[Solved] Text To Speech - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

I have searched hard but I am unable to find an option of Text To Speech in a custom ROM.
I have tried three ROMs, but none of them is having TTS. The custom ROMs don't support this feature.

Also there is no TTS setting available in the Settings menu.

have you checked your accessibility settings?
a system app called TTS Service.apk is needed, maybe you deleted or removed it

I haven't removed any of such .apk. Well I'll try to google it and install it via system app installer to see if it sorts out my problem.
And all options are ticked in accessibility settings.

I have checked, it is present in my phone. But it doesn't function. Also there is no option of TTS in settings menu.

TTS is in accessiblity settings of your phone

Not there, in the accessibility option. Only installed apk is present. It is in the system.
I have Googled a lot before posting here. Hope it gets solved here.

I have it already and a dozen other similar apps.
The problem is they all require me to go to the TTS settings to change the default output method. When I do this, the settings force close. I have tried everything. Installed other apps, pushed TTS Service.apk again into the system from another ROM. None Worked!

[Q] help with google now

SOLVED
Hi, I have a problem with Google Now. The search doesn't initiate when i say "google". I have to tap the microphone to initiate a voice search. I saw a solution on the Galaxy Nexus forum by disabling or uninstalling Lightflow, but that hasn't worked. I wonder if I'm missing a file or something? It used to work when my phone was stock, however now it's running Axi0m w/ AK kernel, CM GApps. Does anyone have an idea to get this feature working again? Or because I'm on custom ROM am I out of luck? Thanks!!
bump
First, check voice language option in Google Now settings. It has to be set to English (US).
Second, which description do you see in search field? "Search" or "Search, or say Google"?
Okay, the language is set to English (US). The search field says "search". Even after cache wipe and reboot, still says "search".
If you don't have the hotword detection option under google now settings > voice, then go into 'Download offline speech recognition' and download it. Then you should have the option -- enable it if it isn't already.
That's the ticket. It worked! Thank you guys for your help!

[APP] Android L Launcher

Just wanted to mention that the official Android L launcher works on our Tabs
I have attached the .apk
You have to change the build.prop to get the new UI
set ro.build.version.codename to L and reboot
It works also as a system app, no FC's.
Supports 4.2.2 / 4.3 / 4.4.2
Note: You have to update/download the latest Google Search app and Google Mail may force closing
Proceed with caution, you may end up having boot-loops !

good to know, thanks!
Not quite...
UA,
hi i would ask that you amend your post to mention this launcher requires google search to be functional.
As per your instructions I did so and the launcher does not register as system app without google search,
and on regular install call for updated google search to function.
thank you for reading.

When you say, "set it to L", you ARE referring to the property value under where it says ro.build.etc.... correct?

Yes, you have to set the value for ro.build.version.codename to the letter L.
PHP:
ro.build.version.codename=L

gt-5200, 4.4.2 deodexed stock...
No i did not, i just installed given apk (it updated current google now launcher), and changed build.prop
anyway, i tryed to fix premisions, and delete the google launcher from the app folder from recovery, but still rebooting continued.
and while trying to fix the build.prop from the recovery, i funked the system a bit, so a reflashed the whole rom again, so I'm back at the begining... (no new launcher, but tab works fine...)

It seems like, you screwed up inside the build.prop
Or, it only works as a system app on 4.4.2, that would be bad.
I will check that, thank you for trying and sorry if you got any problems because of me.

well, i used root explorer to edit build.prop, and i didnt change anything except switch REL with L...
but i guess build.prop was screwed somehow, it managed to stay on for a while before the reboot a few times (for about half a minute), but it kept giving the fc error screens for play services, mail, etc, and then restarted again.
I will try it in a few minutes!

When first time I installed this launcher I changed the build.prob as u said....
And after a week I came to know that gmail is get fc's every time
I saw the log of gmail and came to know that the changes made in the build.prob coz of that gmail app getting fc...
Then I changed it to og value in build.prob
From then everything is working totally fine

Help please!

So yesterday I was browsing the Google Play Store when I noticed Google keyboard wasn't installed even though I have it so I attempt to install it again and it failed. I thought it was just a bug so I left it and the next day when I restarted my phone Google keyboard just disappeared. I can't use it anymore I can only third-party keyboard from playstore. Help please I need to get Google keyboard back because I'm so far not liking third-party keyboard. I don't know what I did wrong but tried to fix it by wiping system data and reflash the ROM and G apps but that didn't fix it. So please help me fix this problem thank you in advance.

It says "this app conflict with the existing app by the same name" Google keyboard doesn't show up on titanium backup though.
In your apps settings, check for disabled apps and see if it's there to reenable

How do I do that I'm running cm 14.1 android 7.1 and I don't see that option. BTW if I select show system apps, it's not in there either. BTW I just tested, disable apps will show up on titanium back-up as frozen and a option to defrost but google keyboard isn't even in titanium back-up.

MicroG/Tingle Lineage OS installed; no push notifications but the errors for GPS gone

I have the MicroG apps, as well as tingle on my Moto G4 Play.
For apps that require Google Play Services (Protonmail, Nextdoor, etc), the "missing Google Play Services" errors are gone, but I still don't receive push notifications. Nextdoor app simply crashes with the error "Nextdoor has stopped - Open app again or Mute until device restarts"
This thread regarding Unifiedlp is similar to what I see occurring in Microg: https://github.com/ale5000-git/tingle/issues/23
The dev states, "This usually happen when you install the app as user app, on Android 7+ it should be installed as system app" - can any one point me to info on how to do that?
This is my first time installing a new OS to a phone.

I already installed microg & tingle on my device; I can uninstall the microg apps to use this, but how do I uninstall tingle (I don;t see any presence for it)?
Will this installer simply overwrite/ignore anything that already exists?
I think there may simply be a setting I'm overlooking, perhaps.. like, unifiedlp is all unticked in the self-check, but the app shows under settings, so it exists and is installed.
Not sure what else to check

Tingle isn't a thing that can be installed, it simply patch a file on the device.
It is needed for microG so if you use it, I suggest to NOT undo the patch.

Yes, the installer will simply overwrite anything that already exists (except if you have already installed microG on the /system with custom filenames but it is unlikely).
Thanks to the Signal messaging app, I clued in on what I was doing wrong.
If anyone else researching this issue stumbles across this, here's what fixed it:
1) Update the affected app, if updates are available
2) microG Settings -> Google Cloud Messaging: Enable, not sure if I needed Google device registration, but I enabled it, too; as well as Google SafetyNet
Today I received my first notification from one of the apps I was struggling with. Nothing for Protonmail yet, though.

SafetyNet isn't needed for most apps.
If you use Push notifications you must enable Google device registration and Google Cloud Messaging.
Reinstall all the apps installed before microG (it is needed to get the permissions); also in case an app don't have working push notification you must also delete its app data.

Thank you very much for the explanations!! Super helpful! Proton hasn't updated/reinstalled since I installed microG; uninstalling now.
I disabled SafetyNet.

Where can I do that, or is it done automatically upon uninstall?

It is in the Android settings inside Apps, but if you uninstall it will also clear data.

Google Keyboard doesn't autocorrect or show predictions

I'm using the Google Keyboard 7.8 (but I've also tried older versions) and with all the same problem: the auto correct text or show predictions does not work (obviously I tried all the settings and reset the application many times).
Can anyone tell me how to solve?
Thank you.
Open beta 10 - xXx rom
(Re)download the language pack(s). It will fix the issue.
Edit: or go to GBoard > Language, select English instead of the default Use system language.
Just select your language manually, it will download a dictionary for it
Thanks, but it did not work ...
