Ok I dont know if anyone else has this problem but its really annoying.
I just unlocked and rooted my Nexus 7 yesterday. My problem is that my Wifi sleep policy isnt honored. I like keeping it on "Always" so I recieve notifications and such. No matter what I try doing the wifi always turns off when the device is in sleep (Device is locked and screen is off). Ive tried countless Wifi keep alive apps and wifi fixers but nothing seems to work. Its terribly annoying and I hope someone can help. Also just out of coincedence I put my nexus 7 into safe mode and this problem didnt arise.
Plllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeaaaaaassssssseeeeeee help me I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
Do you have 'battery saver' apps installed?
settings->wifi->uncheck optimize wifi, check always keep wifi on (or something like that)
or
theres an option in trickster mod app from google play store that also forces the wifi to stay on when the device is asleep.
not sure if these options are one in the same but hey worth a try i guess
Yes battery saver apps might creating problem,it happened with me,so I removed them.

Hey Guys,
I have a problem with my N4 which is making me crazy and i don't know what to do:
When i am at home and my phone has WLAN, most of the times whatsapp massages are not arriving anymore!
As soon as is get the phone out of sleep they are arriving in an insant!
WLAN deactiviation when sleep is off and even wlan optimization is off too
I had an iphone before and never had these problems here...
So what to do? I even flashed factory image again and started all new without anything else but whatsapp installed but it didn't help!
Thanks for your help :good:
From what I read this only happens on the stock firmware. I'm on CM10.1 and don't have the issue.
I had a similar issues on my Galaxy Nexus.
What helped at first was downloading and installing his widget posted in the OP of this thread. The WIFi High performance Widget.

If that's the case it's kernel related.
Big thread on it in the 'nexus 4 general' section, it's annoying many of us. Make sure to follow the link and make your complaint known to google too.
A workaround is to set wifi to turn off in sleep mode and have 2g (more battery friendly) on to pick up notifications, to wake the phone up.
Used to happen more often, but after I flashed PA, I don't have this issue anymore on 3G, on WiFi sometimes..

Yh Im having the same problem since I updated to 4.2.2.. When I first had my device and it was on 4.2.1 there were also delays but then somehow, (maybe because I rooted it?) the problem went away.
Great guys thank you very much!!!!!
I just installed the fix and it seems to work fine right now :good:

Installed the CWM zip file.. n4-wifi-sleepfix-mcast_and_bcast.zip
Seems to work great :good:
XDA is just amazing . :victory::victory::victory::victory:
Maybe add solved to the title of the screen . Might help some people ....
EDIT: Just read a thread that was 4 days old that says the issue still exists unless using a specific kernel that fixes it. Mods can delete.
Bug is still here.
I haven't experienced the bug. Only had my Nexus for four days though. Maybe I'm just lucky.
The bug is still around, but it seems to depend on the model of router that you have - i.e. some people get it, some don't.

just tested to make sure and waited 10 minutes after missus sent me a whatsapp... nothing, turn on the screen and up it pops
using a very common dlink dir-615 router which works fine with every other phone in the house, 3 varying slackberries and 2 sammy and htc androids.. just the two nexus 4s crap out.
gone back to using 2g while the screens off
4.2.2 stock kernel
bug exists
4.2.2 Franco Kernel r116

bug exists
yesterday 30min. delay on whatsapp messags
:crying:
When I'm at home my phone is always connected to Wi-Fi and pretty much in deep sleep since I only use my tablet unless I'm making a phone call. As soon as I get a gmail message or talk message, I hear my phone go off at the same time as my tablet. I would imagine if this bug existed on my phone there would be some sort of delay..? Perhaps the bug only affects certain message apps?

i didnt even know this was a bug, im on wifi 90% of the time and have never had it happen. have you tried setting a static ip, forcing it to keep wifi on when asleep, and unchecking the minimize battery usage on wifi?

It might depend on router model as well.
But clearly changing those setting doesn't help
You can fix it by editing configuration in a file and rebooting,
however, someone said this will cause some small effect on battery life.

Hi everyone.
Last year I changed many smartphones, but notifications delayed have alway been with Nexus devices over 3G network.
I had a Gnex and now a Nexus 4, and this problems is exactly the same over and over........delayed notifications on a variable time...maybe 15 or 30 minutes.
Everything ok instead with other terminals as SGS2, SGS3, Xperia S, T and Z.....
How is it possible that after many years Google has not yet solved ? bah...
Hello guys,
I let my Nexus 4 charging, and when it was done, I removed the charging cable and just let it on my table. I was watching a movie and I didn't even touched the phone.
When I unlocked the phone, my battery was showing 93% with only 2h after disconnecting the charger, and the app with most battery consuption is Google Keep
I've attached a screenshot.
And also I've noticed that my device is hotter. And I can't uninstall Google Keep (I use Evernote and Springpad instead of Keep), I think it's a built in app in the Android 4.3
My Nexus 4 is 4.3 with Stock ROM and Kernel.
Anyone knows what is going on?
Thanks!

Yes you can uninstall Google keep if you are rooted. If you dont want to root just try rebooting and if you find this problem still persisting make a factory reset.
Press thanks if I helped you. :good:
If you are not rooted and you don't use Keep you can go to
settings>apps>all apps>Keep> disable
Hope this helps.

I've rebooted the phone several times, but nothing changed. I don't wanna root right now, my needs of the phone don't ask for a root, but thanks anyway

Thank you! This solved my problem, first I've uninstalled all the updates of Google Keep, and it already fixed the problem, and then I've disabled it just to be sure Looks like some newer updates of Keep are bugged in some devices
I know your issue has been resolved by disabling the app, but looking at your first screenshot it could have been a sync issue. Your screenshot showed no data connection so Keep may have been trying to sync in the background and keeping your phone awake since there was no connection.
Hello everybody since a few weeks I've been having a weird wifi problem. Sometimes, at random times the wifi disconnects from the network it has been connected on for a while and if I go into wifi settings I see that there are no wifi networks available at all. The only way to fix it is to turn it off and on again. This is really annoying expecially for missed emails and notifications. I really don't understand what the problem is. I've tried 2 different roms, pac before and slimakat now, always doing clean installs. I've also tried different kernels and I'm now on hellscore. I also tried different radios including hybrids (I use one now for lte). Nothing seems to make a difference... Could it be some kernel undervolting setting? I also have suspended back off wakelock, but I guess that's another issue. Also I tried wifi optimization on and off... Any help is appreciated. Thanks

If flash the factory image and see if the problem still persists. If it does you probably have a hardware problem
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Ok thank you. Could undervolting be influencing it? It mostly happens when the phone is in deep sleep or when I get outside a building and I'm connected with wifi and then I got out for a few minutes and back in again...

This may not be the right place to ask but I figured with the amount of knowledge in this forum, I would have a better chance in solving my issue here than if I posted on the ZTE forum
I have an A2017U and run the MagicJack app but sometimes I notice that after I leave the phone set for a while I have to relaunch the app. I have gone in settings and disabled "Scheduled background wake-up" and "Allow deep sleep" which I assume shuts down programs when the phone in idle for a long time... lol I'm new to these settings ... came from an old Galaxy S3 still running KitKat lol. I still have issues with the app being seemingly shut down.
I don't have any apps that "clean/auto-close apps" such as a memory manager or things like that. It may be the MagicJack app itself crashing or something but I have never seen any messages and it seems fine unless the phone is idle for a while.
If anyone can think of something I can try .. or maybe an app that will make sure an app stays running all the time .. I'm all ears.
just a note... I'm not rooted. The phone is only a month old and I don't want to lose my warranty by unlocking the bootloader before I'm sure that the phone is going to continue to function properly and I'm pretty sure that the other method of rooting with the bootloader still locked doesn't allow updates and I want Nougat when comes out. If I am wrong about this let me know ... I would love to have this phone rooted... I miss some of the programs I used on my Galaxy.
Also .. This may be Marshmallow or the MJ app but on my Galaxy when I went to recent apps and cleared it the MJ app would start itself again but it doesn't on the Axon
(edit) discovered the lock icon so MJ doesn't get shut down when I select "clear all" in the recent apps
Thanks in advance for your time

Thanks for the reply but it seems that I'm missing something. I can't find Mi-Assistant on the Axon 7 and when i find it on google it gives me the install option but says no eligible devices available so it seems tat Mi-Assistant can't even be installed on the Axon 7
I don't have a ZTE phone, but I've got a similar problem to the OP's with the MagicJack app on various of my Android phones.
On my OLD phones that run ICS and such, the MJ app runs and runs and runs, and the MJ phone number is always active pretty much no matter what.
But on my newer Android 6 or better phones, the app is constantly dying any time after the screen is turned off...as in no app mini icon in the status bar and won't ring or accept incoming calls unless I then manually re-launch the app.
I've tried checking all the power conserve setting in the OS to ensure that the MJ app isn't being turned off by them, but that hasn't made any difference thus far. It's really annoying, and I have no idea what's causing it or how to keep the app alive.

It's normal that you don't have it lol, Mi-Assistant is only on the A2017 (luckily, because it is utter crap :silly: ).
I believe the problem is the app. From some version of Android (I think it was 5) the apps need to have a notification open all the time to actually not get closed. Maybe it hasn't been updated since long ago. What does it do?
My father had his noise-cancelling mic broken on a MotoG after a fall. The solution was to switch to speakerphone. I used an app called SoundAbout to monitor if there's a call going on, and it switches to speaker. But it needs to display a notification all the time. you can simply block it through the notif manager though
