Transparent notification and nav bars - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
With the unlocking off our bootloader, I an eagerly waiting fort an opportunity to put cm10 (or cm10.1 when it's ready) on my phone.
One silly aesthetic thing I like in stock Jb us the semi-transparent nav bar and notification bar. I had cm10 on my old defy, but there wasn't a way to get that transparent effect. Anyone know if there's a way to get it on RAZR m cm10?
Thanks

If you don't mind a little bit of work.
[MOD][DEV] Motorola style Transparent NavBar [JOP40D]

thanks,
i don't have the capability (or knowledge) compile it myself. I was hoping there may be a file to flash, or a new setting in cm10 coming.
Hopefully by the time i get around to changing stock to cm10(.1) i'll be able to compile my own stuff too (or someone will have made a file to easily flash. . . )

Transparent Notification Bar?

Hello, I'm fairly new to the whole customization thing. I've got a rooted Droid 1 and am running UltimateDroid 2.0 right now. After looking at some of the posts on digitalvanity.me, I've taken more and more liking to transparent notification bars.
In order to implement this, would I have to go in manually and play around with this? My only fear is that since I'm not as experienced as others that I might accidentally mess up and brick it.
Any advice?

As long as you do a nandroid backup you shouldn't have too much to worry about but anything you do to customize, you run that risk. I would experiment with other ROMs to find the look your going for, personally I like cyanogen mod and liquids ROMs the best but they all have their benifits and draw backs. Good Luck and welcome to the world of modification.

You could try the Ultimate Online Theme Kitchen (Thread in android theming forum) - would involve taking your framwork-res.apk from your phone and uploading it and using the options to make the status bar matte or solid black.
Otherwise, maybe try a Sense-based rom, pick a skin that has the solid black status bar, then change over to your launcher of choice (or stay on Sense)
I have never used a sense-less rom, so I can't speak to that.

Tell me which version your running and I can make you an update zip that will give you the all black status bar. It just won't be for about 2 hours till I get to my PC.

[Q] Extend Wallpaper under Status Bar and Softkeys?

Is there any means to extend the wallpaper underneath the Status Bar and Softkeys? I dislike the black banding, especially under the Softkeys. I know Paranoid Android does this but one reason I bought a Nexus was to get out of ROMs--plus I'd rather not waste space on ROM backups.
I have root and the willingness to muck about in the system APKs.
Bump.

Or, I could ask and see if any developer who already knows how this is done in Paranoid Android will tell me.
I would like to do this as well... is it possible without a custom ROM?
it needs framework modifications, but mods exist. evilisto made one if i remember that right.
i dunno why you would want one over a rom though. makes no sense. roms on nexus base on aosp and official vendors blobs. what you get is stock android plus features. you cannot compare it to roms on legacy devices which emulate android, need hacks and exploits.
ps. PA has per app coloring. this goes way past simple transparent bar on the homescreen.

Transparent status bar and gallery Wallpaper.

Hi all, couldn't find a thread for this subject.
I like the transparent statusbar and I understand that when using apps or in certain screens it will be black but when I crop an image to use as a wallpaper shouldn't it be fullscreen ratio? On the stock wallpapers it is transparent but with a custom image it's black. Not sure if there's anything I can do as I'm no dev, but if anyone knows of a solution I'd like to hear it.
Thanks
Running rooted telus stock.

Samsung has a new update that has the transparent notification.
I make my own custom wallpaper. It shows up transparent just fine. I am/was confused about the transparent fix Samsung announced.
Currently I have a picture of grass I took. The picture was taken with the phone camera. The stock wallpaper app seems to do a good job cropping.
On the laptop using GIMP I crop and scale to 1920x1920 300 DPI. Canvas adjust to 1080x1080. Then Image size to 1920x1920 300dpi.
First screenshot is the grass background I made in GIMP. Second is a dandelion picture I captured and cropped on phone. They both have a transparent notification bar. Hence my confusion.

Ah, well... I am running rooted stock and when I go to update software I get toasted with something like "this device has been modified. There are no updates available" any way to fool it into thinking I have unmodified binaries or am I going to have to get on a custom rom to stay updated? I have put a lot of work into build.prop tweaks, init.d scripts, audio/visual mods, etc....it's just that the opaque status bar is a little thing that irks me. I also am a little bummed out knowing that I'm missing out on some cool little updates.

The new update has only been released to the Germany T-Mobile AFAIK. There are a couple custom ROM based on it using the transparent notification. If you want to keep root and a recovery, I would not recommend flashing anything from AT&T since its rumor they are working on a fix for that...

Yeah. Att doesn't work so well for me anyway. I have to flash a jfltecan kernel with any att rom I've found or I get stuck in bootloop and I'm worried about a potential bricking. Either way I don't like having att posted all over my telus phone so I steer clear. There are some cool telus based roms but I like to try and figure the mods out or at least ask around for reading material to help me.

Err . I didn't mean to add ATT crap in there since I saw the M on your sig... opps, its a habit
You can flash I9505 ROMs from what I have read. Not sure about your carriers track record in releasing updates in a timely manner (ATT sucks about that). Have you checked out the I9505 threads? Just make sure its I9505 Qualcomm and not the Octa-core I9500.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2303125
Btw anybody notice this? I found it in the i9505 thread. It says it should work on any variant but I think I might be doing something wrong when manually editing build.prop because it hangs at the Samsung logo boot animation forever. When flashing the zips it says editing build.prop so maybe the manual edit is unnecessary? If I get it working I'll let anybody interested know, likewise if anybody else takes interest and can make it work let me know how.
(Edit) this doesn't work according to multiple people in the thread. Sorry for wasted space.

Yeah. I would like to keep my stock base though, like I say looking to do mostly my own mods. Unless I can find something that I can't live without my daily driver will be telus base. Thanks though.

If anybody was having the same problem as I was in my OP I found the solution for me. Not taking any credit just posting a link.
So I tried this out with i377m jfltecan s4. Works with all my gallery pics. Just flash the 9505 version.

Why don't you just install NottachXposed? - it'll allow you to set whatever transparency you want for the status bar...and much more.

Have you tried the last 2.1.4 version? Any version prior to this soft bricks our S4!!!
I'm also using the stock Canadian on a SGH-I337M and I've never had any problems installing XposedFramework + many modules
No I got it to work. I was getting a parse error. I just installed it a different way. Don't remember what I was doing wrong but it works now. Thanks buddy, it's doing most the stuff I wanted to do.

Hey, before I flashed a Kit Kat ROM I was using CM 10.2 running Android 4.3.1 and came across a great way to make your status bar transparent, completely black, or any color you like, etc. All the directions are in here and it does require a rooted device, which I'm guessing you have. Here's the link to what I used, best of luck! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2316070
Thanx for great answer but I was asking about doing this on a touchwiz rom. I like aosp roms more but I tried 3 different ones and I didn't have the same signal strength as I did with touchwiz roms including data speeds being a lot slower. I just want to get rid of the stupid quick toggles that touchwiz put in the status bar if you can help me that would be great.Thanx for the help again

This should work on a Touchwiz Rom, but I don't know about how you would remove the quick toggles, sorry I misunderstood you :/
