[Q] stuck in google logo

Hi,
I am using cynogenmod 7.1.0 RC 1.5 -jordan
I am stuck in Google logo why playing with recovery.
I read that I need to flash with sbf in boot to get back to normal
I have a problem since I am in 2.3.5 how can flash
with JRDNEM_U3_3.4.3-36-1.7.sbf
This isn't the above sbf is 2.3.4 ?? or I am missing something ?
I have got this sbf from defy wiki
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093352
I have another question how can I CG version ?

You are stuck in bootloop since you didn't do a clean wipe before flashing the SBF.
Press and hold Vol- and Power button. When you get to the android with yellow exclamation mark, press Vol- and Vol+ simultaneously and then wipe data/cache.
Done!
If I was getting a dime every time I have given this solution, I'd be driving a Ferrari by now

You can't. 2.3.5 is BL6 (I believe) and you want to go back to a BL4 sbf - no way.
did all you have said .
cleared cache and clear data still not booting beyond google logo
what to do now ?
"I have pressed stock recovery when I end up like this"
one more thing blue light appears and than all the below touch button flash once..
Since I can't go back and flash above sbf.
with what can I flash ??
Questions go in the Q&A section

2.3.5 is Gingerbread kernel based and CM 7.1 - Froyo-based (as far as I can remember). Since you see the blue light, this means you have access to the boot menu and recovery mode, so just flash a GB kerne-based ROM and your phone will be fine. You can flash MS2Ginger by Walter79, for example, or you can flash Quarx's CM9 ICS builds (follow my tutorial in Defy General section)
Struck at the google logo. Nothing works after that. Tried with rsd but battery went down and unable to load Sbf.

I too have this problem few weeks ago when I try about 6 ROMs.
I remember I forgot to wipe data and dalvik at the time of installing WIUI ROM and I have different recovery play with.
So just do one ... 1. In the recovery section go to the custom recovery and try wipe cache, and dalvik and them reboot.
2. If above step doesnt work them at the time when mobile starts .. then you see blue light glowing for some seconds ,,, when you see it press " volume down button ". you see again a stock recovery menu. In that do wipe cache and dalvik and then reboot.
In the 2nd method at the time of recovery if you see cant mount cache before wiping then may be you have to do RSD Lite procedure.
RSD lite and SBF :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093352
it a simple procedure. Just follow steps and you come with your official foryo 2.2.2
After that you can again install custom ROM.
Because it happens to me also. My phone shows me that there is no space in my mobile i.e phone memory is full.
So so RSD lite procedure and again back to froyo and then again install 4.1.1. jelly bean and now everything work good.

[Solved] bricked defy Step by Step Walkthrough

Original message
:I need some serious help.
I tryed to flash custom 2.3.6 fixed sbf.
which didnt end well, after powerup i would go straight to bootloader with err codes.
so tryed to flash another stock SBF, that ended me in inifinte bootloop with android logo. after 20 minutes in bootloop i gave up and flashed another stock SBF this time it was cellcom israel sbf, it finished the flashing succesfully but now the phone wont powerup at all. not bootloader not recovey.
nada...
I really need your help here, any kind of insights will help. please this is urgent.
BTW: this is a red lense defy, last rom was JB 4.1.1 quarx 30.07 build.
the sbf was supposed to have the same rom.
update 1: managed to finally flash stock, cant enable 3g. phone is still rooted, installing superuser is succesfuly but doesnt control attributes. so 2ndinit currently does not work,

UPDATE 16/11/2012: links check and updated everything should work.
Solution:
1. first get these files as we'll need all of them: Rsd lite (download and install that),
Motorola drivers (download and install: Here)
JORDN_U3_97.21.51.rar(contains sbf file): http://www.4shared.com/get/xzT3dMXv/JORDN_U3_972151.html
firmware.rar(contains another sbf file): http://www.4shared.com/rar/Ytt5O6--/firmware.html
2ndinit 1.4.2, and 2ndinit 2.3 (can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032212).
also need the nandroid backup: http://www.4shared.com/file/pVQfB4bF/2011-06-11141427.html
[Optional]
superuser.zip file installing from recovery: http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/Superuser-3.2-arm-signed.zip
2. [Optional] I didn't have a router at my house and no signal at my phone and i needed internet for 2ndinit, so i installed a program that turns my wifi on the computer into a hotspot, it can be found here: http://www.connectify.me/
3.First shutdown your phone, hold the Vol down and boot the phone up keeping the volume down pressed. you should come up to a triangle android logo, press the vol up and down key and then tap the screen ( this is a touch screen gui), choose the wipe data/cache and press ok, this should take up to 5 minutes.
4. Now, shut down the phone (pull the battery out and return it back in), Hold the Vol Up button and power up your phone.
you will enter the Bootloader (or BL as its called in the forums) and you should see the phone stating that (usually 9.10 version)
5. after installing Rsd lite, launch it, extract the JORDN_U3_97.21.51.rar and firmware.rar files into root directory (C:\ or D:\ or whatever).
in rsdlite press the
...
Click to collapse
button and choose the JORDN_U3_97.21.51.sbf file.
connect your phone via a usb cable to your computer, the phone should state its connected. and you should see on the rsdlite window that a device is connected, click on it and press the button :"start".
let it finish and boot on itself (it should do that).
6. [Optional] if you started with low battery now is a good time to charge your phone.
7. transfer the 2ndinit 1.4.2 apk and the 2ndinit 2.3 apk into a folder in your sd card (name it "A" for ease of use).
also extract the 2011-06-11.14.14.27.zip into this folder on your sd card "/clockworkmod/backup/"
8. extract the superoneclick on your computer and launch it, while the phone is connected (should also be in usb debugging mode), press the root button in the superoneclick window and watch the magic, make sure you also install busybox (should be installed automatically when pressing the ROOT button).
9. disconnect your phone, use the file explorer provided with this rom and make sure you check with a "V" to "allow 3rd party apps" in the settings. install the 2ndinit1.4.2.apk file.
open the app after installation and make sure you have internet connectivity, press the install bootmenu option.(now pop-ups should appear regarding permissions, choose "allow" for all of them).
after the green led has turned on, go to settings menu under application/development and turn off the "usb debugging mode".
10. restart your phone and make sure you press the vol down button when the led turns blue during the bootup.
when in bootmenu, choose recovery-> custom recovery.
when in recovery, choose "wipe data/factory reset", "wipe cache", "advanced-> wipe dalvik".
now return to recovery menu and choose "backup/restore"->"restore->2011-06-11.14.14.27".
this should take a couple of minutes.
when its done, go back again to recovery menu, and choose again "wipe cache", "advanced-> wipe dalvik".
power off the phone.
11. hold the vol up button once again and power up the phone to go into bootloader screen.
connect your phone once again to your computer and on the rsdlite window choose the "firmware.sbf" file.
press start and flash it.
12. let the phone boot up, congrats you just revived your phone, root it once again using super one click (if needed), install the 2ndinit2.3.apk.
transfer whatever rom you like (dont try sbf's cause that's how I first got in this mess), reboot phone, go into stock recovery and install that zip after wiping data/factory reset. and ohh well you know the rest.
Good luck.
P.S if you can't or dont know where to find the files take a quick search in the forums and youll find most of them.

when i flash firmware.sbs it takes me back to Android Bootmenu when it reboots please help. thanks
Shouldnt happen, make sure you Wipe Data, and cache, before the nandroid backup and after the nandroid backup.
only then u can flash the firmware.sbf
if the bootmenu still comes up simply choose "Boot-> set default-> normal". and reboot.
if still comes back to bootmenu (and i hope you are talking about bootmenu and not bootloader). install through custom recovery your favorite ROM and don't forget the corresponding Kernel.
good luck!
Is that work with bl7 ???
I've been trying to restore my phone for weeks, up until this thread, I started to think the internet couldn't help me. You are a god amongst men.
OK, banging my head against a wall here; I have 2 defy's. Mine has been to a war zone 4 times, I've replaced the screen (and the waterproof gasket) once, It's broken (the case) but still works except for the fact that the last time I had to flash an sbf I messed up the charging ability with the "macguyver" method.
Now I recently got a pristine looking red lens defy from a friend who said it wasn't booting...It "tried" but never stayed booted long. I tried immediately flashing one of the fixed sbf's with CM10 on it, and ever since I get the bootloader 09.10 code corrupt message.
I've tried the method listed here (by the way the first firmware in OP won't download for me, something about violating some terms of agreement?) the one labeled simply "firmware" downloaded.
Still no joy. Every flash I get all the way through code group 32 checksums match. Everything after that fails. Have tried multiple CEE, Nordic, Chinese, even Defy+ sbf (the new defy has red lens) with no luck.
Likewise when I tried flashing via linux (sbf_flash). The other night after battery out for quite awhile it led me to believe it had started working, and allowed me to get into recovery and wipe everything, but it was all false hope. It still did not boot (motorola M boot loop) and likewise, it still did not flash.
Anyone have any ideas how I can proceed to fix this thing?
I thought I had this thing figured out but obviously I was mistaken.
thanks in advance
I just unbricked my phone again yesterday after trying the latest cm10 sbf with no luck, so i can guarantee this method still works, however the firmware.sbf file is really needed and also the nandroid backup, so here's what i'll do:
1. i'll check what links are broken and reupload the necassery files.
2. I'll clean the the first message and update the links
so check back in about an hour
Thanks a lot for posting this. Tried to restore my phone using lot of other posts since the last 3 to 4 days days, but all in vain.
Was anybody able to install CM10 over this? After the installation, the phone is going into boot loop.
Thanks rtk217 for starting this guide very useful for noobs...
I've made some video tutorials using a few of the guides in the forums here...
hope it helps someone...

I am really not sure if you have read the posts properly. I had no problems in flashing the defy plus sbf. The defy plus sbf that I gave you was a bl6 version and you can never downgrade to froyo.
97.21.51 is a Chinese éclair with bl5. 2nd boot builds were not working on bl5.

try to do a hard reset on your Defy!!!
wipe Data/Factory settings,
wipe cache
reboot

my defy is die after I reflash original sbf.

Hi guy,
does any one know how to back to original defy wtih sbf files? because my defy stop at Android logo. In addition, I think my problem at MIUI defy V5 because after I installed V5. I dont like it, so I use RLDs to recover my defy with SBF.
Environment and duplicate steps
MB525 (green camera)
1 - Reboot the phone when you see the blue LED volume press the button below to enter the bootmenu.
2 - Now we enter the Custom recovery
Custom recovery:
A - Wipe data
B - Wipe cache
C - install the rom and Reboot (MIUI V5 Defy/Defy+ 17.5.2013 Quarx Based on 11.5.2013 /Miui Defy/Defy V5 Optimization)
3 - Use one or two hour, then I dont like MIUI v5, so I go to wipe date and cache again under recovery mode, then defy stop at Moto's logo.
4 - I used JRDNEM_U3_3.4.3-36-1.7_CHINESE_SIGN...to reflash by RSD lite.
5 - The Defy stop at Android logo. ( I dont have any idea now. because usually reflash SBF is work for me.)

Thank you Yzeroy,
Android logo is second picture when you power on defy. (ex: first picture is Moto logo. second logo is Android logo)
Ok, as you said you came from MIUI v5 ( whitch is CM10) it uses EXT4 as primary partition format for data and cache ... solution si simple and easy ....
1. Turn off you mobile ....
2. Boot up Defy with POWER button and VOLUME down button pressed together
3. DO factory reset and reboot
Now it should boot
haha, I fixed this problem now, and I know the root cause. anyway, thank you very much
the root cause:
should be need to wipe date and cache again.

[Urgent help] I really need a Dev. Seriously.

Hello guys! This is my first post so please don't hate me.
I have an old Defy which I need to use because my current smartphone is broken. But I have some problems:
My Defy is a MB525 but months ago I've flashed an MB526 (Defy +) SBF and since then my Defy became a Defy+. The problem is: It's stucked on bootloop (M of death) and I CAN'T GET TO STOCK RECOVERY.
I try everything:
- Flashed all Defy MB525 SBFs = white led (of death) and screen off
- Flashed a lot of Defy + SBFs = only one "worked". It's the DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-231_CN_SIGN_UCADEFYEMARAB1B50AA009.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNGIBRIRD15_P015_A030_Service1FF this rom is the only one who makes my phone boot.. into a bootloop without stock recovery.
I don't have problems to recognize the phone on RSD Lite, my drivers are up to date and my battery is 100% (universal charger for hours). I try to revive this phone almost everyday. I'm using a Defy MB525 (used to be a Claro Brazil rom) with a MB526 rom and BL 7. I remember that one day I was able to flash a chinese rom and the system used to boot, but I couldn't get more than five minutes of use, the system crashed and rebooted. Don't know if this is important but anyway.
I just need to get to the stock recovery. I'm beggin you guys to help me because I really don't know what else to do.
Thanks very much for your understanding I'll be very glad if someone help me out.
Best regards.
PS: I really need your help DEVs, I'm not a noob but this is beyond my comprehension :crying:
Have you tried going to stock recovery after flashing DFP-231? It's not possible that the stock recovery is missing. Switch off the Defy, hold the power and volume down buttons simultaneously till a triangle with a ! mark appears. Then press both volume up and volume down simultaneously to get stock recovery. Then wipe data and cache and try again. If it still doesn't work, it looks like a hardware problem.

0. read beginners guide
1. charge battery (ext. charger)
2. factory reset from stock recovery if possible
2a. if not flash dfp-231.sbf (may end in bootloop)
2b. wipe data in stock recovery (should work now)
3. reboot
now you can root , install recovery

Guys I REALLY cannot go to the stock. Seriously I don't know why. I know how it works and it really seems like missing! I'm doing everything right!! It's a dead end :crying::crying::crying::crying:
Is there any way to flash only the recovery apart from a full SBF? I read about ADB also. If I could make ADB see my device when it's in bootload I could try some commands, right? But I think ADB just works when the phone is alread booted.
Thanks again for your help DEVs!
sorry for double post
Hey guys I figurated something! My defy only boots (into the bootloop) to this four Defy + SBFs. They are all BL 7 I think.
4.5.1-134_DFP-188
4.5.1-134_DFP-231
4.5.1-134_DFP-2311
4.5.1-134_DFP-2312
Any other SBF (MB525 or MB526) get me to the black screen and white led.
Don't know if this helps but anyway.. Still not able to go to the recovery.
Those SBFs are BL7s. Anyways, if you're not able to enter stock recovery then most probably you're doing something wrong. Watch some videos on YouTube on how to enter stock recovery. It is simply impossible for the stock recovery to be "missing". I may be able to help you on hangouts though.

bro,
have you faced any defects in volume controll previously.
It may be due to faulty volume switch, which essentialy need to enter recovery.

Hotdog I really appreciate your concern but I'm doing it right, seriously. I know that when you boot to the recovery a green android with an exclamation point appears, and then you press vol up + vol down BUT I CAN'T GET THERE. THERE IS NO ROBOT. NO LIVE. NO HOPE :crying:
Sorry I'm a sentimental mood I love this phone so much. I'll try to record the defy boot with my lazy webcam later

Hey bro! The vol buttons are working because sunday I flashed a "fixed sbf" based on my DFP-231 SBF and try to go to the stock recovery but instead it lead me to a bootloader failure. It means that the command was sent, but the system was corrupted.
I was thinking about "mixing" a NANDROID with this SBF and flash it via RSD LITE, is it really possible? I was able to mix SBFs before, it changed the M logo but lead me to the same "bootloader error"..

Lame webcam record
Hey guys!! I made that video showing that I have no recovery. I know, there is no quality in this video because its an old (very old) webcam. Anyway the first time I try to go to recovery and the second I enter on the bootloader to show that the buttons are ok

That URL is for some other video?. Anyway, I found the video in question. It looks as if volume down isn't working, so I guess the fault is with the volume button. Most probably the bootloop will be fixed by a data wipe in stock recovery.

Sorry I fixed the video right now. The button is working, I make sure of that. **** it, guess this fancy brick with a M letter is all I got.
Anyway thanks for your support guys. I've discovered something in my unbrick mission: I learned that Linux is a great operating system, better then windows, and will probably be my primary OS from now on.
