

IIRC you used the clamp and heat method to try and reactivate the glue. Best of luck, but that approach has been temporary for most users.
And you telling him to Google it would almost certainly lead to him fiddling with the screws, which is even less effective than the clamping.
Here is the only fix known to work. It's a delicate procedure and I wouldn't recommend it unless your lift is severe, GalaxyDev.
Sorry for your troubles, but hopefully you can see past these flaws and enjoy the tablet as is. I'm sure this device is a rare sight in Mexico.
The only reason why I considered that is because my screen lift is so minor, its like a hair lifted so my guess is the adhesive needs rebonding.

dark blotch on screen

I just got mine today it is a great phone but then I noticed when I'm on a white screen I see a dark blotch or blur in the center of the screen..i call it a fish eye about the size of a pencil eraser.
Has anyone else seen this ? I'm returning it as soon as my replacement comes hope this isn't a common issue with the nexus and don't want to go through 10 returns before I get a good one.

Don't know if you'll be able to see it from this screen shot.
When you look at it close it looks just like a dimple in the screen behind the glass.

You probably have warped glass from the installation of the panel to the digitizer. One of mine had a bright yellow glue ring about 60-70% down the screen in the middle. Try angling the screen in different lights and see if you notice any wavering... Like a very faint ding on a car. I think whatever machine presses the screens down does it too hard.

White pixel.

I posted last night that there is this really small white dot on my screen. It only visible on light colors like white . But its not visible if the color is really dark. Like on you tube where the search option is it not visible but when i go to Facebook i can see right next to my notification but its small. Anyways is there a way for it to go away? This phone is only like a day old :/ & it was bigger last night but it got smaller because i played a video that repeated blue red and green fast because i heard it make stuck pixel go back to normal.
Also is it a dead pixel or stuck?
Return the phone if you can't live with it.

BDW, OP can u please post the picture of your white case on N4? Or u can PM me the link if u upload elsewhere.
I'd RMA it, pretty sure they'll replace it free of charge. Although it's just a pixel, stuck and/or dead pixels annoy the crap out of me because once you notice them, you can't stop looking at them every damn time!

Depends on Google/LG's interpretation - Samsung don't except anything under 5 pixels as faulty

I just saw a white pixel on the middle of the screen but I can only appreciate it at dark, when screen is black and brightness set to maximum (which I never have on dark environment). Was that an issue for you? I really have to look for it for a while in any other case. Pixels are sooo small. Don't even bother to rma. No other issue with the phone.
I'm thinking it's just a pixel stuck in a grey colour because it so difficult to see.

Weird light bleed problem - please help

hey so i just got my nexus 7 2nd gen and it is somehow lightleeding red?? Anyways i attached some pics, should i return it? It only happens when the screen is black
Nah just let it be.....even if it starts to talk or do jumping jacks.
We must learn to let our tablets be themselves. If it wants to bleed red light dont judge it embrace it and support it.
If it wants to randomly shut off and crack its own screen let it be.
Off course return it lol!!
lol yeah i guess i should but some reported the next one they got was even worse lol. Also i bought from ncix, anyone know if they would take returns from light bleeding?

Just curious, can you show a picture of the normal screen not black but with something displaying?
Is the brightness all the way up?
Is it red looking just from the side? How does it look when using normally? I would return it if it looks messed up under normal use.

Well i think im not gonna return it. Only can be seen on the side and only when its a black screen. After using it for today i did not notice at all when using it. Probably wont be staring at a black screen a lot so i think i should be okay.
That's good news. I'm glad it will be ok for you.
I've never tested mine for lightbleed.
