Hello,
I'm trying to root my RAZR M, following a video named "Droid RAZR HD, Razr Maxx HD, Razr M, Razr I How to Root via Motofail2go by @DjrBliss" on Youtube (I can't post a link since this is my first post on this website).
I think my issue is that I can't get my phone to submit the bug report, it only vibrates once when I hold down these buttons. Does anyone know how I can get it to submit the bug report? Thanks.
Here's a tip: make sure that your volume is not all the way up when submitting the bug report. Also, read the other threads. Most folks replace a few of the apps.

And if after JCO's tip you still cannot root, there is an updated method aside from the motofail2go exploit, thanks to djrbliss. You can get at it HERE.

Had the same problem a while back. Just like the post above me said, make sure your volume is all the way down. Hold the up volume button and power button for about 10 seconds. You should feel a second vibration that is the bug report.

I tried using easyroot on my new Droid 2 and couldn't get it to work. App says it rooted successfully and need to reboot. After a reboot, it tries to root all over. Also, I noticed it says "prepping to root moto droid x". I'm assuming this mistake is related. Perhaps easyroot doesn't support droid 2?
Anyone have an easy way for a noob to root? Clear instructions on doing it manually would be much appreciated. Thanks!

currently there is no gui way to root the D2
I thought the current way was easy. Its all just copy and paste.....
There is a one click solution right in these forums under android development for droid 2..
I am too new of a user or I would supply link.. real easy to find though

Which implementation for "Flash ClockworkModRecovery" should I use with rooted GB 2.3.5, Milestone X, C-Spire (Cellular South)?
Droid X or Droid 2?
Thanks.
pretty sure that it is droid 2 droid x
Nothing (none of the options w/ uninstall and wiping of the Clockwork Folder) worked, then I got "DROID X Bootstrapper" from a MegaDownload or something similar
and
made my first backup. Great!
Now to tackle Custom ROMS and pitfalls. I still need to efficiently get to SBF my phone back to FROYO for security.
Definitely DROID X Bootstrapper from market......worth the money impo..
on gingerbread with the x... droid 2 bootstrap actually works better... so when ya buy one to support the dev... get droid 2 bootstrap... so you can keep usb debugging enabled...
Good to know Nemo.... Wait a minute, hell, I'm using debugging right now with the first 1.....???? What's up with that?

I tried the zergrush root but my phone would not down load. It kept saying that the down load was unsuccessful or that it failed. My phone was rooted before but when I did the update it messed up. Help. Im new to all this and still trying to learn.
That isn't an application you use on your phone...
And .zips won't download with the stock browser, is your problem.
Download it to your PC and run it with your phone plugged in.

Honestly with a locked bootloader progress will be very slow. It's the one thing keeping me from trading in my s3 for one, I love the smaller size.

Looks like Hashcode may be working on CWM for the Razr HD and possible Razr M at some point. From his Twitter @Hashcode0f yesterday:
"sent me over everything I need to start working on a Safestrap for the RAZR-HD. I can probably do a build for RAZR-M as well."
If you don't know Hashcode he is an amazing dev that has Safetrap (which is a method to install CWM/TWRP on Motorolas with locked bootloaders) working on the Droid 3, 4, Bionic and OG Razr. Along with some help from others he has also got kexec working on these devices which allows you to bypass the locked bootloader and load a custom kernel.

The M is a great phone. I haven't used the HD yet but I hear a lot of good stuff about it. I just like the look of the M and the screen size. I can't wait until some new ROMs come out for it.

Follow Hashcode0f on Twitter for updates. On the 24th he when someone asked his about safe strap for the Razr M he said: "Yes. Working on some bugs with the new splashscreen supporting softkeys." He recently switched to TWRP instead of CWM for Safestrap so it sounds like he is working on that for the Razr M and I imagine the HD eventually. Hashcodes working on a bunch of devices, Kindle Fire, Droid 3, Bionic, Razr, Droid 4, and sounds like he's starting on more. Droid 3 users were left on GB with a locked bootloader and he has been able to, with the help of others, use a kexec bootloader bypass to give us a 3.x custom kernel and CM9/CM10.
I've been watching the Razr M forums, because I'm thinking it will be my next phone. I can't stand all of these large phones, I want something pocketable, but with decent specs and build quality. I've been impressed with the build quality and radios on Motorola hardware, not so impressed with the lack of software updates, but I think with new management that is going to change. The Razr M is the only phone I've seen in a while on Verizon that fits my requirements.

Aussie M user here (GSM not CDMA) but I can tell you that you won't be sorry its the best phone I"ve ever owned (and I had a N1! lol)
You can also follow dhacker29 on Twitter. He is another Motorola dev that has recently begun working with the Razr M. He has a developer edition with a custom kernel booted as seen here:
http://via.me/-6cs9kag
He mentioned making his work available on the locked Ms someday. If they can get the kexec bootloader bypass working with safestrap then the locked Razr Ms will become a lot more dev friendly.
clockwork recovery
I have Droid razr m 4.1.1 (Rooted)
am looking for clockwork recovery mode
So that I may...
1. backup and save current rom.
2. Install and use other rom's.
It's a headache searching endless forms for proper link that gives download.
If anyone can help and post a reply. It would be p.I.m.p

safestrap does that for you. it allows you to backup your current system with various ROM slots.
I know how to RSD, I've done it before... Just not with the RAZR M. And from what I understand, it's called XML now...
I'm looking here http://sbf.droid-developers.org/scorpion_mini_xt907/list.php for XML files, but I don't want to install one that will prevent me from unlocking the bootloader... My RAZR M came with 98.16.1, which I think is 4.1.2.
I would be very grateful if someone would help me, I'm sure if I googled enough I could figure it out, I just really don't know what I'm doing here, first day with the RAZR M. Thank you!

I'm pretty sure the update is .78. However, just unlock the bootloader now, and you'll be safe.
Thank you.
Yes, for anyone that visits this thread, that linked update was the one I needed (98.16.1 I'm guessing since that's what it came with), RSD lite took it and the update worked.
It seemed to hang on flashing system, just give it 5 minutes or so!
Sent from my XT907 using xda app-developers app
Two things to keep in mind, once the phone has been unlocked, it cannot be undone, and once it has been updated to .78, you cannot unlock the boot loader if you did not do so prior to the update. You can't simply RSD back to the older version and unlock it later if you change your mind.
Sent from my Droid Razr M using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Thanks, I knew enough to avoid the 78 update, but I didn't know RSDing didn't relock the boot loader!
